  The hidden image completely ruined the whales for me. Right in the middle of that flower for no reason. I can’t understand the reason to do this. I’m trying to get into these books, but why is there a 6 of diamonds sticking out of the tree limb. Really,really ,wish they would stop that.

  I ordered the Shuttle Art 136 pencils, instead of the "polychromos", and MAN!!! These are shoooo ghooooddd!!!! I'm glad I did!!! I only paid 24 euros on amazon!!! What a "bargain", for such good quality!!! I'm gonna make "good botanical arts" with these!!! Thank You Amazon, and Shuttle Art!!!!

  Glad they work good for some. Everyone’s different. Shuttle Art were a much better budget pencil for me. Highly pigmented without all the crumbling

  I bought those pencils too. I don't like the way the blend on any paper! I keep trying them in hopes I'm wrong but so far I haven't found any paper I like using them on.

  @@d_themessyperfectionist I've returned Uni Colored Pencils . I just couldn't get a good color from them no matter what I tried. I even had someone else test them out for me and they felt they same way. The inexpensive pencils that I don't care for usually go to my granddaughter or friends.

  Hi there, you know, honestly I’m not sure as I’ve not had much experience with oil pastels. Sorry I couldn’t be more help in that department. I’d say there is more comparison to NeoColor2 water soluble crayons if anything though.

  I’ve used my alcohol market and pencil overlay on them. I suggest just testing with alcohol marker in one I’d the tear out corners to make sure they don’t bleed through but mine held up so far! Hope that helps and happy Coloring!

  Hi Dee, Enjoying your completed coloring pages. Since you asked for some feedback, I’ve noticed that your colored pages do not have much contrast. Every color is used at basically the same value. Value is the relative darkness or lightness of a color. The way I was taught to evaluate for value is the take a photo of your coloring page and switch it to a black and white image using your phone’s editing filter. An interesting, well-balanced colored page or painting or photowill have a range of white to black with gray values between them. For example for your page in The Ink House with the books and orange, blue and wall tiles, it might look better if you did add a dark colored grout around the tiles. Something to consider.

  I enjoyed seeing your completed pages. I actually prefer the white background for the contrast and focus it gives to the main image, so those Basford spreads without backgrounds look finished to me. I think she’s said she prefers that, too.

  I am trying to decide whether or not to keep the 72 colored pencil set you are reviewing here. They crumble a lot on smooth paper which then smears and stains if not wiped away immediately with a very soft brush. A harder brush will smear them, and I haven't been able to get the smears to erase very well. If well sharpened, the tips will break on many if burnishing pressure is used. My swatch sheet colors are not coming out the same as the ones shown in the enclosed booklet's colors on its swatch sheet at all. I only had a smooth surface picture to try some pencils on. When reaching 3rd laydown they seemed to push some of the color aside instead of laying over it. I'm glad you showed us a second demo on paper with some tooth to it. They looked a lot better.

  For my understanding the king art gel sticks are more similar to Faber Castell than neocolor II. I don't think they are that similar to neocolor II. But probably a good alternative to gelatos if cheaper. You can use it dry or wet, to use dry if you have the Carandach palette or a cutting board with texture you can put them in the palette and use a brush, like the ink brushes, or sponge to spread it in the page, you can even mix colours. Personally I don't have the king art but I have a few gelatos and silky crayons and really enjoy to use them, specially for bigger background, they apply really smooth. To use wet for me it works better to put it in the palette first instead of directly to paper. Give it a few tries and hopefully you can make them work for you.

  As a professional artist one of the first things that I learned is to pay attention to values. What that means is that you need to make darkly dark and lightly light and then you can have your mid-tones in between. Your coloring all those very beautiful is all mid-tones. In my opinion you just need to add some more very dark darks and some very light lights and that will make things look more three-dimensional and also make these images really really pop

  @@d_themessyperfectionist honestly the way that I learned it was from another artist kept saying it and she told me when I think it's dark enough go darker. Of course this applies to your shadows.

  Alcohol markers fade. I don't know if that matters to you but the fugitive nature is unacceptable to me❤
