    Not sure exactly what they've done. The screen surface doesn't appear "thickly layered" like you might get with a glass panel in front of a regular matte surface. But it does seem almost like they've polished up the outer layer or placed an extremely thin glossy film over the matte screen surface.

    I recently got this monitor and love it. I wanted a flat screen, but was tired of waiting for the MSI or Asus versions to come in stock. The curve doesn’t bother me at all. Going from a good IPS to QD Oled was a huge jump. The only downside so far is my other monitor now feels washed out by comparison.

    Is the text sharp and clear? I'd be sitting about 70-80cm away from the screen and I program quite a bit - so I want crisp font, but there are few 4k 24inch monitors left on the market 😞

  • @PCMonitors
    @PCMonitors14 сағат бұрын

    Unless you tested with a colorimeter or another measurement instrument, that's not an accurate reading. Visual readings on VA and TN models in particular are too dependent on viewing angle. It's influenced by the position of the 'test' on the screen and your viewing position.

  • @PCMonitors
    @PCMonitorsКүн бұрын

    Refer to the review, VRR flickering is covered. And no those settings were added as of the XG27AQDMG and all they do is change the floor of VRR operation so VRR disables itself at a higher refresh rate (frame rate in the game).

    @@PCMonitors Thanks. Still im wondering why RTINGS rated the Asus PG34 much better than the LG 34GS in the VRR Flicker test, even its the same panel.

  • @PCMonitors
    @PCMonitorsКүн бұрын

    Their flickering test is synthetic and doesn't necessarily reflect what you can expect from real-world usage. As RTINGS often does, they try to package everything into a number even when it doesn't make sense. If they changed their testing scenario and the exact VRR range tested they might get different results. So don't pay too much attention to that.

    The LG may actually be particularly bad for VRR flickering - it isn't just determined by the panel, the scaler and how it's all set up can also influence it. But I certainly noticed it on this ASUS and for me it was a bit worse than some other OLED models (QD-OLEDs) I've used.

    Honestly - it makes no difference to the experience, it's just a certification used for marketing purposes. Actually sometimes being 'FreeSync Premium Pro' certified can be a negative as it sometimes causes the monitor to use a separate and usually worse-calibrated HDR pipeline.

    AOC Q24G2A/BK vs AOC Q27G3XMN? I know one is VA and one is IPS on a 24 inch (more Pixel Density). But for someone who plays both E-sports games and Single players games (more Moba like LoL), would the XMN be more justified? I am a bit worried about the black smearing. Subscribed!

    Just swapeed from my M27U which is a 4k 160hz panel to a 1440p 240hz monitor, 4k looks good but the difference from 1080p to 1440p is much bigger IMO and since I sacrificed 240hz, and got half the fps I sold it, for fps games 4k won't do a big difference, even in big games like tarkov and PUBG, I find that after 1440p the benefits for fps games significantly diminshes and 4k is not worth it IMO if you mostly play fps games and care about performance, I think it's not worth it even for story games but there's maybe an argument to that, I can't go back to 1080p it looks so bad compared to 1440p, but the fact I could easily swap from 4k back to 1440p should tell you it's not that huge, would only recommend thinking about 4k if you have a 4080/7900xtx at least.
