Tal & Mads

Tal & Mads

hey you!

We're Tal & Mads - a Nurse & Teacher couple from Toronto, Canada who fell in love while traveling the world together. When we adopted our pup Bowie, we decided the best way to continue traveling would be in our self converted camper van, Billie. We hit the road in January 2022 and have been loving it ever since. We thought vlogs would be a great way to keep our friends and family updated and be a wonderful memento of our travels :)

Thanks for riding along!

Ladies, do yourself a favor. Stick with what you love. The city life. I moved from the city to the country where I've lived with my wife of 33 years. She hates it here due to the isolation. We are now having to move... unless you are both on board with country living, don't do it. Xoxo, love your channel ❤

It sounds like he would like cottage life, but not at this time. I think it’s a future thing for you too. The city life has everything that you want and need and you can visit those more remote quiet areas on your vacation until you’re ready to do the big move, which you might never be ready if you love your family and friends and community that you already have, I live in the same place for 35 years and I moved two states away. I love it but it’s a different environment made a lot of new friends. It’s a big big thing.

Tal & Mads you have a wonderful Community including your families in Toronto …. deep down does the pace suit you both if so stay & travel when you want tranquility? Do you have to sell your Van? Do what really makes you happy while young! I’m 71 & have travelled but now I’m settled. I still have a yearning to get a Van & travel around Australia more! 💜💜🐶🇦🇺🐨

Just found y'all from Vanwives & am truly enjoying your videos! I couldn't believe y'all were playing CRUD...the last time I played that was early on in my Air Force career at the O club (and yes, it could get wild and dangerous..lol). It is inspiring to see how you can flex your jobs to have the time/ability to travel in your lovely van. I believe that if I hadn't been a career military trauma nurse..which was a lot of travel (some areas not so desirable, however lol), I would have gone a similar route as Tal. I can't wait to view the rest of your videos to get me caught up to present day. Thank you!

Cottage life! It’s healthier and stats show you’ll live longer. You can still get city life and supplies when you learn to plan.

I was just in Toronto and the cottage country and the ONLY area of the city I liked was Little Italy!! Of course the country was gorgeous but you will miss the excitement and diversity of Toronto. But moose, foxes and bears and lakes and forest are tough to beat.

Do you have enough friends and family in the city that you can come enjoy it when you want? How far away was cabin #1? 😂 Will your friends and family also come to you? Best of both worlds.

#1, #1, #1!!! 😊 Ck the angle of the bank to be mindful of flooding. Btw, Craig and Amy bought with their heart (in Scotland.) Forest in danger but connecting with locals. 😂 I select home choices to view , with my mind, then choose them, to live in, with my heart. Enjoy the process!❤

I would suggest that if you 2 live being in the city then that's where you should stay, nice house in the city where your doggy can have his own yard. Country life is hard but also quiet and peaceful. But if everything is more accessible in the city then that's where I think you should stay ❤

Is cottage country a Canadian term? Is it different from country? I've never heard it before the last video. It's hard to answer the question because I'm not sure what it means. Do the Van Wives live in cottage country?

Do both! Go mid with both properties out of the gate and renovate as you expand your wealth overtime. My wife and I have both and can tell you it saves our sanity. We really appreciate the salty sweet of both. The cabin is ~ 1.5 hours from the city which allows us to go on weekends and has enough tech we can work there if we need more peace and quiet. Also the cabin saved us from city life during COVID. Super important to have an escape when things seem nuts in the city.

I live in a small town in the mountains. Everything is much harder. You cannot access any of the things in this video easily and certainly not by walking or using a bike/scooter. I would stay int he city.

2:00 little late here, but no. The Nicoya Peninsula belongs to Puntarenas, actually. The Blue Zone is located in Nicoya town, about 150 miles north of La Peninsula

I think long-term if you can afford a footprint in the city, it's a great starting point for home ownership. The equity will grow faster, and as many other viewers have said you can always do trips to cottage country and expand your footprint later in life when you want to slow down and you city property will immediately have opportunity as an income property.

If you live for city life in your day to day life, then the city is likely the place for you. I know that I need city life, so we live in a small town that is very close to all of the things I love about city life. I think you should honestly make a realistic pros and cons list, and then circle the things you would struggle to live without before making your decision.
