You can’t take an accurate heart rate from your wrist
Burnout is like an injury in a way. I've been struggling with it for a while now, mostly with work. I hope you enjoy your break and find enjoyment in running again, instead of feeling tons of pressure.
Excellent effort!! I bailed out with a DNF at Nagano, Japan two months ago trying to get a sub 3 with similar heart rates in the first 20km. Massive respect with getting it done, best of luck!!
Well done Will - have a break, but hopefully not too long! See ya soon I hope x
Thanks William! Spend some quality time with your kids and wife, and you will come back stronger, faster, and more motivated. Enjoy the break, see you when you get back. Cheers!
You really sound running tired and need a break for a while.............wel It was nice to follow you in this video WU. .........Inga.
Thank you for commenting and watching. Appreciate it 🙏🏽
Well done, Will. Definitely need to listen to your body and take the rest you need. Sub-1:30 is still mighty when you're not feeling it.
Thanks. Yea I hope so. I’ll be back better.
Great video Well done
Thanks for commenting appreciated.
I've had the same issues with lungs in the mornings before especially during the summer if I go out and run, some years it will happen some years it won't. For me it's my hayfever and a bit of asthma, use to have to a take brown inhaler which sorted out the issue temporarily but should get it checked while you have some time off racing incase you plan any races next summer. Saying that great effort on the half, smashed it. Enjoy your break and back stronger 👊🏻
Thanks, yep I’ve made a request for a doctor to try look into my bloods and possible asthma. I’ll see what they can suggest. 🙏🏽
Love the video's hope you feel better soon might see you in millhouses park 😂
Thanks 🙏🏽 yea will be doing some parkruns for sure!
We’re only human Will☺️Look after yourself. Good luck for Valencia. If the sub-3 has to wait until Manchester, it’d be a fairytale✅
Thanks Andy. Hope it’s going well for you, I saw you mention being injured. I won’t be doing Manchester again. My story ended there on the trilogy unfortunately. Maybe in a few years or something but definitely not next year.
@@TheWu I’ve had a heel pain issue since last November, saw podiatrist and did exercises for 3 months, no real improvement so I’ve gone down the Class IV laser route and cut back my running by 75%. Seems to be improving🙏. Good luck in VLC, you’re so close and it’ll happen. Thousands of runners are backing you😊Hopefully we can meet up one day😊
Have a rest and comeback strong 💪🏻.
💯 🙏🏽
Great video! I ran it last week (2024)……toughest race I’ve ever done! Way harder than the Sheff Half but really enjoyed it. Although it was 18 degrees and overcast not 27 and sunny 🙂
It’s awesome isn’t it. I hope I can do it next year. Just hope the events don’t clash on the same date.
@@TheWu I’ve been wondering about the winter version as in if it’s the same route what shoes would you wear!? As you’d need full on claw spec trail shoes for the off road stuff but there’s also a lot of pavement involved as well. I’m not too good at coping with the heat that you ran in last year (so was lucky on that side of things this year) so am thinking the winter one is a safer bet
Mate, sometime away will do you so good. Looking forward to hearing how you’re getting on later in the year. Atb
Thanks I’ll be back for sure 👌🏽
That looked like a nice course. Sounds like a good call to recognise where you are and tweak the goal. Just a thought. Do you think you might have had covid? There seems to be a lot of it about and I got a cough last month not thinking much about it but now I’m wondering if it was covid. Definite effect on my (fairly sedate) running when I tested positive 2 years ago.
Well actually I cut some of the footage of me talking about covid. My wife had been ill on and off a few weeks ago, although we didn’t test for covid she did lose her sense of taste which could suggest it was covid. I was never as ill as her but did have slight symptoms and trained as normal but reduced the sessions and intensity. So yea it was something in my mind but it seems to have been going on for around 2/3 months so not sure.
@@TheWu Interesting article "Runners recovered their training load after 3 months " (post covid) www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC11054059/#:~:text=COVID%2D19%20has%20had%20significant,%2C%20and%20power%20%5B8%5D.
Was nice to meet you briefly pal. We both had stinking races. Let the body recover and come back mate I enjoy these videos
Thanks 🙏🏽, there’s always next time! Hopefully we both make it a better race next year.
I have been struggling with exactly the same symptoms for a few months now, no luck with the docs and have been suspecting burnout! Hope you feel better for a break 😊
I’ve just made a request for the docs to look into bloods. Not sure if they will or not. How did you fix it? Just rest?
Burnout is no joke as currently experiencing it myself due to an intense contract job that made me not have a break in 2 years and has lead to be quitting a new job 1 week in as just no energy to do anything, only people who have experienced burnout will relate. Have a good one mate.
Yea I’ve never really understood burnout and overtraining before. I’m hoping it is this and I can fix it. It’s definitely new to me this feeling and it’s hard to describe to people as it’s more a general thing over weeks and months.
Take it easy, Will. I'm sure the break will do you good 👍🏻🏃♂️
Thanks mate.
Enjoy the break lad , take care
Cheers 🙏🏽
Well done al the best with your running I doing chester marathon in oct 6done it be for my second one I see your video be for theny are good
Thanks , good luck in Chester!
Well done mate. Hope to see you back at it soon. I think you’re doing the right thing.
Much appreciated man!
I used to get exercise induced asthma at this time of year. Something they sprayed on the crops I think. Get yourself checked out as you don't wany this dragging into marathon training.
Yep just made an online request at the docs to see if I can get bloods checked and I mentioned possible allergy/asthma advice on it. Hope this is just all fine and it’s just overtraining.
