    thanks so much for your informative video! Can I ask you for your advice on this... I would really appreciate it... Just to give you some background, I'm a 37-year-old guy with a Norwood 2/3 hairline and some thinning in my donor area. I've been on Finasteride for two years, which has helped me stop losing hair, but I haven't seen much regrowth. I recently had a hair transplant, and now I'm thinking about trying topical Minoxidil. I've heard it can help about 50% of guys. But how can I determine if it will work for me, especially after a hair transplant? The challenge is that the transplant itself is expected to enhance my hair, making it difficult to distinguish topical Minoxidil's impact. I'm considering two options and would like to hear your opinions: 1. Should I wait a year to see the full results of the hair transplant before trying topical Minoxidil? The advantage is that I can see if topical Minoxidil works on its own, but I might miss out on benefits for both the transplanted and existing hair. 2. Or, should I start using topical Minoxidil now, about four weeks after the transplant, to maybe get the best results? The downside is that it's tough to tell if it's topical Minoxidil or the transplant that's working. I'd appreciate your thoughts on these choices. Just to explain again, my doctor told me that there's some miniaturisation in my donor area.

  • @hairlosstreatmentformen
    @hairlosstreatmentformen9 ай бұрын

    Thanks for watching. Hair loss is best managed by a multi-factorial approach to achieve the best results. I advise you to start applying minoxidil after 2 weeks of the procedure. There is no point in delaying its application. It is to be applied only in the planted and not in the donor area. Before you start please get ECG done and make sure you don't have any migraine or any heart conditions. Also, finasteride should be continued post op after your course of antibiotics is over that should be after around 5 days.

    Hair transplantation - Minoxidil Question: I have Norwood 2. I have been taking Finasteride for a year, but unfortunately, I have not seen much improvement. Initially, I only took 1mg three times a week, but now I take 1.25mg daily. It hasn't gotten much worse, but it hasn't gotten any better either. I have a hair transplant appointment in October. Im thinking of going on Minoxidil and my doctor said I could try it out. However, I read on the internet that Minoxidil should be stopped for about 7 days before and after the hair transplant. My question is, should I start using Minoxidil now and stop using it for two weeks in 5 months because of the hair transplant? Or should I wait until after my hair transplant to start using Minoxidil? On the one hand, I want to stop my hair loss and promote hair growth as soon as possible, but on the other hand, I am afraid that the back-and-forth use of Minoxidil could do more harm than good. Or is stopping Minoxidil for 2 weeks not a big deal? Thank you in advance. To clarify, my concern is that if I start using Minoxidil now to achieve fuller hair, the doctor may use weakened hair from my donor area that has been treated with Minoxidil for the hair transplant, resulting in potential hair loss at the front in 3-6 years. Therefore, I wonder if would be more prudent to wait until after the hair transplant to ensure that the implanted hair is strong and stable before beginning Minoxidil use. How long should I wait after the hair transplant before using Minoxidil?

  • @hairlosstreatmentformen

    @@hairlosstreatmentformen Thank you very much for responding! The issue is that I have not actually met this doctor in person, as he is located in Istanbul. Essentially, he knows as much about my situation as you do. My reasoning is that it may be more beneficial to hold off on taking minoxidil so that when I have the hair transplant, the doctor can accurately assess where the hair loss is occurring. Is my logic flawed? The hair transplant is scheduled for October, which is not very far away. Therefore, I am considering waiting to begin minoxidil until after the hair transplant, and then starting it if necessary.

    It's very hard for smokers to just quit, i do enjoy the after work/dinner cigarrete. I did my transplant and tried not to smoke but it was too hard, my clinic said that if it was making me too anxious and stressed it would be better to just smoke 1-2 per day on an open outside space. But online everyone keeps saying it will damage the whole transplant, im very worried because i dont want to waste my money but i also can't quit smoking right now. This doubt is driving me crazy.

  • @hairlosstreatmentformen
    @hairlosstreatmentformen Жыл бұрын

    I understand your concern but before you go ahead for a hair transplant you need to realise that all clinics would want you to get the procedure done, especially black market clinics as losing out on you would mean losing out on revenue. However, a doctor who does the hair transplant themselves would be concerned about their licence to practice because if you are a heavy smoker you can develope skin necrosis which can be dangerous. Yes, 1-2 cigarettes a day is fine provided they are spaced out during the day. However, if you continue to smoke heavily later on you will definitely have hair thinning over a period of 3 years. So, if you are determined to have the best result, it is best to stop smoking/reduce smoking to 1-2 cigarettes a day for a week or 2 before the procedure. Once you are used to reduced amounts of nicotine, you could go ahead with the procedure safely provided you do not exceed 2 cigarettes for at least 2 weeks after procedure. After 2 weeks you can counter the effect of nicotine on hair by applying minoxidil twice a day, if you are very reluctant to stick to 2 cigarettes a day. Also, before and after 2 weeks of procedure, you could consider nicotine patches or nicotine gums instead of going back to help you cut down on cigarettes. Starting from a day before procedure to 2 weeks after procedure you should not apply nicotine patches/ not smoke more than 2 cigarettes/ not smoke 2 cigarettes along with nicotine gums in between. Hope this helps.
