@pabloricardodetarragon2649Ай бұрын
The stroke in mm and the speed of the pistons in meters/seconds at max power RPM is a good indicator of the capacity to keep high RPM. It's well known that 20 m/s it's a value no to go over, and around 13 ms is good for long distance. The stroke of the 450 MT is 55.2 mm and the piston speed at 8500 rpm is 15.64 m/s, which is very raisonnable, that means you can stay et 7000 rpm ( ie 12.8 m/s speed pistons) close to max torque forever on a correctly designed and built engine. If I make a lot of road I would change one of the chain pinions to get a better cruising speed at 6500-7000 rpm. The 450 Himalayan has a stroke of 81.5 mm at 8000 rpm the piste speed is an unhealthy 21.73 m/s. That means if you want to travel without prematurely wearing the piston and cylinder it's better to stay under 5500 rpm big max. That gives a very slow cruise speed. I'll remark that the Himalayan stroke is almost the same as a a Suzuki 650 DRSE 1996 82 mm, but the DR had the max power at 6400 RPM (17.49 m/s) with 154 kmh, and the cruise speed was at max 110 kmh (12.8 ms) moment where the vibrations were hitting hard. The RPM are not the problem, the piston speed is the principal value of reliability with the quality of engineering. A Honda CBF 600 revs at 10500 RPM max power (15.82 m/s) and lasts easily more that 150000 km.

Good video. I appreciate that you are showing us what the bike is like getting around on real world obstacles that a rider might come across when out exploring. There are so many videos of thrill seeking and hard bashing on technical stuff by youTubers. (Look at me Mum, look at me.) The CFMoto website describes the 450MT as “versatile adventure touring motorcycle”. So it is not really a rally bike. I'm seriously thinking about getting one as a mature returning rider. The fact is, I think, that an average person looking for an 'Adventure Tourer' will spend a lot (if not most) of their time on tarmac and well formed gravel, as well as main roads getting to places. Not to mention commuting etc. For instance, bikes like the Kwaka Versys X300 seems to be biased towards road riding with good off road capabilities. Other makes, especially the singles, seem biased towards dirt. I'd personally like to find an assessment of where this machine fits on that spectrum. What I haven't seen yet is a good video of the 450MT's handling on winding sealed roads. Is it too twitchy? This is a big part of riding any Adventure Tourer, and inescapable. I'd like an opinion of how the 450MT balances onroad/offroad capabilities, and how safe it is for this compared to other bikes. Can you recommend any other videos? Or would you make one yourself? I think you are in SEQ. Maybe assess the ride up to Springbrook and then some some bush tracks there? Just a suggestion. Cheers

As the owner of a Versys x300, it is indeed more on road orientated, but very capable off road, specially if it's being used by the right rider, it's definitely not as good as this bike though, but I'll know by how much until i can buy one of these, i actually installed longer sprockets on my Kawy because i ride long distances off road, but when i go on asphalt, i feel confident that my bike is not false advertising like a BMW G310 😁. Still, despite of the longer sprockets, I'd like a bike that goes faster at lower rpm but I don't want to go straight to a 650cc and lose all the off road capabilities.
@conandbethdoendurostuff46322 ай бұрын
@DJKHOTTA I would say this feels the most likely a dirtbike out of all the small capacity adventure bikes. This is only my opinion though. For something you pull out of the crate and ride like this, it's hard to beat for $8500 aud
@RichardS-qh8mi2 ай бұрын
Same here - there’s so many people of all ages looking for this sort of bike, e.g. fun and more fun. I’m selling my superbikes and want an honest, small capacity, do it all bike that I can drop and not have it written off! On road or off think this bike is a hoot and is about to take the world by storm. Only one major question is reliability, though with what’s at stake for CF Moto I’d be surprised if it isn’t a huge hit as the SR/NK 450s seem to have proven.

