  Im not an aussie myself but I just wanted to say this song means a lot to me. Although Im an american I grew up listening to a lot of folk music from many other countries and im a huge nature activist as well. I think that this song still holds up today with whats going on in the world especially when it comes to corporate greed and not giving a shit about the environment or the cultural significance of these places and what they mean to people. I think its super important to preserve our world and I encourage anyone who reads this to do what they can to protect our planet. We live in extremely hard and vulnerable times so take care

  For non-Australians who don’t know much about slang here/ “Hey True Blue, don’t say you’re gone. Say you’ve knocked off for a smoko and you’ll be back later on…” You can call someone who has a genuine heart True Blue. But the lines make me cry because instead of them being gone you wished they’d just stepped outside for smoke break and they’re coming back after. This is a great song for the funeral of someone who was always authentic and real, a true person.

  When Australia backed the USA and UK to veto a cease fire motion for the Gaza genocide at the UN, I threw out my 56 year old slouch hat from my 2 years nasho in the 1960s. Belatedly, at later votes Australia acted with some backbone but the greedy, corrupt USA held firm. Jingoism doesn't work for me any more - the politicians, unions, miners, banks, Coles, Woolworths, Qantas, vague consultants and the communications providers etc have made Australia just another clump in the big global bucket of crap.
