    Hey man thanks for this awesome video. I’m thinking I need to replace my valve body on my 16 f150 5.0 ; 97k miles ,6r80. I’m having intermittent shifting issues particular at faster speeds on highway.sometime when I press on gas to go faster tranny gets stuck in lower gear and the only way to get it back to normal is to let off the gas and cycle back through gears. Anyway was hoping for some insight if you think that could be the problem and also if I change this part will I have to do any programming or reflashing of anytype? Im replacing the entire valve body and lead frame. Thanks!!!!!

  • @autohelp6504
    @autohelp6504 Жыл бұрын

    It sounds like you are a good candidate for a new lead frame. metal clutch material builds up on the electrical components in these causing shorts. you will not need to do any reprogramming. make sure you have lots of brake cleaner o hand to clean up.

    look for metal clutch wear material built up around the connections of the shift solenoid plugs. If there is none present it is more than likely the shift solenoid.

Heard some guys having to go back in after buttoning it all up due to no crank situation. Could be that connector is corroded or not aligned. Thanks.

    My Gen 2 6R80 with only 1600 miles on it after a rebuild, flared 300rpm from a 5-6 gear shift. Now, when trying to move forward, it seems like 90% of the line pressure isn't allowing full engagement in D, and the RPM just climbs with very little forward movement. Reverse engages perfectly fine. The car was driving perfect for the first 7 minutes, and then this came out of nowhere. I believe its a solenoid/valve body issue. No codes came up. I am swapping the valve body, bridge and tube seals today.

    Liked and subscribed. Again thanks man great video. Saved a ton of time and money doing this myself plus I learned something and felt good knowing I took my time and did it right. Apparently previous owner put royal purple Max ATF in this trans, didn't have an issue with it but I'm doing the motorcraft Mercon LV. Reason for lead frame replacement was that every once in a while it would go into limp mode and throw a wrench light. I'm whipple charged so my throttle body is different than stock but I cleaned it anyway. When it still threw wrench light and went into limp mode I decided the lead frame was probably the culprit. We'll see. Regardless the leas frame in these trucks is a common issue. I replaced it with the new version which looked the same except for different part number and that foam seal at the solenoids. Do you recommend flushing out the rest of that royal purple? Any issue with a small amount of it mixing with the motorcraft?

  • @autohelp6504
    @autohelp65042 жыл бұрын

    you should be fine not flushing out the rest of the royal purple. it is almost impossible with these transmissions anyways. the thermal expansion valve makes it difficult to get everything out of the system.
