    Does strengthening the forearm muscles (With weightlifting) help with carpal tunnel? Because I heard people with weaker wrists are more susceptive to the syndrome

  • @FortifySTR
    @FortifySTRАй бұрын

    Strong wrists are more resilient, but sometimes carpal tunnel is genetic/anatomical which makes someone just more susceptible to the nerve getting irritated. I would say, might as well have nice strong wrists, at least then you’ll know that isn’t the primary issue.

    Well... this video would have been great before I spent hours last night figuring it out on Amazon by myself😂 All good info here. I learned I needed an aluminum brace on the thumb and wrist because I was in a lot of pain. And, just like when I had to wear the boot, I instantly felt better after putting it on.👍

    Measuring Strength with exercises in which you lift your own weight I don't think is the most accurate... because, for example, very young or very thin or shorter than average people are going to have bodies that weigh much less and therefore their muscles will be able to lift their own weight much more. Also, if for example you dedicate yourself to growing muscle, or your strength, you will be increasing your weight... and it is true that you are gaining more muscle mass but the laws of scale make your weight increase much faster than your strength. Therefore, for example, one of those people who have officially managed to lift half a ton of dead weight are VERY heavy people with whom these tables to evaluate with these exercises are not going to give very accurate results. I think it would be better to measure Strength with external weight lifting exercises, such as deadlifts. By the way, the current official world record for women is 300 kilograms of deadlift, while for men the record is 501 kilograms. Why is the exercise requirement less work/effort for women? I understand that it is because males have more testosterone and that makes males develop more bone during puberty, and the rest of their lives it is easier and faster for males to develop muscle. But the statistics of the characteristics in D&D and similar measure what the character is capable of doing... if you make this discrimination when making the evaluation you are altering the results so that men and women have the same strength. With this, a woman who is a little less strong in reality than a certain man will appear to have the same strength as the man on the character sheet.

    Great video for carpal tunnel syndrome however, I have non-union scaphoid fracture that is 40 years old and have developed arthritis in the joint. I do woodwork and play guitar and have decided against the surgical options sine the loss of mobility would be too great. Between 5-95% depending on the type of surgery. At the moment, any rotational use of the hand is causing pain. Is there any brace that could help with pain relief in my case. I use FUTURO Deluxe Wrist Stabilizer during the day and night but it limits the use of the hand as explained by you.

    Hey bro, you're an expert, I need some advice, I want to try out the Hag Capisco chair, before considering dropping $1,000 on it, but I can't find a retailer that carries it. I live in Connecticut, but am willing to drive to a bordering state if necessary, do you know of any places that carry it? thanks.

    I’ve had one for many years. Despite its length of time on the market they seem to refuse innovation of its design. It really needs a forward tilt (or better a full rocking mechanism) and a smaller bump on the front to make its “saddle mode” more comfortable.

    If you wait until you already have wrist pain then it's too late. The question you should ask is something like, "am I going to be using a keyboard a lot over my career?" I'm a software engineer and I decided very early in my career that I needed tools that wouldn't mess me up in the future.

    Hey man, thanks so much for this high quality video! It's well edited, structured, and visually appealing. The only thing, as comments mentioned before, was the music was too loud. It has nerd humor and insight that encourages changes in perspectives. You've shared your expert knowledge as a PT and philosophy on ergonomics & health which gives you even more merit! I've been dealing with physical problems for a while now, and long hours in front of the PC is not doing me favors. @@FortifySTR Okay for real though I was in the army and we got competitive about the chin ups and other than like two genetic freaks even our fittest guys maxed out at like 20-25. Seven chin ups should get you a point and two should be somewhere in the 20s. Especially considering how easy some of the other two point gains are. 21 pushups is a routine feat. We would do a set of 25 just to mark the beginning and ending of lunch when I was in basic. 40 chinups is the kind of feat that gathers a crowd in a friendly gym.

    I actually often sit in this in a "praying position" balancing on top of my legs. Although my work colleagues think it looks unsafe. (240 lbs 6,2 feet guy) I find the chair to be so stable that I have never had an issue shifting my weight like this.
