I have always been very critical and demanding with my own music, and this means that only 10 or 20% of my projects are released. Sometimes, when I listen to the music of another artist within my same genre, I think: if I had created that track, I would surely not be satisfied with it and would throw it away. This makes me think that you are most likely right.

Great vid! This reminds me of Nic D's story: He was super hype about a song he made, so he wanted to prepare a ton of promotional content for it and stuff like that. While preparing for its' release he wanted to quickly release something "in between". He made a song in 2 afternoons and released it without paying too much though to it. The song he made "in between" ended up being his most viral hit. The one he was actually hype about - flopped.

I paused the video when you listed -limiting beliefs -perfectionism -overthinking so I could see how these three things affected me. Personally, I realized I strive so hard to sound perfect that it became dreadful and i ended up telling myself its not possible which caused me to only think about that when it came to making music.

Overthinking, or being a perfectionist also yields amazing product. But only when you are at a capable skill level.

by overthinking, you could make a bad song, by not overthinking and make multiple little beat until you get a good one, finishing it, and by listening, it the best way to make you go up (:

5:03 this right here is actually one of the best pieces of advice ive heard on this. just gotta let go of your music sometimes. not every song is going to be perfect and you will make better ones in the future!

I don't know if I fully see his perspective, but as someone who's learning after 6 years. A daw still has a science/digital process. When programmer tells the code to do something, 9 times out of 10, there are systems to make each task more efficient. each system can be more efficient within your daw. If you have your sounds more narrowed down then you have a focus and finish those tracks pretty quickly. The crazy thing about me getting better at any aspect though, is I needed help, and networked with others. before you judge anyone's fast methods, hear it on multiple sound systems, and ask yourself: "did they learn that themselves or someone else?". and they usually did learn from someone else. that's the power of networking

I wan't to digest everything that you have, because the way you have this perception to a daily producer obstacles is priceless. Akayo, don't stop. Real G. <3