I think sometime like CRF300LR is nice but after short test ride it seems slightly underpowered for onroad :/ If it would have mt03 engine would be nice - it was plenty hun, fast and torque for street
Much more off road focused then the cb500 man
You can go for the MT450. Owned a Tenere, this bike is much much easier to handle an engine power is more enough.
Have ya dropped it yet mate?......I'm thinking of this or a 2nd hand KTM 1090. TBH the main thing stopping me from getting the cfmoto is #1 the unknown and #2 my mate's ragging me about getting a Chinese bike!
No I haven't dropped it sorry man. I think there is a big difference between this and a 1090
@conandbethdoendurostuff4632 Yeah mate, that's probably a good thing (not dropping it) The KTM that I'm looking at is a 2k more in price that's all, I know their totally different bikes. I'm just a bit concerned about the weight of the KTM
The ktm is very heavy in comparison. A better thing to compare to would be a Yamaha tenere
@@conandbethdoendurostuff4632 yeah true, but they're more money 2nd hand.
They hold their value well that's for sure
That little 450 twin has a gorgeous bark! - can’t wait to try one next month in the UK.😃 Great vid but you need to put a mic wind shield on as you were breaking up on the faster sections. That beach made every other beach in the world look second rate - amazingly beautiful scenery.
Thanks man, yea I haven't got a mic shield as I only do these kids for family and friends normally but I might get one I reckon. It's a beautiful spot, but there is better which I'll try to hit next week ;)
The 450 drives extremely well and has a good sound despite being Euro 5. You can't go wrong for the money and a 4-year guarantee is a statement of quality
how do you like it so far hehe
It's good, they only thing I will change at the moment is the tires. The stock ones are garbage
I have just uploaded another video with some harder off roading and some long beach sections. Give it a watch if you want to see more
Thank you, I don't see a CB500X doing this at all, and I'm not sure if I'd be confident in doing that on my Versys x300, do you have dirt bike or plenty of off road experience? I have rode about 40.000 km off road but i never feel too confident, i lack skills.
Yes I have alot of motocross and hard enduro experience, I bought this as it has a big dirtbike feel
Cheers
Na Central qld sorry mate. I'll do some more advanced trails this week coming and post. I think this bike can be whatever you want it honestly it's a little tenere
@@conandbethdoendurostuff4632 Thanks for replying. Little Tenere. That sounds good. Happy riding.
@DJKHOTTA I would say this feels the most likely a dirtbike out of all the small capacity adventure bikes. This is only my opinion though. For something you pull out of the crate and ride like this, it's hard to beat for $8500 aud
Sounds wicked!
Looking forward to seeing the ownership journey and potential of the bike. Might just end up getting one soon. Can you get access to a service manual for it, digital or otherwise? It would be a great resource to have access to. Ride safe
You actually get a hard copy of the manual which is a big win in itself
hard? i know video never does stuff justice. if you want a pure challenge head out to greenbank trails. will push you and your bikes. i've done a loop on a modded crf50 and the bigger hardcore stuff on my big bike. I see you have a gps and that is good, you can get really dam lost lol.
Yea go pro effect is a real thing and doesn't capture the steepness or angle of the hills. Na I don't live anywhere near there man and I have my own acreage

Try regearing, go lower. It will get a little more low end torque. Turn that thing into a tractor. Cheers
She doesn't have that bike anymore but was running 12/53 gearing. The little 150exc just struggle
@@conandbethdoendurostuff4632 that's really good gearing. 👍 Moto on!
@@hackertheslacker yea we both have 300 exc and a te 300 now, havent had this bike in 18 months
@@conandbethdoendurostuff4632 excellent choice in bikes.
How to test the fan ?wintertime at home?
Start the bike and let it get hot. Fan should come on automatically
Where?
First Turkey in Rockhampton on the cactus trail
Nice video mate. Almost giving me enough confidence to try it myself
Honestly very easy to do man, just basic tools and a fork end cap spanner. Gets a bit more challenging doing valves in there but that's about it
Cool
