Theme Parks Shouldn't Exist

Theme Parks Shouldn't Exist

"Why do theme parks exist?"
"How did theme parks come to exist?"
"WHO even made these theme parks exist?!"

These are the often-overlooked questions we dare to ask at TPSE (the channel formerly known as Park Ride History).
So join me as we explore the anomalous nature of theme parks, research the history behind them, and see how some of them (still) exist today.

Thank God we don't have the evils of tobacco and Aunt Jemima's and instead have the wholesomeness of bearded men in drag selling princess dresses to kids... PROGRESS!

Black aunts and uncles are no longer allowed to exist in the media, especially ones who cook. Its time for Betty Crocker..... Martha Stuart and Gordon Ramsey to get the spotlight! Step down Aunty... buh bye.

This video leaves out the important origin of aunt jemima at the world’s fair. And how her characterization is extremely racist.

I still remember our relatives smoking in my father's hospital room when he had his heart attack in the mid-1960s. There was a time when cigarettes, pipes, and cigars were ubiquitous. *"Smoke 'em if you got 'em!"* Was a common expression in the military or on civilian coffee breaks. I asked my father why he smoked when he was young, and Pop said, "We didn't know smoking was bad for you." In my little noggin, I was thinking, "How could you NOT KNOW inhaling smoke was bad for you?!" 🤔 When we Baby Boomers were kids smoking was a normal part of life; back in the day, it was as common to see someone smoking in a store or hospital as it is to see folks staring down at a cell phone today. (Smoking wasn't banned in American hospitals until 12/31/93)

It's dumb how hard against smoking we've become... They still sell alcohol throughout Disney Parks - is there any doubt that alcohol has devestated more people and families than tobacco? So this tone of "wow look how crazy they were for tolerating smoking back then" Honestly I think it's crazy the way many people today treat it like a bioweapon attack to simply be near tobacco smoke. And the big dig against the smoking companies was always "they covered up the degree to which it causes lung cancer!" but has it not been revealed that smoking actually doesn't cause lung cancer at nearly the rates previously thought, and that it's really the heart disease that gets you? There's a millopn socially acceptable things people still do that greatly increase your risk of heart disease that aren't treated like smoking. Drinking for instance, being a lazy slob, eating tons of sugar. Yeah sure people smoked a lot back then but they were also a lot slimmer, walked around everywhere, and generally stayed busy. What I'm saying is nicotine and caffeine built this country, and the way we stick our noses up at smokers is a bit dumb.

Disney should Re-open Aunt Jemima's Pancake House in Adventureland for breakfast between the Indiana Jones ride and the Jungle Cruise ride! I usually get there early in the morning and could really use a huge plate of flapjacks.

What the hell is “controversial” about a black woman being the face of a restaurant/pancakes? If anything, it’s racist that people think that a black woman SHOULDN’T be the face of it, because “racist depiction” or some dumb shit like that.

My son hasn't eaten pancakes since they took away his aunt jemima... He picked it himself i myself only eat pure amber maple syrup. But he begged and begged every time we needed syrup for auntie jemima he called her. He's 18 now and he only eats them if that's all there is but he always whines about how Aunt jemima was the best, and he knows they only changed the name and label but he says it isn't the same. Can't blame him, we all grew up with her smiling face.

How foolish it is to do away with not only such an iconic character/logo, but an actual person's legacy was canceled. Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben, the Land O' Lakes Indian...these were staples in my home growing up in the sixties.

Ken-L Ration sounds like damn good dog food compared to what you get on store shelves these days. Why, it's made out of primarily a specific type of animal! You can hardly get that in human food these days.

I find that almost everyone seems to know that smoking is one of the strongest anti-depressants, anti-anxiety, and pain medications. So whenever you see someone smoking, try to think, "Oh, this poor person is treating their depression, anxiety, or pain." Also, if you look at old videos, you may become aware of how much depression there was.
