I’m not a hot shot driver but have watched many many hot shot videos from other people and from being a business owner myself I could tell some of these people were never going to make it and they didn’t. Your video is one of the very few that I feel is honest. Business is tough and only the smart tough people will survive.

I wanted to try and find a niche and use a 2000 7.3 f350 and 2 car hauler for local, but sounds bearly profitable for that idea. Better i know beforehand. Also do my own maintenance work.

I’ve talked to many semi truck owner operators at truck stops, and they are struggling as well and company drivers who used to be owner operators but have went out of business. This market is horrible right now!

How often do you need a new truck doing all those miles.. every 2 to 3 years?

Bro hotshot is not dead in 2024. I have three different load boards downloaded and there’s so many hotshot loads on all of them so I don’t know what you’re looking at.

I think it’s your market we’re based out of Atlanta GA and I have 2 hotshot trucks grossing $3250- $4000 weekly doing local work for a piping company out of Winder the other 2 hotshots are regional doing $8k a week on just on 2 runs. I have hotshot and semi trucks the thing about buying your truck is your credit unlike. Semi trucks your truck comes with 100k warranty and an extended warranty with Catskills is $172 a month my driver just got a transmission at 160k miles for $100 it cost $7700 . You can also trade these trucks in every 2 years if you like your just upside down in your loan so most people can’t.

nothing can replace happiness, however if your making money and can keep up with it, your quality of life is acceptable and it's not effecting your mental health, including your choices on substance use, make the money. If it is, you need to ask yourself , what are the reasons and what are the deficits in your life quality? If for instance, you are tired of being an employee- maybe you just need a change from that employer. Driving truck is not like working at a plant in any way. Granted ,there are rules to follow but no one is physically standing over you telling you to make that action or this decision, every second of the day. I highly reccomend finding a carrier you like, and learn the road from them. Speaking from personal observation of my husband, running a business requires a lot more mental bandwidth , that you might not be looking for. So if having complete control of authority and responsibility as well as the burden of all that is really you're driving motivation, then what you desire is to be a businessman first and a Professional Driver second. However, if you really just want peace of mind, while having the excitement of a different occupational landscape, like we have found, it's ok being an employee-whether W2 or 1099 subcontractor. Best of luck, As long as you keep an open mind and a willing hand you will find what you define as success.

Depends on what your lifestyle is. Spending time with your family. Coming home every night. My experience with hotshot when I had my authority was diesel prices and random issues that arise. And brokers paying ridiculous prices.

lol I was thinking the same 😂 Maybe a good idea would be to start asking some of the hot shotters at truck stops what it’s like
