  It’s all downhill after unleashed. Generations was pretty good and fixed some things but Unleashed is peak Sonic for me.

  Sonic can use it. He was only drowsy the first time he uses it in 06 and in the immediate battle with shadow. The answer is hes faster than shadow and doesnt feel the need to cheat with it.

  In the Sonic Forces Takeover he uses it in one of the gags, Eggman was questioned if he would like to use Chaos Control and then as Eggman says he doesn't need it, Sonic and Shadow use Chaos Control to teleport away and he gets scared and wants to learn it In the IDW Comics he also mentions using Chaos Control ONCE, all the times he had the emeralds he never mentioned, but during the Urban Warfare Arc, as Shadow uses Chaos Control with the Fake Giant Emeralds which have Chaos Energy Sonic says to himself that he should also give it a try, sadly he can't because right after Shadow uses the Emeralds get crazy and grow bigger making everything unstable

  Simple answer: he doesn’t need/want to. Any time he’s ever conceivably needed it (outside of the times where he uses it in the games that these videos mention.) he’s already in super form. It’s implied that his speed and things like the “Sonic Wind” attack are all manifestations of using Chaos energy and that Sonic is kind of a prodigy with it, Shadow says at one point in SA2s final battle that Sonic is the true ultimate life form iirc. But Sonic also isn’t a living chaos energy battery like Shadow is. Shadow was created to use it, Sonic wasn’t. So while he is prodigious with it, maybe it does drain him. Ultimately I can say from a gameplay perspective, having played a couple of the “boost” games and also Shadow the Hedgehog, it’s pretty boring gameplay to just hit a speed button and win the stage.
