Great idea you two doing a channel…looking forward.
too much talking over the music
At the end of the day. . .damn, he can play
Off stage Steve Vai is just a guy. No performative vibe, no rock star persona. Just a dude. Not kidding. If any of the rest of us could play half as well, we'd have trouble fitting our skulls through a door for all the ego we'd carry around with us.
My man. Respect. Serious playing there. You’ve been at it a long time. I’m here in the states and I have played a long time. Could you react to my favorite guitar player of all time? Normally I don’t listen to a ton of reactions but after watching you…I would very much value any opinion or thought you might share. The classic rock blues combination of SRV. He’s my favorite for many reasons but I want to hear what you think. I’m sure you’ve been asked already. It would be Stevie Ray Vaughan live at El Macombo. The song is called Texas flood. John Mayer is a pretty good guitar player as well and he said once he saw Texas flood and SRV he was floored. I must agree. I stood next to his statue in Austin Texas and got a picture last year he would play for anyone anywhere.
vai's no joke. he graduated with a degree in music from Berklee in boston and transcribed for zappa and toured with the best in Zappa's band before he went to roth and whitesnake, then on his own. he won't just talk rock or music with you. he'll talk serious theory.
i hears this song is a tribute, so Im preety sure at 4:30 its a malmsteen neo lick
Out standing ❤❤❤❤
Thank you 🙏
That opening lick/theme is an ear worm
That's great to hear. Thanks for listening
The expressionism in his performance is very primal. The song is "tender surrender", a song clearly very sensual, very sexual, very primal. Why should his performance be anything less than exactly that? "For the love of god" is another very well written composition of his which has a vastly different performative expression. As a content creator, writer and lover of music, I'm of the mind that every performance should be befitting of the song and emotion brought forth in it, making each song and performance unique unto itself.
McLaughlin also said he could bend chords by pressing into the scallops. Thanks.
Phucque me, but he's amazing!
Thank you for listening mate. Glad you enjoyed it 🎸🙌✨️
Try musicnomad string fuel, smells great and is wide enough to cover all the strings in one swipe
Tibet Almond Stick is what I've been using, its nearly identical and you get way more product in the can. Check it out :)
I’m on video saying that this song is sex on a guitar if I’ve ever seen it
Hi Guys, Apologies if you have already seen it, but if not, please react to Tina S cover of Dragonforce - Through the Fire & Flames, she was 15 when she recorded it, Even Herman Li has reacted to it, and said it was the best cover!! She also has a cover of Steve Vai - For the Love of God, which is just as good.
Great would be cool to see a reaction to Yngwie Evil Eye live
Love this this snake charming vibe 🤟
Thanks glad you enjoyed the vibe
Great band fantastic bass and drum sound 👍
@joshuasydnee yes it's a good groove isn't it
Loads of love brother..keep going on..we are very much benefitted by your lessons❤.
It's my pleasure. Thank you for watching 🙏
Literalmente le hizo el amor a la guitarra. Genioo steve vai
I just watched Steve Vai play this song live on 4/20. And also got to see Satriani play "Flying In A Blue Dream" that night lol. Im glad u got to see Joe live while he is still playing.
Flying In A Blue Dream and Whispering A Prayer are two of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard from a guitar, especially Whispering A Prayer.
Awesome
Thanks Paul 😊
This is a really helpful lesson!
Thank you glad to hear that 😊
Steve Vai's answer to the Bolero. You can imagine the last part after the "climax " with the wha and whammy bar them sitting back having a fag and talking.
hello jack ,this raag rule ,that you go back one note when you ascend ,is every raag rule?
Awesome analyses and reaction! Now how about his first teacher Satriani? "Made of tears" live comes to mind. So much going on in that song to. Satch took a 4.30 min song and streched it to almost 10 min in the live version. Would love to hear a guitarist take on that performance and the techniques used. Keep up the good work!!
There are no words to describe this level of talent… Steve Vai is a fucking genius
Yes absolutely agree
Yeah I'm switching string lube I was disappointed with new ghs fast fret
Indeed, a performative performer performing.
