The QLN had more bass, but I would buy the ATC along with a sub or 2 and still have plenty of cash leftover for a high end dac, preamp or amplifier

it’s been awhile since I’ve had the May, but many dacs sound as good or better than the May. The Lab12 dac1 reference is better sounding and less than $3k on the used market. It has a tube output stage. The Musetec was as good for around $3k new

Did the LTA preamp beat out the Backert labs ?

I like the LTA better than the Backert. The Backert is noisier and lacks the extra features of the LTA. The Backert was impressive at first with the added bass it provides, but the midrange started to sound strange after a few days.

Did you notice a difference when adding the Puritan audio to your system? Also are you using a network switch into ethernet vs.wifi, are you using any fuse upgrades in any components?

No fuse upgrades on anything that I currently have. I’m not sure if I noticed a difference after adding the Puritan. I’m guessing I would notice a degradation if I took it out….that’s how it usually works for me. I have an Uptone EtherRegen that converts to fiber optic that feeds my Hifi Rose RS130 streamer.

Are those coda m8 monoblocks? I’ve always been curious regarding the v1 vs the v2 of these, the v1’s go further into class a (16 vs 8 watts) but the V2’s are more powerful (800 vs 500 watts in 8 ohm). Normally one assumes that the V2 is always better, but in this case, it leaves me wondering. Any thoughts on this?

The preamp isn’t quiet enough to run XLR with my 800 watt amps. The only tube preamp I’ve tried that is quiet enough to run XLR is Audio Research. Backert was too noisy and so was the Lab12 preamp. Thanks

@@Phastm3 currently I use iPhone only . Previously I used shure iPhone mic. Also I feel iPhone way is better for common reference point for viewers to understand. Example if you see my recent TAD Florida audio show recorded iPhone and still it’s sooo good tonality as it’s sound in person listening

@@Phastm3 thank you. I can buy a Apollo nearly new but can not audition it. They also have kinky power amps. Some tell me apollo is to warm sounding since my system is already on the warm side. On the other hand, i'm actually a tube guy.....

More than enough. I play with deulund big monitor speakers with 90db. My fear is that the kinky might be to analitical. But offcorse i would liken to have some finesse. Sorry for my bad English.

These mighty little speakers sound great and are made by a family business, now in the second generation. They are built with care and quality, but are rather pricey though. If you need a small speaker that sounds much bigger than it is, this is it.

Was the preamp a good match with the CODA? I've been looking for a balanced tube pre to match with my no.8. With the CODA No.8 having a 10k input impedance.. it hasnt been easy lol. I believe Beckart pres are only under around 75.:)

I’ve tried the McIntosh C47, Pass Labs xp12, Holo Serene, Backert Rhumba, Benchmark, Audio Research LS28 , Mark Levinson and Linear Tube Audio Microzotl. The Audio Research and Linear Tube Audio were my favorite. The McIntosh is good for being solid state
