You are a respected rider. Strong, gentle, and friendly. I always watch it on SUGO. Your family is also wonderful. Your daughter is always playing very energetically. We will continue to support your family. Please enjoy life in Japan.

The lessons you guys have taught Poppy are things money can't buy, resilience, tolerance, another language and how to be happy with who you are. This will shape her into the awesome adult she will become, you both should be proud of yourselves.

Yeah I mentioned that when I met you at Kumamoto, I drunkenly and rightly said 'you need that foreign network' for it sure makes things far easier. Sadly I did not get to drunken stumblebum my way around the Kumamoto track for either round this year as I have unfortunately been sober for around 9 weeks straight! Miracles do happen! hehe. Anyhoo, if only you lot were closer to Fukuoka for as mentioned about building stuff, I happen to have tools up the wazoo, chainsaws, generators, hand tools, k-truck tool tools tools, all that jazz. Anyhoo, soldier on! oh, hearing that is is not legal to work on such a visa sound like a bummer, surely there is a legal work around in that regard.

Being an Australian and working for a Japanese multinational where I was traveling to Japan multiple times a year for perhaps 5 days to 14 days at a time I struggled to find my way in such a complex/layered society. If not for the hospitality & support of some of my Japanese colleagues (who are now great friends outside of the work environment) I’d probably have never come to like or accept the Japanese lifestyle like I do now. I was once told by a wise traveler that when you travel to a modern, developed society there are three elements that you have to deal with. 1. Language, 2. Food & 3. Culture and for you to have a great experience in one of these foreign country’s that you have to be accepting and conversant with at least two of them to be comfortable and not feel like a shag on rock. As an example, traveling to the USA and to lesser degree the UK, the Language is easy to deal with, the Culture is a no brainer but strangely the Food can be a challenge, but you’ve hit two, maybe 2&½ of the three. As an Australian traveling to Japan you most likely won’t hit one of them so it’s no surprise that you felt lost. Now that you spent enough time there and understand the Culture, become accustomed to the Food and have probably picked up enough of the Language to get by, the 0 of 3 is now probably 3 of 3 and life is so much easier.
