ExpatsEverywhere Explores
Do you like to check out a city or country before visiting or moving there? Like most sane people, we do too!
Come explore different cities and countries around the world as we take a look at what it would be like moving, living, and working there (if you're into that sort of thing).
Our goal is to give you a channel that covers necessary bases to equip you for your trip or move. We'll have interviews which provide a personal (micro-experience) feel as well as city guides that will be broader (macro-experience). When we travel, we'll take you along via vlogs and provide you with topical videos as we share our experience of over 13 years living abroad.
We are Josh & Kalie and this is ExpatsEverywhere Explores.

Very helpful. Thanks ❤
And in general we dont like the invasion of Americans and other people that happened in the last 2 years. Fortunally we are closing a little the borders now... Imigration yes, but not invasion... We dont want to become an USA invaded by south americans....
The best country in the world!
I find the people of Manchester the friendliest in the uk
I think Paris is similar to New York City, as far as the inhabitants are concerned. A melting pot of different cultures and a fast-paced lifestyle. Most Americans think New Yorkers are rude, because as a visitor, you don’t really have the opportunity to get to know the people who live there. They do seem rude because of the cultural differences to say the South, where people seem more friendly. A lot of Americans think that French people are rude because the only place in France they visit is Paris, and they don’t even try to use basic French words. They shout English words thinking if they’re louder the French people will understand what they’re saying. To a French person, it is unpleasant to deal with people who can’t manage to say Bon Jour at the very least before asking for something in their own language. If you want to know a country, you don’t just visit their largest city. As is the case with the U.S.A., if you only visit NYC, you’ll have a small understanding of the country. NYC is nothing like L.A. or Montana. Americans are superficially friendly but it takes a long time for a deeper friendship. The French seem cold, because they’re not as quick to smile at everyone, but in truth, once you become friends, it will last a lifetime.
This video is about Cork City and not Cork as a whole
Josh nice meeting you at the restaurant in Porto. Shawn from Canada!
So cute guys :)
Glad you could make it.
For mi am looking job there but I don't have anyone to connect mo
We don’t have green spaces 😅 arguably, we have some of the smallest square meters of green space per capita, in Europe. It’s overbuilt and suffocating. I was surprised you found that tree in Gracia 😂
Great video and all. but where do you find these people? I understand everyone has the right to live as they choose, but her experience comes across as though she was living off others. Her expense statistics for living in Warsaw seem completely unrealistic.
so how is it about communication? can we survive there if we speak little German or beginner level?
Thank you for mentioning the vegetarian options :)
Expats aren't welcome anywhere in Spain. Stay in your own country, please, and don't screw others. Thank you.
Best country in the world ! I love it. (And i am not superficial).
Thanks for sharing, Carolina.
she has a cold - hard to understand her words
Yes, sorry about that. The show must go on. 😅
So… Nice is nice. Who knew.
Indeed. When English and French agree. :-)
I was married in esphino near Porto to my ex Portuguese wife many years ago. Love the north but also love the sun so definitely retiring to the algarve
Fair enough. The winter in the north wasn't great this year.
Cork is nice overall, been living here 15 years. However in recent times, the cost of living has reallt spiralled out of control. I realise the same can be said of many other European cities, however lack of housing supply has seriously compounded the issue in Cork. Trying to find a rented property often turns into a bidding war with 100s of applications for any property that goes on the market. I've heard of many people in the rental market offering above asking price. The supply shortage has become so bad that even if you've got the money, there's absolutely no guarantee you'll find somewhere to rent. Many listings are only accepting inquiries by email. Situation is not as bad as Dublin yet, but quickly catching up..
Josh you rock 😄 the hair!
Thank you. 😁 My hair does what it wants really. - Josh
That's in Northern Spain
❤️ YOOOO! Nice video!!! I’m a Small Struggling Travel Channel and you really inspire me to make better content 😌 Thank you!
Thank you very much! Keep at it. You've got this! :-) - Josh & Kalie
You guys are always so full of useful information. I wish more viewers had hit that like button.
Thanks, Teddy. We hope more people find this channel. We really appreciate your support though. - Josh & Kalie
As a matter of fun, i did a calculation: you could live in monaco as a scroodge, or a beggar, by buying a studio for 1 milion euro, give or tke, and living with another couple of milion in the bank. Let's say that with 2/3milions euro you can live there.
Nice!
Probably i missed the point of this video. But, If you live in London, Stockholm, Paris, Amsterdam you also pay high rents. You also pay up to 50% income tax, 20-30% capital gain tax etc. Even if you pay 50.000 euro/year more rent compared to Amsterdam and save 50.000 euro on taxes it makes no difference. There are many consultants, lawyers, freelance specialists earning 150.000 to 250.000 euro a year (and paying 50.000 to 100.000 euro on taxes). But I guess these all 'live' in Dubai, Malta, Cyprus etc...
And this is why we don't really want to many western migrants in Poland. Your very presence increases the prices on every single flat in Warsaw not to mention the rent prices. Please stay where you are, we're not your cheap alternative for living just because your politicians managed to reduce your home country into a woke and expensive sh*thole.
Again, pretty much on point! My absolutely anecdotal evidence tells me that there is a decrease in all the Portuguese hype, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, because it’s a real downer to have your expectations be crushed by reality.
Thanks for the message, Paulo. It actually seems like the really interested people are still moving and the look-i-loos have moved on. - Josh & Kalie
This is an excellent video for anyone considering or planning a move to Portugal. I also highly suggest a scouting trip in advance for folks considering the move to check out the areas that interest them. It helps to make an informed decision about where you would like to live. Most importantly and this can't be stressed enough, please folks, take a deep dive into your tax situation. Learn about the Portuguese tax system and tax rates, as you will have to file taxes in your nation of origin as well as in Portugal.
