Hello to the people of the internet and welcome to my KZread Fishing Channel, where I share all of my basic fishing adventures in New Zealand. I enjoy fishing and every time I get the chance to go out, I always take my camera to capture all sorts of awesome actions on the water. I consider myself a 'basic' angler as though I enjoy fishing all sorts of methods, I also like it to be practical as well. If you enjoy any of my videos please like and share them around and please subscribe to my channel for more fishing videos. Plus make sure to check out my social media for more unseen contents!

I love the videos but I find it really difficult to watch with the mic quality you have and the wind constantly peaking on the mic. (And constant loud breathing 😂) I hope you invest in the right get equipment to block out these noises, it could really improve your content quality!
Those kahawai are both tiny release them to get the population bigger, unless your desperate for bait, But good content 😂😂
🤠👌👌🎣💪💪💯💯💯🤙🤙
Most fishermen I know, don't bother to measure their snapper, instead we like to have a slightly bigger minimum size, say 33cm or thereabouts. It gets easy to judge after not long, without thumbling around for a measure and at the same time playing a part in conservation. It just seems like the right thing to do. Take what you need, give what you can
That’s awesome
I eat these they are surprisingly tasty
Nice 😊 🤠🤙🤙🤙🤙💯💯💯💯💪

cheers man wasn't easy but sure was fun. cant wait for the trevs too. always fun targeting those
Just seen the video, that's amazing! Big as fish. Would be trophies in Europe, haha.
cheers Mark yea heard up in Europe Carp fishing is all the rage up there
Bloody cold days but so rewarding to land those fish. How good was the hook up in the intro 👌
yea I put the kayak away cause i can't b bothered fishing in winter. yea that 1st kahawai hookup just came out of nowhere, the classic fast retrieve (to recast) hookup
@BasicFishingNZ It's definitely a lot harder going in winter but the rewards are definitely there I'm glad to see you get into a bigger model towards the end there
oh for sure its super rewarding getting anything in winter but a big one? haha

Where do you find creeks with these carp in them
someone told me about it
hey mate, just wanna say your videos inspired me to take up surf fishing. much love from Chch! Ta
thank you so much. good luck with ur surfcasting
Can I ask what pound line and rod you are using?
12lb braid and assassin sabre II rod
@@BasicFishingNZ Thanks! Mate, I just want to ask if you are connecting a fluorocarbon leader to a braid do you tie the two lines together or use a swivel to connect?
Didn’t have a carp since I came to NZ. Do you need a license?
u don't need a license when you want to target carps. but u need to have proof that u were only trying to target carp incase the rangers ask wat ur up to etc
Can you keep them?
not the grass carps. only koi carps
Hey man this might sound like a dumb question but how do you know whether or not there’s carp in the river?
Someone told me lol
looks good fun, never knew they fought that well or so big
oh yes kicks hard as a horse
The reason the S.A Surfcasting Rod has a short butt is that it is still pretty common in SA to use a Scarborough reel. To cast with a Scarborough, you need to have your hand close to the reel so you can apply finger pressure on the drum to to prevent an overwind on the cast. Try that SA rod with an Australian Alvey surf side casting reel for some interesting 1:1 action !
How do you make to the rigs
its just a hook attached to the leader like a strayline rig
Are you allowed to release them?
grass carps yes
Grass carps aren't like koi carp, grass carps are beneficial species.
Cool bro are you using bread for bait?
yea the cheapest bait ever
Thats a very "sweet" spot :)
oh yes
Do you need a license to catch Trout in nz
yes
..nothin like fishin with people around jumpin in the sea 😑
still the fish were biting haha
Scuffer plugs ur getting ur ass wet for no reason
lol the seats elevated
Thanks this helped me understand this sabiki rigs