I hate to break it to ya, but this is the music video, not a live performance. He's mimicking his guitar part, you're hearing the album track. That's not taking away anything from Steve, he's my favorite guitar player. Period. In a genuine live performance, he feels it just as hard, with less hair touching 😊
Amazing! You're an accomplished guitar player jack.. But I still enjoy your classical indian ( hindustani) guitar outings more. It's where I first found you and will always look for you :) ~
Thank you 🙏. Yes I know this is very different to the Indian Classical Guitar performances. Thanks for listening and more Classical recital coming up on the channel as well. 👍🎸✨️
What musical tuning has guitar ? Sa Ma Sa Pa? Which high of Sa ?
What is Sa ?
That means the tonic, like Do in Western music.
Great guitar playing, finest grade, no doubt about it. But it's not Blues.
Just terrific. Will you be posting a full version of this? Is this from the same show as the album you just released?
Thank you. We played this one as a medley with another tune so there is not a longer version on the whole song or anything. Very hard to live up to the way Jimi did the whole storytelling with the lyrics and everything. We did play this track on the night of the album recording, but this was from the album launch just this March. The album has this kind of the sound though for sure. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful!! Cheers from São Paulo, Brazil
Thanks for listening
Jimi would like Andy Edwards right foot too . Was listening to recording of purple haze at Woodstock the last guitar solo ends with what reminds me of a jhalla ,thought of you
Yes Andy he is a great drummer and he can Play really well for these Hendrix tracks. Brilliant the you are listening to Hendrix at Woodstock. I watch that video virtually every day as a teenager and based my technique on that. It's really cool I think even some of these Indian classical things that I developed on guitar actually are quite similar to different parts of Jimi's playing. It was like he was kind of there already. What part of the solo at the end of Purple Haze was it? The cleaner parts with loads of rhythmic playing I guess? Thanks for watching and lovely comment.
@@JackJenningsGuitarist Hats off it must have taken a lot of work to get your thing together . Jimi thing starts about 2 min 40 in
Phenomenal, Jimi would be proud!
Thank you I just love him so much 🎸🙏♥️
I always use Fast Fret, have done for years, however, since the last year or so, I've stopped buying it since the container went from metal to plastic! WHY?? Cost saving and yet, put the price up! Luckily I bought 10 (1 in each case) before it went plastic!
What scales is he using?
It's the Just play fast enough then anything goes -scale. Very familiar to jazz musicians. Strictly speaking maybe 2 notes are too noticeably off in that scale, but it depends on the order of playing and it will become intuitive with time.
A rip-off of Hendrix's Villanova Junction which has a more beautiful melody and interesting tonal quality. To my ear, fast streams of notes are not very interesting and musically boring!
So you're pro's? Honestly? You don't appear to know a lot! Days were when musicians were performers. Who would want to pay a fortune to watch a static plank on stage? - just buy the record! He's an entertainer and a real pro unlike some pretenders who ain't fully cooked yet!
Ha ha, I feel your passion mate. I agree Steve is an amazing entertainer and artist. But yes if you do music for a living, you are technically a professional. The video title is not saying anything other than that. kzread.info/dash/bejne/n46c1tikoKjFoLQ.htmlsi=-nFnoH5-jl5Ax9Ef You might like this live video from my new album if you still have doubts. 🎸
I saw Jeff in Akron, Ohio a couple of years ago. I remember telling my buddy who was with me that it would almost be worth the price of admission to watch Jeff play even if you couldn't hear it.
Came in late on this one but that's the original Shakti line-up. Vikku Vinayakram, L Shankar, Zakir Hussain and J McLaughlin. Subsequently, U Srinivasan, on Mandolin, played at a few concerts. Pity, the dude passed away. You might want to check his speed on the Mandolin.
I had one many years ago that had a wooden handle!!!
is it great? I am the fast ! whats so cool?
And it's improvised!
Yes exactly
Any Zappa fan is a friend of mine...
Yes always something funny to talk about
After his stint with David Lee Roth he was well versed in the art of being an entertainer as well as a top notch musician. I've met him 3 or 4 times and he's a really nice , down to earth guy. Not a cut up but has a good sense of humor.
Yes he seems nice in his interviews
Please, search & react The Aristocrats - Bad Asteroid live. This is great player wasted on another run of the mill blues funk junk.
