Not sure if you'll ever read this or it's been said before but try using the dcmt 07 style insert they work incredible and are really cheap. I've tried a lot of different styles of inserts and tools and on a small lathe they are a game changer, definitely for me anyway. Plus the tool holders come in some really nice and affordable prices. Good luck on your machining journey.

0:25 Plastic on plastic makes little friction, until you load the gears or at high speed. Without proper lubrication, which I don't see in any of your creations, your creations will not last long.

Where is your lithium grease? Use a bit all over the gears and pins, and see the miracle.

Reverse it for a vacuum pump?

I built a vacuum engine out of Legos a while back, not quite as impressive as this, but with an oil pump and proper circulation of oil, it actually lasted over a hundred hours of runtime before the cylinders got too sloppy for the pistons to stay straight inside it. I'm very impressed with this though, you should absolutely make more engines. Make bigger engine. Water cooling. I want to see you build a car from scratch. It's always been my dream to do just that.

if you want to hand start, then rotate the flywheel backwards until it gets stiff (compression stroke) then spin it forward as fast as you can and hope it pushes through the next compression stroke with the momentum you gave it

Pistons are not round bruh, there tapered in length due to crown expansion, and oval due to gudgeon pin expansion. Fact
