20:43 I think we all agree there is definitely (allegedly) one single person who could be blamed as the lynch-pin of the whole debacle. But I won't say their name here, I don't need any lead injections...

There's already been to much story telling at Boeing. It needs someone very pragmatic with a proven track record of honesty to build trust with the unions,FAA,customers, suppliers, etc Where you find someone like that in the current economic age i'm not sure.

Boeing should have put the 757 back into production again.Could have done it quick and saved money with a new engine and a composite wing. The old Boeing at worst would have done the max and a new design 797 for the future. You are so right about Boeing hating the workers and treating them so bad.At this point the airlines are complacent in the Boeing con job. They can't afford to lose any aircraft in their fleets.

The Boeing Board of Directors are probably the most evil and greedy individuals that have ever been on a board. They are absolutely repulsive criminals. They murdered people for profit and they are still doing it.

GPS (GNSS) was designed to help ground and sea-based vehicles navigate, i.e, locations that could only triangulate based on receiving above-the-horizon signals. What's different about aircraft are that they can receive up-coming signals from ground stations. The triangulation algorithms work in 3D, and actually work better if beacons completely surround the nav space forming a spherical shell. Therefore, GPS ground-based augmentation better envelops an aircraft with beacons both above and below. A ground beacon will have more precision in its broadcast 3D location than a satellite. This suggests that airports can field their own local ground-based GPS beacon set for very-high precision LNAV landings, even allowing safe operations in zero visibility fog / rain / snow. These beacons would be designed with anti-jamming protections (spectrum hopping), and collision-avoidance radar-lidars would verify a clear runway in zero visibility.

Boeing will NEVER get their corporate culture credibility back as long as they don’t return their Headquarters back to Seattle. It’s not the only thing Boeing needs to do to turn the company’s reputation around but if they don’t, then Boeing’s reputation will never recover. China is poised to surpass Boeing and become the 2nd largest aircraft manufacturer after Airbus in the next 10 years, especially if Boeing’s current mismanagement continues.

The MD management ruined what Boeing was. The MAX's issues are similar to the A300 before it. There were crashes caused by software over 30 years before the first crash of the MAX from MCAS.

I'd say that when the directional command of a given vehicle (2 or 3 axis) can receive dual inputs, the circular idea comes to mind. Boats first and cars very quickly adopted the principle, leaving behind the bar (that is still found in the lighter sailing boats). The wheel started being applied to civil aviation, letting the bar to the military. The adoption of the side stick was not necessary in the context of the fly by wire revolution. It was instead expression of an ingenuous radicalism. It fails to address equally the dextarity issue, unavoidable when there is a side by side command. The need for a real feedback of the controlling actions came from the dangers of non intuitive perceptions, leading to failures of the essential awareness. The current try doesn't cover the dextarity issue. Not enough good. In my mind it's frivoulous to argue with weight and "domestic" arrangements (table, etc).

I'm predicting yet another bean counter type in the mold of Jack Welch, especially since he really messed up GE. These guys simply cannot learn anything. The same happened with McDonnell Douglas. They caused a lot of loss of multiple skills and this is important. The core business philosophy leaves compan less able. The move back will never happen and unions will get nothing

I still wonder, why there are no navigation computers that combine the data from all ground based navaids. They are still more reliable than GNSS. You see, GNSS satellites are just too far to rely on for important things ... I had cases while driving my car to see that my satnav shows completely wrong position, and knowing that, I would use GNSS only for additional navaid in an airplane ... And will start to ignore it as soon as there is disagreement with the other navigation methods. But, the other methods still require manual effort, which naturally makes them less reliable than they can be ... So, a computer that relieves that will come in very handy ...

The stock market is a trap. Having a hoard of investors who don't know or care what you do, but expect you to produce infinite money for them, will only ever lead to outcomes like this. They will appoint a bunch of high-functioning psychopaths to wring as much blood from the stone as possible, then get out before the company's value drops off a cliff. If Boeing were owned by the people who actually did the work there, they'd still be prioritizing long-term stability and quality products, and there'd be no place for this get-richer-quicker garbage.

I am closely associated with multiple Boeing insiders. Management sends out company-wide emails fairly regularly that threaten anyone who speaks to someone outside the company. Not more than an hour after the two recent whistleblower deaths broke, a blanket email went out demanding radio silence under threat of legal action. Infer what you will.
