Haven't even completed a "first play-thru" only b/c I haven't been able to (yet) figure out things like moving troops or protecting convoys, but at least I've figured out how to make navies and already knew you basically take all your capital ships and "times it" by at least FOUR to get the number of destroyers used. Playing of course as the good ole US of A (back when maybe it WAS "good" not these days but I digress) will MAKE you learn naval ops and such. Even had 6 Essex-class carriers out w/planes prior to Pearl Harbor Day which of course never did come smh....but I'm learning how to play with it at least. And all this w/o using the "Space Marines" thing lol

@SOPERFECTT Жыл бұрын
If a field marshal is commanding one of the army groups in a theater he has command over all other army commanders in that theater?

Yeah the Field Marshal adds additional bonuses to the divisions on top of the general. So it’s ideal to always have your troops under command of a general+field Marshall for the stacking bonuses.

@piotrplayz Жыл бұрын
Thanks! If you were able to accomplish all of that, you’re definitely getting the hang of things. Paratroopers are great to quickly snipe a victory point or supply hub, but you’ll need to get them connected quickly to your lines or risk having them destroyed. For Norway, I’d say securing the supply route to Oslo is the biggest priority. Once you get a good foothold you can take your time defeating the Allies in detail. Good luck!
@billzander3928 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for these videos. I watched several that make assumptions that you know how to do certain simple things. I appreciate the full walkthrough. I do have a question though...how do you know what and how many ships to build. It seems for army and airpower they show what is lacking and what is stockpiled in the production screen, but I don't see the same for naval units.
@piotrplayz Жыл бұрын
Great question - Hoi4 Naval warfare is notoriously complicated so it’s normal to understand other stuff first. I’d say the only vital ship is the convoy, you want to keep producing those throughout the game. Spamming submarines is a valid strategy, so if you’re unsure of what to build, just make 100s of subs and have them raid convoys. If you want a surface fleet, make sure to build plenty of destroyers, maybe 5-8 destroyers for every Battleship/Cruiser. The latter take a long time to build so you’ll want to save them for decisive engagements. Carriers are great for extending air coverage, but a lot of countries have zero use for them - it’s better to just get the air coverage from land bases in range. Hopefully that helps. Navy is way more complicated than Army/Air though, so expect to lose many ships in the learning process.
