I wish I could hit the like button more than once! I'd hit it 10 times for this video - great job! We spent 3 months in Vietnam & Thailand, with a couple weeks in Cambodia in 2023 - and we're going back for 5 months in 2025 (adding India and Nepal). I miss the feeling I felt in Thailand - there's something in the air - the peacefulness and happiness is palpable! You conveyed some powerful feelings! "It's your world. Make yourself at home" ...beautifully done.

Beautifully made video Ian! Well done. I really resonated with the fact of staying longer in a place in order to become more of a local eventually. Hence why I find myself visiting certain countries like Italy and Spain repeatedly; I have connected with their people so much - it almost feels like home now 😁

Thanks! That's awesome, yeah I love revisiting places. There seems to be a compound effect in appreciation for a place when you revisit it as you get older and have an updated perspective, especially when you learn some of the language and can dig deeper into the culture and how they think there. That and walking familiar streets without a map is such a great feeling. Safe travels!

Brilliant editing and camera work. I'd say, the swivel chair going side to side is a bit distracting, but who am I? I don't have a KZread channel. I think slow travel is the schizzel and many couples are doing videos about this that have a fraction of your camera and editing skills. So I predict you'll do well. I subscribed, swivel notwithstanding. Looking forward to more.

Great message on a perfectly edited video. It deserves many more views!. As a sometimes slow traveler, or doing project work oversees the biggest drawback is that I always end up missing the friendships I make along the way. My Thai, Nepalese, Mongolian ... friends. Even the acquaintances, the lady that serves me the late in the morning or the one that has the best fruit in the market. It takes discipline to just enjoy the moments without attachment.

The thing is (im not saying im right this is my view on the topic) I think and view traveling as another "thing" that its a temporary hit of dopamine that will disappear right after you arrive home, I feel the same guilt as traveling as buying a game, wouldn't it be better to invest on yourself with that money to improve the space around yourself? the space that you see day to day, and well... improve yourself, the person you deal with every second, and maybe after that, you will not even need to think about money when traveling, idk its just my view on it.
@iancfrancis2 ай бұрын
I can see where your coming from. I see travel as a way to improve your self and expand your perspective but it’s really up to the traveler to get what they want out of the experience. Some may want to dive into learning a new language and taking in great works of art, more “education” than “vacation” and I’d say that’s money well spent. Thanks for sharing your perspective!

Thank you! That’s awesome!! Yeah, sometimes (especially in the beginning) it's like an all-you-can-eat buffet where you want to take in everything but there's only so much you can digest at a time.
