How long was the print time?
As I remember it was about 12 hours give or take
Is it possible to engrave into a stone like Lapis lazuli?
Not familiar with that type of stone. If it's a soft stone I d say yes you'd probably have to work on settings
Nice
Thank you. Turned out very nice and sits in my office these days
How long does it take to make that on your laser?
As I remember the total time was 10 minutes to or so
@@YourCouchsucksI live in Virginia but we have a house on Erie. I foresee a lot of Rocks coming home in my future😂
@@vadadofthr3357 those rocks are gonna work well. The ones I use come off the shores of Lake Ontario
will it work on a popcorn ceiling?
No 100% sure. Would be difficult to to slide along but it should find the screws or nails depending on how think the ceiling was put on
Hey, I am a stone company and I thought a diode laser to put our logo on all our samples. The diode only works on 30% of our colours. We have tried tape and all sorts of methods. Will a fiber laser work on more colours of stone than the diode laser?
I'm fairly certain the Fiber laser should work on any color. Though lighter colors may need some adjustments to settings.
Purist bottle top nozzle: Is there a method or tool to remove the nozzle? I have some clear tops and can see brown residue in the nozzle that does not disappear with soaking.
For those bottles which I use exclusively I'd recommend soaking over night in either bleach or a healthier alternative vinegar. After more or less blast them with some water from the faucet or a hose and rinse them well. They can be a pain to clean!
Hi, Saw your video. Want to start this. Can you please tell me which laser I should start with and what power
I worked with Pascal Liu from @haotianlasercnc (www.haotianlasercnc.com/) The one I bought from them 3 years ago is a 60watt MOPA
Hi mate i want to get one of this for hobby how is it so far or there something better right now for same price or little higher ? Thanks
The Sculpfun is a great laser and you can do a variety of cool projects with it, but the work area is small 130mm x 130mm. (5"x5") Take a look at the video I did on the Longer Ray 5 laser. Bigger work area 400mm x 400mm (15"x15") though you won't have the filtration etc. that the Sculpfiun has.
Have you ever done a photo on granite using a,20w diode
I haven't specifically done them with a diode laser. The 20watt would likely not be the best as the beam diameter would be pretty wide for the finer details. You've peaked my interest, I may play with that a bit and post a video in the future.
Hello, I am wondering if you can change it from Fahrenheit to Celsius is there an option for that via the app? Thank you.
From what I've seen you can only change the temp setting between Fahrenheit to Celsius using the control, panel on the heater itself is
It also told you there were no electric wires back there...oh wait...
Pretty certain at 5 feet off the floor with no electrical outlet in the area there are no electrical wires to consider, but nice thought
Can you change music using that?
Not that I'm aware of
@@YourCouchsucks Okay. Thanks for the reply. 👍
This how all thoes old stone buildings were made?
Ha! Stranger things no doubt
I also have a 60w JPT MOPA and I'm just starting to test some rocks. Where do you source your sandstone rocks from? I purchased some black rock from HD but they don't engrave very well and actually they seem to have been coated with something to make them black. Those you are using look great but I haven't seen anything like it locally(in NE Georgia). Thanks in advance!
Fortunately we have a lake (Lake Ontario) and several rivers close by. I grab a bunch and use those.
Nice work. Thanks for sharing. How is the lateral stability without any cross braces?
The long 2x4 is a cross brace between the two legs it works relatively well though there is some wobble.
Great idea Please consider making plans with material list and cut list thank you
This thing is useless without a separate thermostat im finding out. It thinks its 67 in my garage when its onlu 49
I've seen where some folks have moved the thermostat from inside the outside of the heater case and it's helped out.
@@YourCouchsucks I'll give that shot thanks
@YourCouchsucks I did that and it reads the temp way better. But now it won't kick on at all even when the temp is well below the set temp. Heard anything about that issue by chance?
@@YourCouchsucks Yeah we left it on all day and night to see if it would kick on ever (with the ambient temp below the set temp the whole time) and it didn't. Might just have a faulty unit ugh
Perfect 🤙😉🇧🇪
Thank you! It's worked out well for me over the last 3 or so years.
How do you tell the software what to engrave and what to cut? Are you using lightburn?
Yes Lightburn. I set my cut layer in red and then etch in blue or black
What’s this stuff called I’m in australia
It's foam insulation board
@@YourCouchsucksWill it keep garage door from getting hot during summer? Or is it just for winter?
@@lttrhd works for both for the most part if you flip the foil (shiney) side out it will reflect heat better whereas mine faces in to keep the heat in
How did u cut what you put in on
I'm sure what project your asking about? With light burn software you set layers some are cut layers others are etching layers if that helps?
Like went u cut the wood out what sittings you use
@Jrockresinart I was run 95% power 380mm/min and 2 or 3 passes
Thanks alot bro
It worked yall better subscribe to his page he helped me out thanks again
Good plan as long as you only need the hidden tools when the workbench is in use.
This is my garage work bench as most people do I have a second set of the most important tools screw driver, hammer etc available elsewhere.
K0
How long did it take to etch?
Only takes about 15 to 20 minutes for a design, and depth that sizes
2 questions for you Brian. On the ornament, you were able to cut the edges through but the name in middle is only lightly engraved - How is that possible? My second question is, were you able to connect this to your computer? Right now I can only seem to connect to mobile due to the Mac software being "damaged"
With light burn you would set one layer as Line. (which is cut). And the other layer fill (this would be etch). You'll need adjust setting based on your laser for cutting and how deep an etch you need
And yes it connects via USB cable to my laptop or pc
can you engrave on Stainless steel or aluminum?? thank you
You should be able to do both you'd need to work on what speed and power works for both though again for metal a fiber laser is going to work better
How did you get the detail honed in for the photo you used on acrylic?
