For most people these would not be a beginner watercolor. When I first started I used all kinds of cheap watercolors before I ever had the Winsor and Newton Cotman Watercolors. I love them but I have them in pans. I bought the 24 set of half pans and I bought 9 other colors separately and now I have all the colors that I want. I'm glad that you like them so much and gave them a great review.
This art book is for her prosses and what make her art unique, not the basic of drawing
They work the best on black watercolor paper
How strange. I completely fail to relate to this perspective on pacing. I felt the time jumps were not only appropriate, but viscerally satisfying. The general pacing was one of the best things for me during my reading experience. And immersion was no problem at all , I even daydream about being Robin’s friend or a Babel student sometimes myself. To be fair, I do purposely lean towards literature with a more “academic” or “textbook” feel. New age fantasy literature with that aesthetic is hard to come by. Babel is the adult version of what Harry Potter used to be for me when I was 12. I will think and ruminated about it forever. I’ve already quoted it in discussion. And used it as a lesson in my own convictions. I’m sorry you did not get what you wanted from it. Just not the right type of book for everyone.
Agree with your comment....although I am only 80 pages in, I'm loving it. Only watched bits of this video to avoid potential spoilers, but I certainly think it is an engaging read so far (I stop reading books very quickly if they re not!) and I have no idea what is going to happen thus far...
Wow beautiful!
Ryland Grace said that the alien was black as charcoal.
You drew rocky like a robot, but he really wasn't a robot. He was named "Rocky" because he looked and felt much like a rock-like creature.
Try them on black paper. The black paper is the shadow. Build up opacity for highlighting
Try heating the paper from underneath and see if it puffs differently. That is an old school embossing trick to not blow around powder and to help avoid scorching the paper on top.
Great!
This came out lovely! Would you recommend the book year later? I'm a newbie so have no issues with trying to copy out of a how to book, since that is why it exists. I do also try to paint from live examples and my own photo references, but when I'm following a tutorial, I try to make it exactly like the tutorial, lol.
Also, love your drawing❤
I have doubts about the book. I've purchased it, but I have a feeling the characters eill be flat. Glad that other people in yt don't exactly like it😅
You’re not really supposed to use them with that much water, that’s why your swatches look “odd” and sheer. To get less water on the brush, just blend the water a little on the top of the paint pan, or simply wait for the water to sink into the pan just a bit, and you’ll get the most stunning paint you’ve ever seen! 🙂 Ps: if you’re looking for things to paint with them, I suggest trying to add finetec paints as an overlay to paintings of metallic/iridescent-looking insects like scarabs and dragonflies. Finetec is perfect for those subjects! 😊
This was really helpful actually. Thank you for the tip!
No reason why a professional shouldn't use these as some accomplished pros do.

This would’ve been a funny comment if they had been complaining about Kuang being dramatic in her depiction of racism and colonialism but slow and uneven pacing is a very valid reason to say a book was disappointing
💖 'promosm'
amaze amaze amaze!
Google for some reason translates that to "he's gone he's gone!"
I was having a hard time picturing Rocky even after reading the book twice now. Thanks for that illustration it looks great!
You have a new sub from me ❤
I really appreciate you sharing this with us, I’m about to turn twenty and they always say you either make or break it. And I’m really going to take these words to heart, thank you 🖤
Okay, what a fun little extra… for handmade cards definitely!!❤🙌 the penguins turned out really great.
Yes!! New favorite embellishing tool. 🥳
yooooo they are my fav!!! for sketching and what not! just had to get some professional ones too :D
Yesss!! I am super duper impressed with them. Just a really solid option all around. I also love that the professional ones have such a range of half pans. I think I’m up to 4 now - that’s my treat to myself when I go to an art store that happens to carry them. 😅
love all art supplies!
Nice!! Visually seeing progress is so satisfying. Well done!
It so is! Thank you! I feel like your pet portrait series is accomplishing that for you-super impressed with the progress in a short time!!
Great job! I love how smooth your washes are. I struggle with that.
I struggle with them too, especially when I don’t mix enough of a color. I think the key is to keep the leading edge of the wash wet. Easier said than done for sure! 😩
sweet! Ive also never tried these, they look smooth.✨ Looking forward to seeing more of you using them..
