I got an 840ci last year, im 50 years old, so this was a dream car when they came out in the 90s. This car has been nothing but a pleasure to drive and own.....never get rid of it !!!

@@alecduguid7270 So far so good, I wanted an 850ci, the V12....buy after being talked out of it I went with the 840 the V8. The V12 is great when tuned and in good working order... the V8 is a bit more reliable and was used on several other cars.. .. Buy the BEST E31 in your budget , don't be in a rush, you don't want a project car E31.... Happy hunting 👍🏼

@@alecduguid7270 4.4 all the way ! The best V8 made. They were late 1995 to the end of the production run.. Mine is a 1997, last year available in the USA. In Europe the last year was 1999.

I want to buy a used Porsche 718 Gt4. My wife wants an Audi R8. I've been stalling because I'm worried about huge maintenance costs and don't know a lot about either of these brands, but I would like to get her an R8 because it seems that's the only way I'm going to get a sports car. I nearly bought this car, I recognise it from ebay. Glad I didn't now. The wheels look correct bbs ra to me although painted black. 15" is the correct size for a gti if that's any help

Owned a few gti mk2 and 4s ..Pas makes a mk2 far worse to drive ..much better off without it . I would consider a 1.8T swap

Howdy, the way to fix reverse/first gear issue is to pop the gearshift boot and inspect the reverse lockout plate thats made out of plastic and prolly fell apart, you can change it by drilling two rivets and slapping new one, if that didnt fix it, there is a nut and bolt you can crack near the gearbox allowing you to adjust linkage

By the way.. recently learnt that the sport button doesnt only blip the throttle, it also enables the extra cooling radiator. Well worth knowing. I recently got a 981 gt4 as well, its brilliant!

Too heavy and ruins the handling though ..1.8T and 180 bhp is easy and will still handle ..vr6 sounds best though
