Yeah man, go for it! They are good little boats for the money and I can already see spending more on upgrades to make it better. If you don't mind the looks, I'd go for the Tylosaurus.. it's a little more money but worth it for the parts included, plus it comes with a 4S ready 120A ESC. I just prefer the looks of this one

Yeah that's one thing that kind of drew me to it. Central Fla is littered with small lakes and ponds all over the place. Mostly private, but thanks to Google, it's pretty easy to find a spot on the fly. This boat is a good entry level craft if you're thinking about it.

Remember throttle control! Sorry I had to repeat it🤣 Yeah man looking good now! I would say you may need some different turning blades or adjust your existing ones, it was funny the flying fish flip out of the water but that was a issue I had with one boat and I found the turn blades were just wrong for that particular hull and caused it to dig in one way and roll in strange ways. Yours only done it ones though so maybe just coincidence it looked like a serious issue🤷

I plan on upgrading that hardware but honestly overlooked the fins because I didn't really understand how they affect performance. The rudder also has a bit of play, but it's not really noticeable driving the boat. Muuuch better than that WL915 though!

The 4S packs I ordered are actually 60C, but C ratings aren't always accurate. I have seen other people run these same packs (HRB brand), so it should be ok with this ESC. Next upgrade is a 120A of some kind, and if it runs fast enough for my liking (new prop included) I'll probably keep it on 4S. Going 6S will require a new motor and mount, moving the battery tray to center, and probably a stronger flex drive. It seems pretty beefy, but I have seen multiple other people complain about breaking shafts and drive dogs.. but that could be the older versions. One way to find out!

Yep, it could have been much worse.. but it was worth a shot. I just wish UDI wasn't so mysterious with their specs, but I have the Flycolor 70A in there now and it's clearly labeled 2-6S

What you can jump the boanuts?! Awesome. This joint looks nimble. Apologies if I’ve asked this before but how bad is salt water on these boats? All I have is salt water around me and I’m really interested in getting a boat. Congrats on adding this one to your fleet. Looks like a winner👍✌🏼

Yeah, it needs some more power for my liking, but not bad for a baseline run. I really like how it looks and handles tho. The only thing you have to worry about with salt water is make sure you rinse out any if it gets in the boat and you have to pull the flex shaft out and grease it after every run in the ocean. Fresh water you can probably get away with 3-4 runs between greasing

I'm really tempted to try it, but don't wanna fry another motor 😆 ..did some research and it looks like the ESC is a 120A unit but the motor is only rated for 3-4S. If your stock motor is holding up ok, I might just do it!

@@scaleworksRCagain it's a risk ,use a temp gun. I run a light 1300 mah 6s pack, it has to be turned sideways to fit and get the hatch closed. Oh and when you run 6s when you crash from going too fast lol it blows the outer cabin cover off and it sinks. I put small chunks of foam to make it float. Works great and if you put tape across the front nose of it it usually stays on, short runs on 6s 1300 mah 3 minutes!!! 4s with your bigger prop might be really fun 👍🏼

Just get a nice 3 or 4 cell set up for this boat and have it for a fun nice riding boat when the next project boat has problems. Tunnel hulls always look nice on the water. The alarm is going off because when you are using the motor it is drawing power from the batteries which brings the voltage on the battery lower. When you are checking the batteries with the voltage alarm the motor is not drawing any power so you get a higher reading. I hear the udi005 is a good project boat at 25” and not very expensive. Looking at adding one to my fleet.

Yeah that sounds right about the alarm, and good idea for a project boat, but it's already been scrapped. Learned my lessons on that tiny hull with it's limitations, but I do want to build a proper tunnel hull someday

Forgot to mention, the ESC is not labeled and it looks like a 40 or 50A deal. Also, there is no fan.. it just looks like there's one there with that weird vent on it. Overall it looks like a solid boat for the money and I will run the included nose cone to prevent any accidents in the future

Yup.. she should ride a lot better with this hull in comparison. I'm learning that F1 hull is kinda outdated and a hydroplane is the way to go in that realm. I'm probably gonna run it tonight when the rain lets up!