Enjoy your break! Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you, I will 🙏🏽
Get those lungs checked budd, and get some blood work done check all is ok, enjoy some pressure off time. I too have taken the pressure off from running, still 3 days on it but then 3 days at gym doing gymnastic, rings and callisthenics, breath of fresh air and feel stronger for it. ❤❤
Yea I’ve just made a request for a appointment at the docs to hopefully get my bloods checked. Hopefully it’s all good and just down to overtraining.
Have a good break mate! We all need a reset from time to time and for sure you’ll come back stronger and crush those PBs👏🏾 hope all is well with your health too!🙏🏾
Thanks man. I’ll be back 💯
I didnt know much about the derbion ramathon, when i watched it on youtube your video was the first one to come up You are the main reason i did it this year....shame i didnt get to meet ya....defo next time il find ya at the derbion lol Anyways have a good earned break bro👌
That’s great! Makes the videos worth making when someone decides to be inspired.
Have a good break! RSR was again brilliant and no heatwave conditions this year! Was your brother doing the RSR…I think was running with him on the same wave.
Yes I had big fomo! I hope these 2 races don’t clash again next year.
Hi Will. I was the guy in the white vest at about 8:45 outside the Derby ground. Was great to meet you and run alongside you for a short while that day. Enjoy your time off, look forward to seeing you come back stronger than ever 👍🏻
Ah thanks man. Good to share some of the run with you.
Rest well. 😂bet u will sign up something. We always do. Hope u recover fast, take care
Yea haha , well it really depends on how I feel in the next month. If I’m still feeling the same I don’t think running anyway event would be enjoyable to be honest.
Take breather and try and reset for Valencia Will. I done Valencia a few years ago and it’s an outstanding race and a true running city. Refresh and try and get excited for it because it will be worth it for a PB attempt. see you on a screen soon 🫶
Yes I’m not sure what Valencia will be yet if it’s a holiday type run or a sub 3 attempt. I’ll see how it goes.
We will wait for you will 🫶
Cheers 👍🏽
Have good break, mentally and physically! See you soon!
100% then plan.
Take all the time you need Will. Take care of yourself. Great to see you at the water station. Top man. We love The Wu. ❤
Thanks Mark , good seeing you there!
Always a good day when The Wu uploads
Haha true!
Great job Will, this youtubing takes up so much time, people don't know unless they do it. You deserve a break, I should have come for this race but I got the GN -10k tmrw. Hope you sort your lung soon. For what's it worth I've been taking iron supplements in liquid form to get my feratin level up, for about the last 6 months or so. Has made a big difference (heard it from Nathan at RUNDREAMACHEIVE). Im thinking of getting a full sorts blood profile test done too, see if I'm missing something. But recently my training is going through the roof, amazing ! See you soon mate
Hi Matt Yea I’ve just made a request at the docs to try get my bloods and stuff checking , see if they can. If not I’ll do one of them online private things. Also resting and will run occasionally to see if it’s better with rest from possible over training. Well done on the 10km I saw you did well!
@@TheWu thanks yeah had a cracking run, went out hard, knowing I might regret it but turn out good in the end 😂 only my 2nd 10k, but they are hard work 🥵
If you've been struggling with the breathing for a few weeks you might want to get it checked out. Probably nothing too serious if you're still running a half in well under 90 mins, but it could be a seasonal allergy issue or a bit of asthma. Enjoy your time off racing, I'm sure you'll come back strong for the winter! 💪
Just submitted a request for a doctors appointment asking about this allergy/asthma. I’ll see what they suggest. Thanks 🙏🏽
Well done Wu considering the situation. Still a cracking time. Take a well deserved break, I'm sure that you will come back stronger!
Thanks man, that’s the plan !
Have a good break mate. We totally understand 👊🏻❤️
Thanks Barry! Mumbai bye bye
no PB but still a good run! 💪
Yep we can’t always chase Pbs.
I tried to see you at the race knowing you have done it the past few years. Your videos got me into running in the first place. Unfortunately it did not go to plan at all for me on the day, my knee went approximately 2 miles into it so basically had an 11 mile walk afterwards. Injuries happen but it's so frustrating when they do
Sorry your race was ruined! Running can be frustrating sometimes I understand for sure. Just have to remember there’s always another day.
You completed an entire marathon! How can you be gutted? So few people on the planet ever achieve such a thing. Your perspective is wonky. Be joyful. We disabled are so happy for you!
Thank you 🙏🏽 yes I am glad I did it in end.
Just cruising... to a 1:25. Legend.
Well sort of hard cruising lol
Do you wear a water carrier or just take drinks handed along route
I normally don’t carry water for a half unless it’s super hot. Water from the stations is usually fine for half marathons.
Great. Trying to get into this training lark, so many different approaches
Yea just go with what makes you comfortable. Test and see how you feel with and without carrying water for certain distances.
Thanks. Got to get into routine of running for long distances first 😊
Any suggestions on approach or plans
When you say the fitness, what exactly was needed to help you hold pace?
I think looking back it was more my preparation for the nutrition and strength conditioning. I didn’t really carb load properly for this.
Great vid, helps us who are planning to run it see what it's really like. Ignore the prick comment about the camera. Anyway, where did you get your soar vest from? And why is a guy with a Mancunian accent supporting that rubbish team?
Hi Thanks for the comments. I got the soar vest years ago from their official site but they don’t sell this design anymore.
@@TheWu thanks, looks mint (apart from the smell after leaving it unwashed 😂😂😂)
The Emptihad has never seen so many people before!
🤣
The guy at 10:41 was having a blast 😂
Haha loved it
Super like my friend. I have the same goal at the same place in october '24
Thanks 🙏🏽 hope the weather is better for you! Good luck 🤞🏽
I forgot my Hr monitor for the Edinburgh marathon. Best thing I could have done. You can sometimes get too obsessed with it
Yea it’s a forgotten skill for most of us, being able to run without the tech.
