    This , if original, is the 289 cubic inch Ford engine Cobra. Although having much less horsepower that the later 427 engine, they were still so bad, that they would put skid marks on your skivvies.

    Back in the 70s we used to Cruise at Brackenbridge Park, anyone with a car or truck would Cruise, but the Gentleman with his Blue Cobra and his hot looking wife stole the show, the rumble of that big block was super awesome, never heard any other car come close,

    Nothing, and I do mean nothing... Has the furious passion of a 427 in every note of it's exhaust, you can feel the visceral brutality of what 485hp is all about... In 1965. In a car that weighs LESS than your Ford Focus family hatchback. Eyeball flattening acceleration? Check! Deafening roar at 6,000 RPM? Check! Adrenaline overdose? Check! The brilliance of the Shelby team to create such wonders as the GT40 MK1 & Le Mans winning MK2, the Cobra, the Daytona Coupé, the Mustangs.... No better homage to this than to keep these original masterpieces running and people enjoying driving them.

    Sad. I collect cars, too. But I also actually drive them.

    There once was a sad Cobra who sat in his garage all the time because each of his owners were too timid to actually take him out and play with him. I remember one time one of the most beautiful automotive sights I've ever seen. I was driving on Pacific Coast Highway through Malibu and there in the tiny driveway of one of the seaside homes (one of the smaller homes along PCH) was a Ferrari Daytona Spider. It's red paint was dulled from the sun and it clearly was driven every day. Again, the most beautiful automotive-related sight I've ever seen.

    When I saw the .5 mile stat, this was my feeling as well. Is that the best appreciation of a work of art of this type?

    When you get out of a Ferrari you're not sore. Cobras are rough. You can drive a Ferrari to dinner with your lady in an evening gown.

    We dove my 427 Cobra 800 miles on our honeymoon in 1970. I find my Cobra to be fairly comfortable except it gets hot in warm weather.

    Thanks for your brilliant bit of wisdom! However, who would park a 427 Cobra and walk off and leave it unattended? BTW a Cobra is a tough man’s car that can handle a little “rough”.......you stick to the ferraris.....

    @trailerparkcryptoking5213 I drove my Cobra as my daily driver for the first 4 years I owned it. In those 4 years, I added almost 50,000 miles. I once drove it to Hermosa Beach and parked it while I went swimming. It was on a holiday weekend, so lots of folks walked by the car. When I got back to the car after several hours, I discovered I had left the key in the ignition. Now it was under the tonneau cover, so it wasn't in plain site but it still was a pretty stupid thing to do. I drive the car with a bare key. I'm tall (6'6"), and if I use a key chain, my knee hits it and turns off the ignition. I found this out the day I first drove the car. My first thought was, "Oh shit I just paid $4,995 for a car that died on me after driving only a few blocks.

    It's a little bit of both. After Shelby won the 65' World Manufacturer's Championship, 10 were commissioned to be built. Over the next 30 years, only 4 were ever built but only two remain in existence. Paul Walker (from Fast and Furious) owned one (CSX1010), and this is the other one (CSX4505).

    Here is a KZread video that describes the car that Paul Walker (Fast and Furious) owned, which is the other one of these. kzread.info/dash/bejne/o3x4zainiJa1j7Q.html

    Any Shelby American Cobras built after 1967...including CSX1000 cars are not original Shelby Cobras, they would be considered Continuation Cars.

  • @phils2180
    @phils2180Ай бұрын

    @@jamesyost1257 Shelby didn't race these in '65 because it missed the homologation deadline. When ford pulled the plug on the Cobra the (race) cars already built were prepped for street use and sold off as SC models. Less than 20 of these original SC's exist.
