Nice! "not having to speak".. LOL, yep and I have lived here 23 years this time... you can just "not speak" and it's no problem. LOL (even though I am fluent, everyone always think I am tourist if I am not in my neighbourhood and speaks english anyway if they can) Looking forward to seeing you race in the US this weekend.

Really looking forward to seeing you run a couple American rounds👍. But as cool as it is here, I doubt we can drag you away from Japan! I know you would never get me away from there again! Made that mistake once in life already, leaving in 1984 when I had the opportunity to stay….. biggest regret of my life! Japan is AWESOME!!!

It doesn't mean points leader in Japan, as Jay has been leading all year. It is a bit confusing. In the video you see a red plate on #2, Kawasaki's Chihiro NOTSUKA who actually came second last year in the IA1 rankings behind Yamaha's Toshiki TOMITA Under the Yamaha tent near Jay's bike is a #3 with red plate which must belong to Yusuke WATANABE, who is the only #3 on a Yamaha in any class. He has been out injured since round one, and last year he was #4 and came 3rd in the series. (In Japan, each divisions has their own numbers, IA1 and IA2 both have #2 #3 #4 and of course #1 for last year's winner.) In Jay's class this year ,IA1, it is Toshiki Tomita running #1 on red plate. He is second in points and was second in Hokkaido. You can see this at about 5:00 in the video. Jay is on Yamaha Factory Innovation Team. Tomita is on Yamaha Factory RACING team. To make it more confusing, there is also a red plate #6 Honda next to Jay on his right, on the start, with #2 Kawasaki on his left. That is Yuki Okura on the Honda Dream Racing Bells team, currently in 4th, and last year he was 6th in the series.. In the second moto at the start, behind Jay there with red plates are #1, #2, #7, #8 also see a #5 and #10 with red plate... and in total looks like 6-7 bikes running red plates in that race. Watch it in slow mo .25x speed from 7:05 and you see a lot of red plates go past. Who knows? LOL

Simply signifies the class and rank position.

Wow that’s some deep investigation 😂. Top 10 from the previous years championship standing will use red plate.
