Amen brother. Just got my authority goin a couple months ago. Started non cdl hotshot. I know it’s not a great time market wise to start. Looking to upgrade to medium duty truck and step deck after my authority becomes mature enough to get the better paying loads and the big brokers will work with me. Then flatbed semi from there

Bro hotshot is not dead in 2024. I have three different load boards downloaded and there’s so many hotshot loads on all of them so I don’t know what you’re looking at.

Your missing the Point....he's not saying hotshot is dead.....he's saying your equipment will wear out faster doing CDL Hotshot hauling heavy OTR.......That the reason I've failed in Hotshot 3 years ago....my equipment did not hold Up......

I’ve talked to many semi truck owner operators at truck stops, and they are struggling as well and company drivers who used to be owner operators but have went out of business. This market is horrible right now!

I think it’s your market we’re based out of Atlanta GA and I have 2 hotshot trucks grossing $3250- $4000 weekly doing local work for a piping company out of Winder the other 2 hotshots are regional doing $8k a week on just on 2 runs. I have hotshot and semi trucks the thing about buying your truck is your credit unlike. Semi trucks your truck comes with 100k warranty and an extended warranty with Catskills is $172 a month my driver just got a transmission at 160k miles for $100 it cost $7700 . You can also trade these trucks in every 2 years if you like your just upside down in your loan so most people can’t.

one of the biggest things i learned the hard way and if i didnt have a safety net in my father would have ended my business is too much growth too fast and not paying enough attention to profit dollars. given the option between revenue dollars and profit dollars, you pick the third option, less expense dollars, too much growth creates expenses that you just cant pay if something goes wrong

So, if I use my personal vehicle and its und the 10klbs will they try to check me for a ''HOS" logbook? ELD? and a dot med card? just any of the normal things they check for on a typical level 1 inspection. or is it a little different with a personal vehicle?

@@01spdrcr of course you can, you can follow every rule the audit requires, not every audit requires the same, there are companies that do local hauling, that don’t fall under the threshold for an ELD, or ifta, or IRP, every case is different. The audit requirements for a full blown OTR trucking company vs an SUV moving auto parts locally is going to differ.