Thanks for watching. We've covered the topic of taxes quite a bit on our main channel (ExpatsEverywhere) and on our Podcast. We agree. Those that are looking at Portugal especially for the long should really look into the tax obligations. - Josh & Kalie
Brilliant! As a fellow Portuguese immigrant, you perfectly captured the highlights of moving to Portugal. This is a fantastic resource!
Thank you very much. This is an encouraging comment. - Josh & Kalie
*United Kingdom!
Barcelona is a great city to live in. I love it but I also think the problem in Barcelona is the big amount of tourists everywhere. It would be kind of annoying. But tbh I had the same feeling in Lisbon, which is also an amazing city but soooooo many tourists everywhere.
I've been living in MCR for some years and I wouldn't change it for other British city. I'm not British btw. Yes, the weather is s#£t but in summer is fine. What I love the most about Manchester is the multicultural atmosphere and the fact you can find people with unconventional looks everywhere and nobody really cares. Also the LGBTQ+ community is great here. I'm gay so feeling in a safer environment is really important to me. The worst aspect about MCR for me is the chavs you can find in the streets sometimes. Those guys that you recorded in that Salford Quays bridge are called chavs and they are all disgusting pieces of s@#t. The best thing is to ignore them and always to get away from them in a way they don't notice. I've visited other beautiful British towns and cities in the UK but I couldn't live there because I haven't found the same vibe that MCR have in any of those places. Places like Edinburgh, York, North Wales and many others are so nice to visit but they are missing that vibe I was referring to. Many people compare every British city to London. I'd say London is a great city to visit as a tourist but not to live in because of many different factors. Manchester life is much better. ...And on the sixth day God created MANchester.
details of cork city part time jobs
A reporter interviewed a man who lived in Monaco. The gentleman said you need around 40 million dollars to live in Monaco comfortably. The man sold his business in the UK and retired to Monaco. This was fifteen years ago.
49 mill is insane
I live in Barcelona and most people is using Spanish not catalan except the old people in some villages. You dont need to know Catalan just use Spanish and you will be fine.
A lot of Spaniards in MotoGP are calling Andorra home these days
I love this brutal honesty. This is what we needed when moving to Austria. Everything was 'perfect' in Austria and far from it once we got here.
If your company would move you there you can still live in cap d''ail an the left side or roquebrune on the right side wich are both walkable and are in FRANCE wich is 10x cheaper.Where do you thing the monegasques go shopping in the aldi or lidl or carrefour or super U, Ofcorse in france,5 minutes on bycile. they go to the store in Moinaco when they forget something.Apartments cost milions to buy but gain 10% every year in value,So its like a 10% savingsaccount. My friend lives there and owns some apartments thats why i know,i visited him already a couple of times., I see you talk about Nice.wel Nice and marseille and Lille are next to de banlieus of paris the mostdangerous places in France.murders robberies, pickpockets.rapes drugs you name it. so those cities are a bad choise as a tourist unless you want to get robbed
You are a liar. I was living in Nice. I know people like you who are always talking about murders or robberies to make people believe that the word is a dangerous place.
Andorra is just a giant duty-free shop.
I'm an EU citizen. I've been living in the Netherlands for 6 years. Think about coming to a big city in France. Paris is extremely cool (I've been there a couple of times), but cold winters scary me a bit (almost like here in the Netherlands 🥶). Is Marseille also a good option?🤔
We'd think so. We visited in the winter and it was great.
what about san sebastian ? living as an single expat coming for a university researcher position for a low level income such as 20-25k gross annual ? would it be possible to live with only english and live easily with that amount? or not even worth to try it to move for a 2-3years, could not find info about the moving part to these basque countries , not sure if they are having the same regulations as spain for non eu people moving there , for tax, banks , health and safety for sure and etc? i gotta feeling from your last minutes talk in the video about safety that it is not as safe as in porto or barcelona?
I've been drinking in pubs for over 40 years and have never witnessed a fight in a pub. It's a myth. Irish people just tend to get happy and talkative after drinking. Maybe you're thinking about English people...
I am living in Cork City I am very happy👍❤️
It's quite clear you have never been to Manchester or if you have embraced the culture. You are frauds.
Only for tax residency for ultra wealthy.
Seems like it.
The first girl's English is not the best either to criticize other people 😅
It’s actually Lancashire Hotpot , I was born in Middleton in Lancashire and Lancaster was our capital of the county but they took that away and made us part of greater Manchester .
Sorry, we misspoke and missed it in the edit because both words are similar. Good catch.
@@expatseverywhereexplores thanks for that it’s easy to mistake names , I make mistakes all the time in other countries, just didn’t want you to maybe order with the wrong name at some point . Good luck for your future and happy days.
Interesting travelogue. But that dish shown at 1:22 looks absolutely disgusting, lol!
Thank you. Welcome to Manchester. LOL
You haven't got a clue what Manchester is like, you're showing videos of Salford and old Trafford and calling it Manchester, as far as I'm concerned you're not welcome here with your attitude
Greater Manchester then. :-) We stayed in the city center but had nice walks out in Salford and Old Trafford. We saw a big but old stadium that apparently has some history out that way. ;-)
I'm going to move to Bilbao in the next months. How is the basque people behavior with latinoamerican foreigners?
Hi, Jose. We're not really sure. Nobody really pegs Kalie for being Cuban so it's hard for us to know.
There are many latin americans in bilbao. You will feel ok and people will treat you well as long as you are honest and hardworking.
