Please turn up the volume. I'm sorry the recording level is so faint, but my voice has always dropped away and sounded higher-pitched when recorded over a microphone than I think it does in real life. It's bugged me for years. But I think I extemporized some good remarks here, so I hope it's worth your while and that they can be heard easily if you turn them up.
I sometimes think Art Pepper may have had the same problem with his speaking voice. It always sounded a bit nasal and high-pitched and in his live recordings you sometimes have to strain to hear his amusing stage patter. But he really spoke through his alto saxophone.
