    Some long ears have less color while others are more vivid. What is the factor that decides these colors changes? Temp? Clarity? Thank you,

  • @brandonbrown3357

    I think its at least partly genetics. The most vivid colors are always in clear water, but it seems like some pops have more red, and some more blue. Not sure, but diet may play a role too...

    Always funny to me how sunfish form these tight schools in the wild, and yet they will fight until they die before just settling with a single other sunfish in an aquarium.

    Is it the competition of rival males and numerous females that bring out their color?

  • @construct3
    @construct32 жыл бұрын

    Yes. Outside of breeding season, they are still, in my opinion, the most beautiful of the sunfish but nowhere near what you see here. There's still a lot of red, but it doesn't "pop" like you see here.

    If in a tank or large aquarium, what light source is used here(fluorescent / incandescent? These fish and the vibrancy of color are incredible! I keep a male Northern sunfish in my aquarium, but he's never this brightly colored. I used a 5000 Kelvin temp fluorescent(natural daylight) LED for my tank. Of course, my sunfish also isn't in breeding colors. However, they do keep their color year-round. Any tips please? Thanks!

    You can find these on aquabid but be warned max size of males is a boisterous 6 inches and are fairly aggressive so best keep them alone or with large schools of minnows/darters and in groups of 6 or more!

    I don’t know the name of the vegetation, but have always been interested in knowing. The water is super salty, so I’ve always wondered if it might be something unusual. I’m sure someone has looked into it, but I don’t know much about it. If you find anything out please be sure and post a reply. Thanks

    If you don’t mind me asking, where was this filmed Like state, region, and or/what body of water? I just would like to snorkel and see them in person. Although I would understand if you would like to keep the location undisclosed to protect the fish from capture/human activity.