I use imagr to process the. photo (link in description) and then make sure your focus is good
How did you get the detail honed in for the photo you used on acrylic?
hello I processed the photo thru the werb site IMAGR (link is in the description) after that you need to make sure to have your laser focused "spot on" It take some time and patience to get it dialed in but once you do it's well worth the efforts
Nice work, but that music was so awful I couldn’t watch it anymore.
Thank you for the comment. Old video have certainly learned a bit about video production since.
I use 1000mm/s, 95% power and 50 freq on my 50w fiber. but my engravings are getting black surfaces. Yours turned out allot lighter, made me run to my lab and test the 2500/65/50 option
Those setting seem to work well for me. Nice part is rocks are pretty cheap to test with.... 😉
Hey neighbor (I live up the street on the corner)! I like the channel content. I just went through the same exercise a few months back. Funny thing is we used the same case. You make a good point on processors being a Chevy vs. Ford thing. I have always had an Intel preference. Next machine I build maybe I’ll try an AMD. Great video!
Howdy neighbor!
Have to say I did look at the Intel Core i9-13900 in envy just couldn't justify the extra $300
If the reading of 4.8 GHz RAM speed in the benchmark is correct then you need to enable Expo in the bios to set the advertised 6000 MT/s speed. This should improve CPU performance.
yeah I did end up enabling the EXPO setting and seems to show correct mhz but it boots pretty slow.
What are your settings to cut through the wood?
400 mm/min 95% power 2 to 3 passes
I would be curious to compare this to my base Mac Studio or MacBook Pro (both 2 yr old M1s) as to cost, speed and energy efficiency. The latter rarely talked about unless discussing laptop battery life. Obviously the PC is modular and the Macs are not but in my years of working on computers I found people rarely did more than upgrade ram or the HD and less as computers progressed-but then again I worked with designers and photographers as opposed to gamers.
Mac certainly have their place. I started out trying to do video processing on a mac book albeit an older one. It was decent but I've been using the windows OS since it pretty much came out......touch on the old side ;)
@@YourCouchsucks I am a little bit older racing 60+ now. 😳 I started on a Mac Plus in '89 with a brief stint on a Windows machine supplied to me to do a newsletter before they were really useful for graphics (but still better than pre-desktop publishing machines). Different world now. I'm officially retired but in my last years of 9-5 the only PCs I used/supported were driving a ULS laser and ShopBot CNC machine-no Mac drivers. The 3D printers did have Mac software. The platform is less a factor than it was 20 years ago. I am curious about efficiency because my M1 MacBook Pro is a bit faster than the Intel based MacBook Pro it replaced but the heat generated is significantly less. My M1 barely gets warm when 4K rendering in Zwift and the fan is silent. The Intel's fan would be maxed and the aluminum bottom relatively hot to the touch.
Well I just get tied up on research the best of everything, it takes too much time, I'll look back at this as a starting point if I ever need to build something from scratch that is not a data center or a "cloud".
There was a bit of waffling back and forth on $$$$ to value for what I was looking to build. Most research content is geared towards Gaming PC so that makes it even more time consuming to research
Let me know your thougths on component selection bearing in kind this ins't a gaming PC and will be used for video processing, 3d \CAD design etc
Where can I buy one?
This is where I bought mine haotianlasercnc.com/ Worked with Pascal Liu
Cable management plz
Thank you it's on the list of task to finish
You had the cover on upside down the first time .📒
Correct! Realized after I posted the video. Even right side up the fit is a bit off as the top of laser sags down a bit
So you warn about lots of dust being produced yet you keep your laptop right next to it? 🤔
Thank you for the comment. Yep I can blow out the fan and such in the laptop which has been running in the same spot for several years, on top of the fact the black and silver hose to the left of gantry is the ventilation system which sucks out a good amount of the dust
How well do you think it would heat a 100sqft insulated shed? I’ve turned it into an office and need to find a way to heat it and not be loud.
In my opinion it would most likely work reasonable well if your insulation is good
What would you like to do with a diode laser?
Nice idea on the hidden storage 👍👍👌👏
Thank you works out well!
In the future I would suggest leaving out the music. Nice table.
Thank you!
Gotta get real friendly with that rear brake and pay attention to even the slightest feeling of slippage 😅
Yeah she a very experienced rider better then many this one snuck up on her for sure!
From the video: 1 Download and extract the zip file for the fonts you want from Google Fonts. 2 Copy and paste or drag and drop the TRUE TYPE FONT FILE to the font folder in control panel or C:\windows\fonts. 3 Make sure to do these on all of you computers Enjoy and leave a comment if these helped you! linktr.ee/shamrockwood315
Does it have a fan?
It does but after a while. Of using its not really strong enough for anything more then a small area

My wife have me one for Christmas. Still wrapping my head around the settings. Please, what settings do you use for the slates, leather, and metal?
If you're new or working with new materials it's always best to do a material power/speed test. Each laser can be different For slate I run about 1500 speed/85% power Leather was 2500 speed/ 50 power for the engrave and 500 speed/90% power in one pass. Wood for engrave 1500speed and I vary power depending on how deep I want to etch. To cut wood 400 speed and 95 power 1 to 3 passes. You really have to make sure you focus the laser also for any material You won't be able to do much with steel or metal with a diode laser.
@YourCouchsucks You're a star! Thank you so much for so much for this information. It is very helpful. 👍
@gvetech no problem it's a great hobby or business just takes time, patience and practice to dial things in.
