    Did you buy wider than stock axles? Or you running spacers? Or low backspaced wheels? I have a 4 door JK and wondering if it's worth the extra cost to buy a Fusion 44 at 68 inches. I currently have 4.5 backspaced wheels and going to go for 37 inch KO2s (on 35 KO2s right now)

    I had rub on the rear flares with 37x12.50x17. I found this out in Moab lol! I have since done some trimming to the rear flares, but if you plan on going 37+ you’ll probably have to go to flat fenders. 35s should not have any rub at all.

    We had a "ticking time bomb" for years under our JK, then it went off. $22K CND estimate for engine replacement. That rattle on start up is valve train operating without oil pressure momentarily while the oil filter fills back up with oil after draining down to the pan. After 6 000+ dry starts, the damage from insufficient lubrication adds up. Baxter adapter prevents that.... well worth it. Now engine is quiet on start ups 👍👍

  • @BruceF.

    I had looked at this device before but kept coming back to two concerns. First, if you're having to use air pressure to open the anti-drain valve during oil changes, and since oil pumps don't pump air, then oil pressure is what opens the valve whenever you start the engine. So you are still having to wait for oil to get pumped up to the Baxter device to force the anti-drain valve open so the oil can flow to the valve-train. Not sure that is saving that much time, at least not $300.00 dollars worth in my opinion. The second thing is almost every car I have owned prior to my Jeep has had the oil filter located toward the bottom of the engine, usually about oil pan height. Additionally my last car (Toyota) used a similar cartridge type filter as my Jeep, but it was located near the bottom of the engine, so no anti-drain valve either. There was nothing to prevent the oil from draining down to the oil pan on any of those vehicles and I had never heard of dry start concerns with any of them. I think a lot of this concern as it relates to Jeeps was the result of a well known issue with the roller rocker arms on pre-2019 Pentastar engines. The needle bearings were prone to failure after 100k miles and literally were a ticking time bomb. Will this Baxter device help that issue? Not sure (see first concern). Since I don't have a pre-2019 Jeep, I think I'll roll the dice.

    If the filter is allowing oil to drain back when shut off.... Then why is it that when I take the filter cap loose, the filter is full of oil... Also, the factory oil adapter already has those features built into them. Yes, they are prone to leaks. And yours is the early version, which is more prone to leaks. On the later models, it's actually the o-rings that are more prone to leaks. And one more thing... If these are starting dry every time, why is it so common to see promaster vans with 300k miles.

  • @JustEmptyEveryPocket
    @JustEmptyEveryPocket7 күн бұрын

    If yours is full of oil that's good. That's what you want. Every JL that I have ever wheeled with has the "Three Point Six Tick"; so I'm not sure what is causing the roller rockers to wear out if the top-end doesn't drain...

  • @grantmoon624
    @grantmoon6246 күн бұрын

    @@JustEmptyEveryPocket The rockers have needle bearings and those needle bearings fail. How, why, when and can this happen? Let’s evaluate; All rocker arms with needle bearings can do this no matter what. While this happens prematurely in 3.6s it also happens in a lot of cars eventually, and a lot of cars allow oil to flow back down in the same manner as the 3.6, but keep in mind a needle bearing solution is a delicate one. Also note that the 3.6 runs hotter than other motors by design. It actually needs to run hotter so that it runs optimally. I believe the leading issue with the 3.6 causing rocker failure so frequently is by not incorporating rockers with needle bearings that can be properly lubricated with oil at higher temperatures, thus higher viscosity. The Baxter unit will allow more oil present at start up, but it does nothing special after start up. Can this brief aid in lubrication prolong prevent rocker life? Maybe, but it wouldn’t hurt in principle. Will it help in other ways, sure, but it’s marginal, and that is a different discussion. The best cheapest bang for the buck is to switch to 5-30 synthetic.

Most of us can't afford crazy expensive diffs or other high end high dollar components but still wanna live the life and sit behind the wheel instead of on the couch .. it's a well known fact that if you have some abilities offroad and stick to obstacles that your rig can do you can have a shit ton of fun even on stock drive train. Personally have ran 37s on stock axels for years without any major issues and most times I created the issues by going harder than the rig should go ! All I'm saying is to reach there own , if your happy on 37s and stock axles and can meet out on the trails more power to ya . I'm now just going to put parts in my storage locker to minimize the number of times I need to take it off to get them chopped, put in new liners and get them wrapped. Side note, do you think Whipsaw can be done in a stock Rubicon Gladiator? I really want to join your group, but I'm not sure the truck will handle it.

    The day after I got back I took a Sawzall to my fenders. Turned out great; I didn't go too crazy so hopefully I took off enough. If they're not painted you might want to just spray them with Raptor liner. That stuff is awesome. If I do have my rubbing under control, that's what I'll be doing to mine. Whipsaw has bypasses; so yes you can do the entire trail on a stock Gladiator. Don't make plans just yet. I might have to move the event due to BC wildfires. I'm pretty sure Rady is out since there's a fire right where the trailhead starts. I might move to the week of the 19th...but will give it another week before making that call.

    Beautiful footage Cory. Moab is a mountain bike bucket list location for me and it looks like it would be a great time. I applaud your daughter...that takes a lot of guts to be stuck in a small vehicle with you for that length of time.

    Oh yeah; the Sandflats Rec area is FULL of MTB trails! I can absolutely see that as a bucket list for bike nerds. HAHAH! It's not THAT small!!!

    Thanks! It was an adventure from start to finish. They worked flawlessly in Moab and my latest trip to Southern British Columbia. Super happy with how everything is workin. Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it.

    Check out Lucas coatings out of the Crossfield area. He uses endura (industrial mining) paint. Better than powder coating.

    I went with self healing PPF. So far it’s pretty dialed. We’ll see how it holds up.

    I was just up by upper priest lake yesterday with my K5. About 100 miles south west of crowsnest pass. We live in beautiful country!👍

    Do you think a VW Touareg will make it there? The only mod I did is 33 inch tire

    If you had a lift as well I would actually say yes. Everything relies on the nut! - the nut holding the steering wheel. Just don't gun it on loose rock. Son and I did North Fork and back Racehorse one weekend and never even needed to spot.
