An all-star lineup. I still have this classic LP, in near mint plus (NM+) condition.
Frank was a wonderful person in Taos NM, at peace with himself and the world. He flew all over to gigs, I saw him in Paris in fine form- people came from all over the EU to hear him play........he was more popular there than in America.

A Dicky Wells composition - and a cool mellow Madison for the dancers at the Celebrity Club where Tate led a big little band in the 50's. The vocal group is superb as are the solos by Ben Richardson (clarinet) and Buddy (tenor). Love the ride chorus after the vocal. One of my all time favourite recordings- a low flame

A real pleasure to hear other sides of Charlie Rouse away from when playing with Monk. Not that there was anything wrong with Rouse's playing with Monk - quite the opposite - the beauty of that collaboration is that it's unimaginable that anyone could interpret and translate the essence of Monk through the saxophone more perfectly than Rouse. It's just that there is even more to Charlie's musical identity than the part that was focused in on when with Monk. Quite the revelation. A great jazz tenor by any standards and in any setting
