The part of the video for me was that Duff, the bass player who is hugging him, was the one who helped him get off drugs for awhile.

That’s Scott’s wife, Mary Forsberg, in the video …. they were both very addicted to heroin, cocaine, alcohol etc. If you get a chance read their books. Mary’s is called “Fall to Pieces” and she lays out their history it’s very sad. Both of them suffered from Bipolar Disorder as well and the drugs made them “feel normal” check the books out

mobb deep made hard core lyrics seductive ,with the poetical word scapes, smooth but menacing cadence and jazzy boom bap music which was popular at the time , Before you know it you are fully locked inside their dystopian dank vision of life, that is real artistery , they transmit that energy to you and you rap along with them and feel as dope as them.. you look beyond the darkness of the lyrics and see inside the minds of the young men of the time who could relate to this life style.....being only 19 with an old mind, suggests that he won't make it to old age, since he lives an existence of diamonds and guns where life is definately cheap, they are not goading you into the life style or forcing the life style on you..they are saying, you want to live this life, but you dont want the consequences.... this is one of the realest songs ever. ....the reviewers did the song zero justice, and missed a perfect oppurtunity to show that they were not bots reviewing a vid just because everyone else was,

The riff on this song is so heavy and meaty, the slower tempo of Alice in Chains combined with those dark, heavy rifts and Cantrell's guitar tone.. just doesn't get old. Grind, Brush Away, What The Hell Have I, Them Bones, Again, We Die Young, even the newer stuff with songs like Stone and Not The One You Know, all have killer riffs that just suck you in. Alice in Chains is the people's champ of the 90's era rock movement. Their stuff ages like vintage wine and the new stuff is still so well-written. It's different sure, it has to be, but Jerry, Sean, Mike, and now William still sound great. What a legacy.

Being a junkie never ends well. Scott was an amazing fit for this band but sadly couldn't kick his habit. Slash was a junkie himself in GNR and was wanting to stay away from that stuff by doing music to stop himself from falling back into the habit. Even Duff had his vices and got himself sorted out with martial arts training of which he tried to get Scott to do but to no avail. In the end Slash had enough of Scott not turning up to the studio etc. as he'd put up with all that from Axl previously so ultimately Scott was fired. Would love to see Velvet Revolver reform at some point.

Should be noted that Scott did not die from heroin overdose, although he had struggled for several years with addiction. His autopsy detailed a combination of narcotics and heart disease combined with asthma for a combined cause of death. From Wiki: The medical examiner later determined Weiland's death was the result of an accidental overdose of cocaine, alcohol, and methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA). In its report, the examiner's office also noted Weiland's atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, history of asthma, and prolonged substance abuse. Sadly, All those years of substance abuse caught up with him alone on a tour bus.

Te formation of Mad Season is very sad when you think of the situations. Alice in Chains was in between albums and wasnt touring. Layne was a drug addict and wasnt doing good left alone so these guys formed this band to try and keep Layne involved in music and away from the day in and day out of his addiction.

This album really captured the vibe of the environment they were living in. Crime ridden, poverty, kill or be killed... The albums production was dark and grimy and really matched the vibe of the lyrical content. Despite this particular song being super agressive alot of the songs on this album were reflective, and touched on wanting to escape that type of life & situation.. which they eventually did with the success of this album.
