going to get to highland in 2024 thanks for the video...see you out there
Good race. Not much room to pass.
Phil, we need to get together to go mtn biking!!
Great driving Phil! You were faster than me and could have dumped me 100 times but you didn't. Lots of respect!
you were chasing rob pac ;)
nice laps phil!
Awesome seeing you back out on the track Phil! Fantastic way to re-find the fun!
I'm going there tomorrow and need to beat the person I'm going with. He keeps bragging about how he beats the records there. So I know the strategy is to hug the apex and the go wide on the straight parts. are you braking when you go around the apex or are you just letting off the gas a little? at what point do you start/stop this? thank you!
Maintain mid corner momentum, by that point you're on power, brakes to be released by the apex. This was a few years ago prior to them putting the sticky compound stuff on track.
Yes Phil, need to go faster fella ha ha
How are the SM7s for single lap? I just picked up some SM7.5s for my Miata for LRP's butterfly course but don't know how they'll perform over a single lap autocross
If you get the pressure set, its not too bad. I usually would run like 32 cold, but this time I set it to 26 cold, got up to around 30 hot I think. They obviously won't be as quick as an 'A' compound, but they get the job done. I usually run an 8 inch wide wheel, but these are mounted on a set of 7's. Heat cycles do become a function, after 20 cycles they're hurting. These have a little under that,. My car is also ~2800lbs with me, 220ish hp and torque. I launch in 2nd gear, grab 3rd, then finish in 2nd.
@@philakamrbean thanks for the reply! I’ll have to try them out at an event once I’m done with using them at Lime Rock. I haven’t made it to any CART races yet this year but plan to, possibly as early as this weekend! Mine is about 2350 lbs with me in it, and ~180 whp and a bit less torque. Hope to see you on track sometime soon!
got to push harder. it will click the automatic's kick down switch.
Video starts at 1:51
nice job. i had a 43.4 earlier today that im decently proud of. congrats on the record!
Thanks! I haven't been back since May when I left the area (was there for a few weeks for work) but am wanting to make a trip back!
Thanks for coming! You definitely get all of that car!
Thanks for having me as an instructor! I think t3 is the only turn I actually had legit front end grip. The karting helps with this, particularly looking to the apex prior to turn in allowing me to sight reference my markers and be as consistent as possible...in a car thats a handful.
How long did it take you to pick the seat out of your butt?
I honestly think some of the lessons I learned at sakc have directly transferred over as it relates to the car floating across the surface.
Nicely held sir!
What Kart number was this on?
I honestly can't remember at this point. A good rule of thumb is that every 4-6 weeks or so any kart, and any track, will change personality.
Nice one Flipper 👍
thanks! Not too shabby for tires that are old enough to be in elementary school!
Nicely driven Phil, don't think I've ever heard or seen a response of laughter following a spin before :P
Don't be pretending you don't like the slidy slidy! Well done!!
How fast are these karts?
My average lap speed was 52/53 mph. They're quick enough to catch your attention if you're being a hoon. These aren't the typical 'family entertainment center' type of kart, nor is this that type of facility. If you're looking for quality karts and a proper karting experience, this is it.
what was ur lap times I went this past Friday and ran a 57.6 but the track was a little slick after rain
If I remember correctly times were in that ballpark. Karts are super not equal, so it's harder than it should be to compare unfortunately.
@@philakamrbean Yup, the karts vary a ton - it's possible you got a bit unlucky. I was able to get a 57.15 on one but struggled to get sub 60 on another. Don't trust the Mountain Dew kart!
@@MinecrafterPiano That was exactly my experience, first kart I was struggling to get to 60 seconds, the other kart was 3 seconds quicker.
that was an awsome experience
Dang, those karts are so much slower than they used to be.
4:45 Beautiful draft and overtake. Adrenaline was running just watching this battle.
The Cone Magnet is strong in this one......hmmmmmm, nice one flipper
Nice close racing.. But leave those cones alone ;) :P
This shorter track seems to flow better than the longer one.. Would be too twisty for me, but you seemed to be really getting into it this race! Well done!
For those playing along at home, Lap 5 is the fast lap
Wish the track was like that now just went last week and couldn’t stay in the throttle around the a turn would spin out every time
Surprised that all the water didn't hydrolock the engine. Also, it's really nice that these karts have fenders.
Man, you are crazy, but it looked fun.
That was awesome! So much water, yet well.. sailed!
prop and rudder would have helped a lot!
and maybe some floaties :D
@@mattluettgen I think the tide was actually coming in!
That was awesome, but very bumpy in places. Nice to see you had at least one driver on your pace.
That's a nice smooth flowing track. 👌 Congrats on the record.
Round the outside nice one Phil! I wouldn't have the strength for this anymore! - Loving the giggling ;)
Great racing with you! Will post my videos tonight hopefully
That was a proper hoot last night! Turns 2 and 3 (the double apex right) seems to be where time is lost or found.
@@philakamrbean didn't change much with my lines sans entry/exit of 3 and picked up a second yesterday. Now I just have to find that 1/2 second to catch up to you :D
@@philakamrbean you going to be back out there tonight? If so, what time?
@@mattluettgen not this evening, currently at cota trying this place out. Will be back down at sakc next Thursday for sure though about 4-430
Nice driving Phil & great job on the lap record! Nice one!!
Kick butt there Phil 😜
Holy crap that save towards the end! Nice!!
I was in that race. Got 5th first lap of that race was a nightmare lol
Nice channel. What in Life Is beautiful to you? #great :d
You feel nice gains with the chip?
The motor did have a flatter power curve, and would happily rev to 5300, but there was no point in spinning the motor that much because peak power was at 4500. It certainly woke it up.
Finally something other than v8's running the beyea. Been looking at these myself for something that tucks up more than the current muffler I am running. Figure it would sound ok on a 2jzge. Thanks for sharing.
not a problem! I like how they are small, I used it as a 2nd muffler after the jones resonator and a jones chambered muffler. It helped take out that last little bit of irritable noise and made it a better note. And it was cheap!
Recorded with sony external mic on a gopro
Late 80s 3 series?
yup. 86 325e
Omg
holy crap phil this was tough to watch!
Christopher Fuhrmann yes it is. awful aiptek camera and a brutal surface. chunks of asphalt were coming up
SLICK MURRAY
I had a lot of fun watching you ride the slip angles!
thanks! I started the day on some 460treadwear street tires vs going out on slicks on the wet track. that was an adventure!
