Im 40 and have been playing games since i was old enough to hold a controller, this is by far the most boring/least interesting generation i can remember. The best thing ive bought recently was a steamdeck (i have every console under the sun ans a gaming pc already) and its changed how i enjoy games, im going through playing my back catalogue because the hundreds of games i havent plaued are infinitely more exciting than anything thats out this gen

It _won't_ _matter_ if we eventually gets waves upon waves of system sellers because by that time we're full-on digital only. No reason to play on console once that happens.

Games recently are the biggest flop compare to old gen. Suicide squad, Gotham knight, saint row etc compare to Batman Arkham knight.

11 years? Why is everybody acting like this is unheard of, it's fairly normal. Maybe it has more support than is typical, but that's due to failure of PS5. The shift over to PS5 will happen a lot more over the next 5 years. The other thing is, most PS5 games are not much better than PS4 in terms of both graphics and gameplay. And, those are mostly the games players are playing. PS2 lasted about 17 years in total, and some people still play it today (at least a few million). It was launched about 24 years ago. DS also lasted over a decade, as did PS1 (closer to 15 years, actually. PS1 was quite active in 2004. It came out in 1994, 30 years ago). PS1 games are still fairly strong, though the console is not as popular since PS2 is BC and many simply emulate them. PS1 games have been fairly solid since 1994, and came back in a big way with retro gamers and speedrunners circa 2013-2020. Switch will likely go for at least 10 years in total (supported and/or non-supported). Mega Drive was strong for over 15 years (I had one in about 2001 and have one also now, for example). Sonic carried that, but there were others. GameCube was strong though small for about 10 years, and came back in a big way in the 2010s. PSP went for about 12 years in total. I had one until recently, too. PS3 is still going fairly well, though support is pretty much gone now. It went strong for about 10 years, into the PS4, and many still use it today for PS3 games. I still use PS3 as my main system and Blu-ray player (changing to PS4 (again) soon. Won't ever buy PS5, I don't think). The list goes on.

Still have mine since launch day, when I was 13 I spray painted only the matte pieces blue as well as made the power button light up blue. Recently I put a 1TB SSD in it as well as replaced the thermal paste, feels like a series X just navigating the Xbox interface. Loading times are great and I will continue to use this console forever, especially with all the backwards compatible Xbox 360 titles.

@@FranchisePlayyer Huge difference, I uploaded a little 4 min or so video showing it off if you would like to see. The interface and ui of the xbox is where I saw the biggest difference, loading times as well are WAY better. Not sure if my old drive was failing or they are just that bad but i used to have issues where if I turned around too fast in some games or loaded a new part of a map it would hitch and lag, it doesn't anymore.

The gaming consoles damn near have NO real library. No actual launch games. They're so hard up. The developers are just REMAKING old games. Everything is too pricey as well.

i never got an original ps4, i only got the pro in 2017… and to this day i still dont have a ps5.. sony’s leadership suffered imo when they replaced shawn layden with jim ryan.. now there r fewer games, fewer exclusives, more games coming out on pc, and nearly everything is still coming out on ps4… sony has become like xbox almost and its sad

I remember the Resident Evil 4 being available on the PS3 and GameCube. It seems like many companies are focusing on re-releasing old games rather than creating new ones, which can be frustrating for consumers. Additionally, the trend of game add-ons and subscriptions can feel overwhelming. In my opinion, I don't see the need to purchase a new console just to play games that I already own on my PS3 and PS4. It's disappointing to see the gaming culture heading in this direction. Then Microsoft buys all these gaming studios just to shut them down. Seems more like a business move to try to slow the sales of PS5 systems. The gaming culture is actually dying.

There's no reason to upgrade if games are still coming out for PS4. GTA6 and Sparking Zero are the only reason I'm gonna upgrade.

New to your channel. Really liked your conversation and will subscribe to stay up to date. Your analysis was so spot on, especially about tough economic times and the gain for the average gamer. It also didn't help that Sony didnt do enough to stop scalpers when PS5 first came out which turned a lot of people off. Just like you, I have both PS5 and PS4 and still prefer my PS4 because it's good enough, and I can operate the controls and navigate in total darkness when I game at night because it's so familiar. As you said, cross gen is still supported, and the legacy game selection is so broad and affordable. Also I can get so many kids titles of retro games so that is another PS4 advantage. I think PS4 and PS5 will retire at the same time . If Sony adds PS3 backwards compatibility like they've talked about for PS5 that might finally motivate people to get the newer console.

The Switch competed with the PS4 and Xbox One as its main competitors for 3 years and 8 months. The Switch is competing with the PS5 and Xbox Series for 3 years and 7 months as of June 2024. The Switch will compete with the PS5 and Xbox Series for most of its life. The Switch is 9th gen. It just launched earlier than its competitors. It's no different than the Dremcast in the 6th generation.

Great stuff Franchise! I looooved my 360. So many nights of staying up till 2am playing Gears and Halo 3 multiplayer with my friends. Good times. I never got a Wii because I didn’t care for motion controls. The PS3 I never got until recently because it was so expensive and I was happy with my 360. But I’m having a blast with the PS3 since I’ve been able to get my hands on the fully backwards compatible model. Great stuff dude. 🤟🏽

I have both Fat and Slim consoles, and atm, it didn't give me enough reasons for getting the PS5. Recently, I have switched back to my PC for multiplayer gaming as Playstation (Plus) raised it's PSN services fee.

I bought a PS5 and still able to play my hundreds of PS4 collections, so I don't lose anything. I can even still cheat with Savegame Wizard for all PS4 games on it, and then port that savegame to the PS5 version. Super awesome!
