    Great play through. It’s on my table for solitaire now and your run through has helped, even though the rules are really clear. I just hope I get better outcomes with the dice than you 😂 one question I have is your move at 34:00 to Derne, you only moved 1 gunboat and left one behind was this by choice and if it was why would you not just have the additional firepower as the GB’s don’t count for movement (page 7 last paragraph) thanks

    Tech = Both server connected via Vassal have access to module toolbar charts and windows without the other seeing what you are doing - the vassal features are independent to the user. Seems like IDJESTER is relying on Tony's presentation/shared screen to see features which are in their own Vassal client.

    Thanks and great stuff for a great series of games by a great designer > challenging to see clearly unless on a big screen - can you increase the font size in Vassal at a minimum to see the rolls. Also, any future plan to get a HD camera?

    @kencampbell7791 it is an issue with the software. To share at 1080 you need to pay 50 a month. Not worth it so I am looking at other options.

    If your infantry is Formation Shaken, then movement is only half.

    Around 29:50 cavalry can avoid formation hits by starting the scenario in open formation.

    Every time you activate a formation, the Army Commander activates as well. You can move him around to rally shaken and broken units.

    All my life I’ve heard Spad pronounced like mad. It’s actually an acronym for Société Pour L'Aviation et ses Dérivés. On the last roll you could have used to your good luck charm to reroll that hit.

    @@TonysBoardLifeI just finished my own first play through. This game gets the mortality rate right, doesn’t it? Your play reminded me that I can break off after an encounter. I was assigned three bomber escort missions and one line patrol. The last mission was again a bomber escort. I shot down a Nieuport 17 outbound over friendly territory. Should have returned home at that point. Oh, my pilot was Julius Billik, a brother or cousin? Sad days for the Billiks.

    @@sparerib5494 9.3 up to 3 off-board artillery increments may be combined into 1 fire value. I thought it was just 2.

    Thanks for the video, Tony. Soviet advance looks good so far as well as the German response. This one is tricky as the Germans are thin, but have the terrain and the weather. If I remember, artillery effects will be interesting. I like your defense setup, but what is that truck on the road by itself?

    Enjoying this, Tony. One thing, at 32:19 you moved the HMG from offboard to 0702, but he only had 1MP due to snow. This may have affected your Op Fire outcome.

    I"m pretty sure this is how you emergency land. 7.5.1. Not that it matters here, but there should have been a Dive and then the Emergency Landing. You may dive to low by using the standard maneuver in order to try an emergency landing, even if disadvantaged or being tailed. However, on the turn you attempt to emergency land, you are not allowed to flip a defensive card, and the enemy aircraft shoots at you with +1 random hit. You may also receive ground fire per the AA rules. Disengaging in this way is hazardous and should only be done in an emergency. If you survive the AA fire, the fighter’s last shot, and the landing, you have landed. See the forced landing rules for your status depending on where you landed. And 7.3 for a Dive: Dive. Avoid 1 random hit. You are ready for an emergency landing next round of combat.

    Keeping track of hits. I take out X damage markers for the hits. Easy to keep track of hits that way. I stack my damage markers in 5s for some unknown reason.

    Very entertaining and also very indicative as to how difficult it is to survive in this game. Yeah you should have dodged the bullets (pun intended) from the gun jam oversight but chock it up to the misfortunes of war. Plus you got the opportunity to showcase an emergency landing which was perfectly executed per 7.6.5, aside from becoming KIA in the process. Hopefully you'll have another go at a WFA campaign and if so, perhaps consider doing so as a German pilot flying out of Guise. That would allow you to fly against both Brits & Frenchies, plus face challenges of the Somme and Oise MGO's. I would also recommend adding in the optional rules for Pilot Fatigue, Variable Pilot Quality and Gallantry for even more flavor of WWI aerial combat. Regardless, keep up the good work on the TBL channel. Cheers!

    Thanks for the play Tony. Couple of items that could have helped. No roll for fire on engines, just Fuel Tank and on your Cuban 8 maneuvers you forgot to -1 hit. I also think that 2nd Albatros DIII got a Gun Jam on the second shot.

    fyi on the bonus tail hit, you still have to get a hit to get the bonus tail. So if he draws Avoid All Damage, then there are no hits from you.

    Hey Tony - nice work on moving to the close up video which definitely enhances an already good presentation. Thanks also for the shout out on employing the tactic using EB combined with Reflexes and backed up by your Weap Maint skill. As you saw, the 2 extra hits included wounding your opponent (-1 on Initiative) which increased your odds of success and bummer that he pulled a Split S to end the encounter, but c'est la vie. Finally fyi, passing along the following from designer Greg Smith as posted on BGG regarding proper application of the A-3 charts (which had confused me as well)... "Enemy + Friendly Lines is for the Central Powers (CP) when over their friendly lines. The Allies use Friendly Lines (Allied) when over their friendly lines. Basically, what it means is, the CP has more encounters since their friendly lines uses the same column as if they were over enemy lines. Only the Allies use the left column (if over their friendly lines) and use the right side when over enemy lines". Hope this helps and looking forward to Part 3. Cheers!

    Tony - Very glad to see you returned quickly with another campaign and will be interesting to see how Frenchy boy fares in his Nieuport 11 as this tends to be a brutally realistic game of WWI air warfare with odds of survival stacked against you. That said, your pilot is off to a fantastic (lucky) start given that he KO’d that unlucky Fokker’s Fwd Weapons and hit his Engine on the first past then his Controls on the next before ultimately shooting him down. Then went on to disengage in the second dogfight against the Alby, after having his Nieuport's Fwd Weapons KO’d. Definitely beating the odds for both those encounters. Also glad to see you picked up the Weapons Maintenance Skill right off the bat. So now don’t forget that you can use your initial extended burst (EB) with no risk of a gun jam, as well as in follow on opportunities as long as the skill remains in place. Tactically, EB can be extremely effective when combined with Reflexes and attacking from an advantaged position, especially when facing a superior opponent. Short of the defender pulling an Avoid All Damage card, you’ll get to apply all the extra hits from the EB which can increase your odds of success - very important in this game. Otherwise it looks like the other commenters have picked up all the points for fine tuning so… carry on my wayward son!

    @41:00 2 seater should draw a maneuver and defense fire card. Rear gunner is firing at you when you are behind him or advantaged. The danger of fighting 2 seaters.

    Controls hit reduces your Agility and Engine hit reduces Speed. So you get slower in Inits. The fight in the 28:00, Fokker should have been slowed by that hit on the controls and engines.

    @27:30, you are tailing and if you get any hits, you get a bonus hit on his tail. 7.1.3: An aircraft that is being tailed will suffer a bonus “Tail” hit if any hits are scored at all. This would be prevented by a defensive card that prevents all damage, or a combination of skills and/or a defensive card that reduces the amount of incoming hits to zero.
