Upper Peninsula Beautiful
Our family lives in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The U.P. is like a whole other state which resides between the north shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron and the South shore of Lake Superior. The U.P. is a slice of heaven. "God's Country!" U.P. Beautiful is a dedicated, family based channel exploring Lake Superior beaches in search of the allusive, banded agate and many other beautiful rocks and driftwood. Yet, aside from agate hunting (which has been my number 1 hobby for years and years) I also love working with wood and traveling with my family. That said, this channel will also showcase some of my wood projects and various travels and events with my family... all over the U.P. It is my desire that you will come along with us to the beach looking for agates as well as come along when we travel to other beautiful U.P. locations and events. We want to share our beautiful homeland with you. As a bonus, I will, in time, show you my 40 year agate collection!

How’s the road getting into there?
The road to Vermilion was completely passable by car a few days ago! But this video was filmed earlier this spring...we hiked all the way there on this adventure! Thank you for watching and commenting!😊
This was so beautifully put together. I love all the extras, like berries to eat, black sand waves on the shoreline, the huge birds talking so loudly and yes your beautiful finds along the shores of Lake Superior👍

Yes, Elijah found his best! We've only been out a half dozen times give or take! He hunted agates as a child with his mom but never found an agate till we started hunting together! Thank you so much for watching and leaving the nice comments!😁👍

Beautiful Morning at Vermilion. The bird was probably a Warbler, 37 in Michigan alone!
Nice agates! Pretty flowers too. I have to say this was the first time I have ever seen anyone pan for gold in beach sand. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for the nice comments! I have panned much black sand on beaches all over Lake Superior! But it doesn't yield much gold...tiny little pieces. But there are many specks in the wedding band set I made for my wife and I. Thanks for watching!

@@upperpeninsulabeautiful so glad you’re willing to share the cool locations! Did I hear your narrative correctly that we can get to Vermillion from the Lifesaving Station, via road I’m assuming?
@@lisas2321 you can drive all the way to Vermilion Life Saving Station via a sandy road passable by most high clearance vehicles...some days it is wise to have 4,wd. But some days even the occasional car can make it. I haven't tried since I've owned my Buick. So I hike down wildcat road a ways and then hike the beach several miles. But, having a decent SUV is the ticket.

How long do the black flys last?
They can be bad from May til end of July... sometimes even in August. But if you go on a day with a north wind....the flies stay off the beach!

Can you boondock with a small trailer, at that pull-off?
So between where we parked and the campground down the road a mile...there are several pull outs where I have tent camped in the past ...but if you have 4wd you could probably get a small camper there! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
@@upperpeninsulabeautiful Those are not legal spots to camp. You can only boondock at least one mile away from developed campgrounds.

Wow, all those rocks! Rock picker paradise 😊. Remington is adorable. Our beaches here have not had a lot of rocks so far (Rogers City). The fun is in the hunt though. The bridge is spectacular!!! Great video! Lake Huron where I go, has similar rocks with some unique ones and fossils. Very similar. It definitely makes me work for finds. Be well, my friend 😊
Cool area under the bridge, nice to see your face! I always drove over, I wasn't into rocks last time I've been up there. Beautiful day, good times, pretty perspective of the bridge, looks like lots of limestone there, probably from when they made the bridge using it as base and around the supports and slowly washed out. We haven't seen that one yet, the kids wants too though!

Beautiful bridge view. The rocks there are mostly gravel hauled in to stabilize the shoreline. I’ve never found anything there except a few fossils that are found in most gravel here. It looks like you had a fun date with your beautiful daughter. You’re a great Dad! Happy Fathers Day!

Today I took my son to the beach looking for agates...stay tooned for that video.... unfortunately we went agate hunting and found a bazillion horn coral fossils. We did find a frog though!😅

Hopefully the bride and groom don't see this video of you mentioning that you got bored with their wedding and decided to look through a rock pile in the parking lot rather than be at their wedding! I feel your pain. Been in that situation and probably would have done the same, however, don't have the guts to throw it up on KZread. LOL