You’ve completely sold me on rc boats. So relaxing to see the ripples. The rain was a nice addition visually. I especially like that whirlpool you made towards the end. What you can jump the boanuts?! Awesome. This joint looks nimble. Apologies if I’ve asked this before but how bad is salt water on these boats? All I have is salt water around me and I’m really interested in getting a boat. Congrats on adding this one to your fleet. Looks like a winner👍✌🏼
Yeah, it needs some more power for my liking, but not bad for a baseline run. I really like how it looks and handles tho. The only thing you have to worry about with salt water is make sure you rinse out any if it gets in the boat and you have to pull the flex shaft out and grease it after every run in the ocean. Fresh water you can probably get away with 3-4 runs between greasing
On 6s it will come to life! Or burn up 😂 lol, but honestly I run 6s and the boat is amazingly overpowered but so fun! ✌🏼😎👍🏼
I'm really tempted to try it, but don't wanna fry another motor 😆 ..did some research and it looks like the ESC is a 120A unit but the motor is only rated for 3-4S. If your stock motor is holding up ok, I might just do it!

@@scaleworksRCagain it's a risk ,use a temp gun. I run a light 1300 mah 6s pack, it has to be turned sideways to fit and get the hatch closed. Oh and when you run 6s when you crash from going too fast lol it blows the outer cabin cover off and it sinks. I put small chunks of foam to make it float. Works great and if you put tape across the front nose of it it usually stays on, short runs on 6s 1300 mah 3 minutes!!! 4s with your bigger prop might be really fun 👍🏼
@@mikesrcgarage Definitely, I keep a temp gun with me for speed runs and hot days. I have the stock 3S from this one and the 915 to run in series. Both low C rating and thin, so they should fit and run ok. What brand are you running?

Just get a nice 3 or 4 cell set up for this boat and have it for a fun nice riding boat when the next project boat has problems. Tunnel hulls always look nice on the water. The alarm is going off because when you are using the motor it is drawing power from the batteries which brings the voltage on the battery lower. When you are checking the batteries with the voltage alarm the motor is not drawing any power so you get a higher reading. I hear the udi005 is a good project boat at 25” and not very expensive. Looking at adding one to my fleet.
Yeah that sounds right about the alarm, and good idea for a project boat, but it's already been scrapped. Learned my lessons on that tiny hull with it's limitations, but I do want to build a proper tunnel hull someday

@bigbristv Yep.. unfortunately, I burned out the motor trying to get that full 100% 😁 didn't feel like replacing or custom fitting another one, so I got a better boat instead 👍

Yeah man! Lots more room for go fast parts, but first I'm gonna get a baseline with the stock battery and the CNHL packs I got for the other boat. I think it will be plenty fast out of the box though! 🤜🤛

Forgot to mention, the ESC is not labeled and it looks like a 40 or 50A deal. Also, there is no fan.. it just looks like there's one there with that weird vent on it. Overall it looks like a solid boat for the money and I will run the included nose cone to prevent any accidents in the future

Yup.. she should ride a lot better with this hull in comparison. I'm learning that F1 hull is kinda outdated and a hydroplane is the way to go in that realm. I'm probably gonna run it tonight when the rain lets up!

You’ve completely sold me on rc boats. So relaxing to see the ripples. The rain was a nice addition visually. I especially like that whirlpool you made towards the end. I totally relate to the sadness that comes with losing your cat. I’m still haunted by my dogs passing last year. Hopefully things start brightening up soon. Have a great weekend 👍✌🏼
Yup, this one was fun for the money but I just cooked the motor after cleaning and testing 6S again 😆 I like how the prop churns through the water and yeah.. it's a different kinda chill. Have a good one as well my friend!
