    Hi Timothy sorry for responding late - I've had the most success with Pearl, White, Monkey Milk and Ghost patterns to replicate shad - In muddy water I use Dull/High visibility combos like Pearl/Pink, white/red or Chartreuse/pink. Hope this helps - thanks for Watching!!!

  • @crushincrappie6525
    @crushincrappie65253 ай бұрын

    Hi Lawrence - I use Shimano/Daiwa 1000/2000 reels for Crappie Fishing - very inexpensive reels for the common man but great reels for crappie. They're 5.0:1 ratio reels. Thanks for the question!! and thanks for watching - more to come!!

    Does the barrel swivel not deter the crappie from biting to some degree ?

  • @crushincrappie6525
    @crushincrappie65253 ай бұрын

    Great question! Generally speaking no... I use the swivel config primarily in deep water scenarios where I'm fishing over deep brush piles. I use a light-line leader attached by swivel so that during break-off scenarios I only loose the leader and not the entire rig. But the use of a swivel is totally dependent on where and how you're fishing but whether you're fishing shallow or deep, as long as you're fishing above the crappie and are conscious of the water clarity so as to consider a gold vs silver vs a darker color swivel - you should be fine! Having said that - there are several applications where a leader/swivel are not advantageous - just depends on how you're fishing - But I've caught lots of fish this way! Hopes this helps! Thanks for the questions and thank you so very much for watching!!

    As always, another great instructional video..Question: regarding fish heading to deep water in winter transition stage, do crappie tend to head out of the creek arm like bass, or if the creek has water over 30 ft deep plus, will they "stay local" in the deeper water of the same creek arm...Thanks again. God Bless You and your family, sir...

  • @crushincrappie6525
    @crushincrappie65256 ай бұрын

    Excellent Question!! Sorry for just getting back!! Typically Crappies will move out of the Creek arms, even if the creek is deep , so as not to expend so much energy in moving water at colder temperature. The crappies will look for more stable water water conditions which usually present as deeper basins at about the 25 to 30ft mark where conditions are more stable, and the bottom forage hatches are close and they don't have to ex[pend as much energy for maintenance. Hope this helps!! Have you been out!! been real cold here! I'm hoping to get out soon in the dead of winter and try to get into'em!! Tight lines Sir!!! and as always!!! thanks for watching!!!

  • @crushincrappie6525
    @crushincrappie65256 ай бұрын

    Great question - for that area of cover - about 20' The fish were laying in the break and the Shad were suspended above them deeper into the channel a bit - they were circling in an area of stable water(25-30') and the Crappies were advantageously feeding on them! Hope this answers your question and please don't hesitate to ask more! Thanks again for watching Sir!!

All the docks but the main one, close to the Marina, will gone by the time you arrive - hopefully you'll be able to launch there. If so... there is a timbered Cove(with Visible standing timber) this time of year that you may want to try. You could also try the cove directly across the lake from it about a mile(you can find it on the lake map). Please troll very slowly through these areas from the bow of your boat as they are heavily timbered. You could check the entrances as a start. Hope this helps - All the best and enjoy!!