Yes!! They're so smooth. I think that's what puts them a step above some of the other beginner watercolors I've used. And its consistent across the range, no outlier colors.
In my experience, the acrylic gouache is really just a matte acrylic paint, it can be watered down like regular gouache but it's not meant to be re-wet at all and it drys really fast so you have to paint with it like it's an acrylic paint.
Yes! Agreed. I’ve had difficulty with it for that reason. Have to put myself in an acrylic paint mindset. I appreciate your insight!!
Ur nailpolish scares me
😂 that’s fair. I’m always trying new things with it. It won’t be for everyone.
Wahoooo❤🙌✨ well done. I really liked your Xmas tree, setting it up is one of my favourite things to do as well.
It’s so nice to have a bit of festive cheer among the chaos of moving. Did you have a great holiday season in your new place as well? 😀
@@craftycrandall totally did, but now it’s all cleaned up till next year. ❤️
@@JudeandherPencil Same, though I kept a strand of LED multicolor lights in my office. :) Year round cheer.
love your personality and your new place. and course the kitty appearence lol. currently have mine on top of me. about 15yrs ago my mom got a short bookshelf from walmart (i think mainstay? not sure) and it's held up since including a boombox so may work if you can find one. and should be about the height
Awww kitty!! Wow, that’s incredible it’s lasted that long! I think I found one at lowes that’ll do the trick, sounds similar-and has room to store larger canvas/watercolor paper! 😀 that’ll be the big studio tour update when I eventually buy and put it together.
Nice job! I've had this book for a little while, but need to get working on it 😃
Thank you! Omg I love your channel name! 🤩 can’t wait to see what you do with the prompts! It’s such a great creativity inciting book.
@@craftycrandall Thanks!
This was fantastic, great painting ✨🙌 she one of my favourite actress, loved her in Queen’s Gambit. Looking forward to 2023 best wishes!
Same!! She was fantastic. And I just saw Amsterdam, she was good in that too. Happy new year!! Let’s make it a great 2023! 🥳
@@craftycrandall oooohh I haven’t yet seen Amsterdam, putting it on the watch list now!!❤️🙌
Happy new year!! What are your art goals this year? In addition to getting better at hair, I also just want to produce a larger body of work this year. Last year I kind of let art take a back seat, but I’d like to jump in with both feet and see what I can create with the time I allocate.
u have a very sharp chin
Lol! That I do.
Your sketchbook looks amazing. I was thinking of buying this book so I did a search and your video popped up.
Thank you so much! Honestly I have continued to derive so much inspiration from this book. It’s awesome, Minnie did a really great job with it.
@@craftycrandall That's great! I have to get it.
Oh crazy, you’re moving… same city or a big move somewhere else? 😂🙌 backpacks, yes!!! I collect those too. I totally wish I would have had your plastic wrap trick for my move. 😅❤ eeeeee, good luck!
Same city. No big move for me! But moving into a house so I can have my own space and complete creative freedom over it. :) thank you so much! I need the luck! 😂 should be a wild next couple months.
@@craftycrandall awesome 🙌 you got this, change is great for shaking things up and re-aligning yourself for the next phase of Life!✨🥰 I’m excited to see how you set up your new space!
It's always nice to look back and appreciate what we've learned. After watching your whole video, one thing that I can relate in my twenties is the idea of savoring every moment, as best as we can. It really does give joy to our lives moving forward. Hope you enjoy the next steps in your life! =)
It’s so true. :) makes such a difference when we appreciate what we have. Thank you so much Jeff! I really appreciate it.
oooh how festive!! i like it! 🎃
...alkyd paint is like... enamel house paint.. its oil-based but quicker drying... the only aklyd paint example I can think of is trim house paint, its super extra-glossy and does not mix with your acrylic paint..😂 Ive been loving Cold brew coffee with pumpkin cream foam, nutmeg, cinnamon mmmmmm. cheers my dear, Happy Halloween!
@@JudeandherPencil Ohhh I see. That makes sense, now that you mention it I feel like I've seen some in my dad's basement. That sounds like a magical coffee! I have to get that before they switch everything to mint! 😯
@@craftycrandall omg Mint!!😂 it’s coming.
