Because both good cop and bad cop serve a purpose for global balance and symmetry. It's to keep other little countries from going batshit rogue.

Another good question is why America didn't let the Soviets Nuke China during the Sino- Soviet split. All the benefit, none of the guilt.

You also glossed over the fact that the doors to the British Raj were opened by Bombay, which was a gift from Portugal to England (at the time of the marriage between King Charles II with Catherine of Braganza, a portuguese princess). Without it, your 'immaculate', 'glorious' history would be very different - and probably not as 'glorious' or 'glorified'.

You forgot to mention that England expelled the Jews way before the Portuguese or the Spanish. Oliver Cromwell would reaccept the Jews again in England - but for a price. A steep one.

Bamboo, the common material of chopsticks grew very quickly, but only after 4 years. The first 4 years the bamboo doesn’t really grow much, since it grew very fast at the roots. I think it found it very sentimental that sometimes people only see on the surface level, but beneath there’s more magical things. Trust the process.

One problem I see with the claim the Greeks cared only about math and theoretical stuff while the Romans were the engineering types is that a lot of the "Roman" engineers or engineering achievements (water mills, cranes, bridges etc) were technically done or designed by Greeks. The Greeks were good at both actually. Not saying the Romans weren't themselves good at many things including engineering but this explanation doesn't seem very useful to me.

The Germans still had control of Denmark and a thin stip of N. Germany connected to it. Why Doenitz fled to Flensburg near the Danish border and established a German government there.
