I know it has been done but I have not attempted it. You would need to find a riser adapter because the top triple and risers are one piece. Then a straight drag bar would be the closest thing I can of. You would need to extend the cables and hydraulic lines.

Hello, I just recently got a 84 Magna on a trade and the previous owner had drag bars on it, which was an aggressive forward lean while riding. I have switched out to bars similar to what you installed and noticed the OEM master cylinders have a lean to them showing incorrect levels. Where the aftermarket master cylinders you installed better than the OEM ones? While I run into issues if I stay running the cylinders at a tilt. Thanks for any advice, enjoy your videos!
@magnamoleАй бұрын
The tilt may introduce air into the lines which is no good. Some guys run them that way with no issue but I wanted to be safe and got ones that sit flat. That is the only real advantage to the aftermarket ones. I had to relocate the choke, and a couple other little odds and ends. Some guys buy the masters from the Sabres of the same vintage as they sat flat from Honda.

I always ride with Kevlar pants and armored textile jackets. Any little bit helps but we do need to calculate our level of protection vs heat. Heat will kill you just as well. We all take different levels of risk. Wear or not what you want to.
@MichaelBettelmeier2 ай бұрын
(Preliminary remark: Automatically translated from the German by Deepl.) Yes, I think he is wrong here. The main complaint is that the protectors don't deliver what they promise. I don't think it makes sense to remove them because they also provide protection when "grinding". The times when the "pads" could actually have caused damage in the event of a fall (especially if you landed on the "edge") are now really over. What is the safest? It doesn't have to be a racing suit for racetracks. But a tailor-made (2-piece) leather suit with appropriately sized protectors with a correspondingly high ability to absorb the forces in the event of an impact is perfectly acceptable. In addition, of course, "real" motorcycle boots and gloves, possibly - even for "road riding" - a neck brace. Some manufacturers, such as Dainese, do not "build" a back protector into the suit at all; they leave space for a model to be worn separately. This also makes sense because the coccyx can be well covered in this way; this part is then tucked into the trousers. In addition, they may also include a chest protector (anyone who has ever crashed into their own handlebars knows what I'm talking about). Incidentally, I wear a suit from "Schwabenleder" (this is not intended as surreptitious advertising). They have a patent: the back and coccyx protectors are housed separately in the jacket and trousers, but interlock when the suit is properly closed and worn. But of course textile - reinforced with Kevlar or Aramid - is also perfectly fine. Not everyone likes to wear leather. It should also be mentioned that motorcycle clothing - some will now hyperventilate - must be worn correctly (apart from the fact that the fit and size must be right). This means, for example, that the zippers must be completely closed. However, the criticism of manufacturers - and indirectly of governments, and, of course, some NGO's - is more than justified. First of all, the problem is that here in Germany, leather suit tailors who have made 20,000 suits in their lifetime have had to stop because they are no longer allowed to certify themselves according to the new standards, but - every model! - to a "designated institution". This is also a joke because the standards are really far too lax - and the protectors are far too small in terms of surface area. There is no point in letting a steel ball hit the protector (and the clothing) from above during the testing process and then measuring how much force (Newtons) is still applied on the other side if the required damping values are too low - and that at the steep prices. As far as wearing comfort is concerned: these nasty rubber things (where have the foam or honeycomb protectors of earlier years gone) are really disgusting, especially when they are placed in thin lining pockets and practically lie directly on the skin. At least that's the case in Europe. It would be much better if there was a piece of lining in between and the protectors could be slid into the corresponding pockets from the outside (!). Then they would also be much easier to position. But they would have to be larger - and would be correspondingly more expensive. However, I think the reverse conclusion - “protectors out of the clothes” - is wrong and bad advice for riders: better protectors are needed. Airbag solutions will remain unaffordable for most riders for some time to come. How can we deal with this now? If so, then we should "get down to business". 1. Standardization must make use of truly independent experts. Most of the NGO's that are involved here (for money) are actually government organizations in disguise. 2. The wearing of standardized protective clothing when riding motorcycles must be mandatory by law. In my opinion, there is no way around this in the long term. 3. There must be an (international) agreement - guided by factual considerations - on the protection concepts and the objectives to be achieved. The decisive factor here is not the wishes of the manufacturers, but the requirements of the drivers and the physical circumstances. Everyone knows that the physics of driving cannot be fooled. Besides - who wants to change at every state border? 4. In particular, you can't change the standards every 2 or 3 years and then expect everyone to buy new clothes. 5. There are also very practical requirements (bureaucrats typically don't think of this): e. g. the corresponding labels must be attached securely and permanently - and recognizable from the outside (who wants to undress so that the police can see into trousers or boots?). If necessary, electronic tags - if they function reliably - can help with reading, even in an automated process - as it were, when driving past, which should considerably reduce the effort and inconvenience for those being checked and inspectors alike. 6. The aim should be to provide a reasonable level of protection - not the luxury version. And from the driver's point of view. Not everyone has to dress like a professional racing driver in custom-made clothing. Insurance companies (health, accident, etc.) or even the state can reward you with bonuses if you ride - generally - with "more" or "better" equipment. Perhaps the implementation could start with new drivers or those returning to driving. I know that all this does not suit a group of drivers - in my opinion a vocal but very small group - who insist on individual choice. But who still drives without a helmet (or without a seatbelt in the car)? On the other hand, what would these quotas look like today if there were no obligation to do so? It is conceivable that such regulations will initially be introduced within the EU and Switzerland. But make no mistake: other countries can very well decide between supposed and real freedom and sometimes have much more "power" to enforce this. I've ridden over 250,000 km (approx. 155,400 miles) on my motorcycles so far. I don't make a big distinction between a 10-day tour, a ride to work or a trip to the cinema in the evening - I always wear one of my two leather suits. Not everyone has to do this, but I think I can agree: you don't die from wearing protective clothing. Michael

Great suggestion. Did not check stock spring spec, but the progressives are supposed to have a slightly higher spring rate. With my weight I wanted to get less dive, so springs and the oil change did that. It may be more the oil weight making that difference than the springs per say. Definitely can save money by not upgrading springs and just oil. You could even add a spacer to add preload to the stock springs. For me it was worth the time and effort.