Felting looks so fun!! I really look forward to you exploring this further!!
It is so fun! Something a little different but still creative. Highly recommend!
Ohhh yes. I’ve been searching for all the supplies and getting ready to try it myself…till I realize I have a little too much on the go right now and I’d be best to just live vicariously through you for the next bit😂 I will eventually try it and it will be because of you and your videos!!🫶
@@JudeandherPencil Yay! I can't wait for that! You'll make some really amazing creations. Hopefully the hecticness dies down soon. :)
Looks fantastic! Missed the Kickstarter. Must buy a copy! Thx for the great review!✨
It is! Truly a great book for insight to her process. Absolutely! 😊 Thank you for watching!
Great content nice sharing😃beautiful
Beautiful work nice😃😃..
Oooohh I love it! It turned out so stinking cute. Never tried needle felting but I definitely want to now after watching you, cool process!✨🥳and happy belated birthday!
You totally should! It’s a lot different than I anticipated. You really have flexibility to make any shape as long as you’re patient! I’m obsessed now. 😂 and thank you so much!!
Cool! I didn't realize she colabed a box with them.
Happy Birthday!! (August 22?🤔😁🍕) 30 is the new 20 now, Ma'am and you still look very young and pretty🤩. I am really old,( half a century 🙈) and looking back, there's so much I want to undo and make it better. But sadly, life is really spontaneous. No matter how much we plan ahead, things will not be the way how we wanted it to be. With all the uncertainties that is going on right now, I guess we just have to live on a day to day basis. "Carpe Diem" if you have that moment you feel that you want to do what would make you feel good , then just do it 👊😊. Its great to see that at your young age, you have accomplished a lot and I am sure that you will even do more. For me, what I've learned in my very old age, "random"is how I see my life. I stopped organizing and making future plans as it doesn't always come to realization. Not to sound religious or anything, but I guess there is a destined path for each one of us, and it'll just happen at the least expected time we are not aware of. All the best, and I know that you will definitely go a long way! Happy Birthday again!🥳🎈🎁🎊
❤️✨🙌 Welcome to your 30s!!
kzread.infoyD9eScnUAfs?feature=share jump rope is awesome. 👏 I saw this and thought of what you had said! So true.
Ahhh makes me miss kayaking! Lovely and serene. It’s fun to take our art with us. I don’t know about you, but I always remember the experience so much more clearly when I paint it, rather than just snap a photo of it.
Absolutely!! I love looking back at my travel journal to remember my trips. It’s a really lovely way to capture a moment. 😊 I’m only just getting into kayaking, but really enjoying it so far! One day I’ll have my own.
@@craftycrandall I’ve looked at Oru Kayaks-like oragami kayaks! Next summer my splurge!
@@Julie-vy3oz Whoa! I've never heard of those, but I looked them up and they look SO cool! Definitely a great option!!
Woah 😯 the scenery is breathtaking indeed and your painting captured the serenity of the lake. Thank you for taking us along with you to your kayaking and hiking. Never got to experience such an adventure as embarrassing as it may sound, I don't know how to swim 🙈. I enjoy this type of vlog wherein you incorporate a fun activity with art. I remember in your last vlog that you're birthday is approaching 🤔😁. Hope perhaps if its not imposing, that you can share a glimpse of how you plan to celebrate it . Or a painting of what place you want to go or whatever you wish for. Advance Happy Birthday!🥳🎂
It’s not too late! If you’re wearing a life jacket while you kayak, knowing how to swim isn’t really necessary! Particularly in this lake, we weren’t even allowed to get out and swim if we wanted to. The only swimming are was on the beach because the lake itself is so deep and it’s a state owned facility. I hope you get to experience something similar soon-the beauty of nature as observed from such a place is so incredible. ☺️ My birthday is coming up! The next video you see will have a bit about that and how I’m appreciating my advancing age. 😂 Thank you so much!
Great vlog✨ that lake is so stunning ❤️😂so funny you ended up questioning the lakeview trail, I would have too. I liked the infused imagination in your lake painting, super fun. What a great day out.
Hahaha it was such a disappointing trail for being a “lake view” trail! Thank you so much!
