I'm finding just how bad of a fish keeper I actually am. I was convinced that a RODI system was needed only to find out later that it's not the best idea since it removes absolutely everything of value from the water. I have also been doing weekly water changes as my 5 gallon tank looks like crap after about 5 days....but I have been doing major water changes thinking that it's helping

I know it's been 3 years, but did you put new silicone on top of old silicone inside of that tank?

Shout out to the cichlid in the background for bringing in the comic relief when this video got to the saddest part. Fish tantrum digging is the best remedy for humans suffering from sadness due to their fish having dropsy, apparently.

I really like your video. Right now I am experiencing cloudy water. I did a small water change and my tetra whispered internal filters were so dirty some I replace them with new ones. It cleared up almost instantly but 2 days later my aquarium started to look cloudy again. What did I do wrong? Any suggestions will be great ty

I don't know where you are getting your wood from, but here in southern Indiana, the oak is expensive. $100 for two oak, 8 ft. 2 x 4's. I came from Kentucky where there are oak trees and sawmills are everywhere. In Indiana, it's a different world. Nothing but farmland here.

Hi Travis! I love your videos, you always explain everything so clearly! My question...I just did a water change for my single Betta in his 9 gallon tank (he does not have tank mates). I was in the middle of the water change and my tap water started running slightly brown. I'm thinking the city is flushing. I added that water which was about 2 gallons into his 9 gallon tank. I normally add 24 drops of Prime but after seeing that the dose can be safely increased, I added an extra 10 drops making it a total of 34 drops. Will Prime take care of the sudden brown tint in the added tap water? I also added Seachem Stress Guard, just in case. What are your thoughts?

So essentially the cost to keep a goldfish is going to far outweigh the original cost of the goldfish so stay away from goldfish.

You demand huge tanks for goldfish for them to thrive. While simultaneously keeping hideously distorted fish corruptly bred for profit. All to satisfy the fancy goldfish keeper and wealthy competitor in the fish "beauty" stakes. If it was a dog they'd have flat noses, stumpy legs, their tongues hanging out and be unable to breathe properly. Now add hideous head cancer and eyes unable to swivel, bloated bodies, ridiculous tails and you have the perfect, fancy goldfish. Provided it has pretty colours of course. This whole subject reeks of hypocrisy and double standards. People with glass aquariums shouldn't throw stones!

Oh great. So you glossed over it but why is aquarium salt worse? Cause its like fine. The fish is going downhill rapidly. But now I know I definitely didn't help by throwing in aquarium salt I had from 1983. So whats the difference because yea it def didn't help lol I mean its my fault for not knowing the differences, and just thinking salt is salt.

I changed my betta to a hospital tank so I decided to start the tank fresh. I didn’t not know it was going to take this long to cycle the tank. My betta has recovered but her tank is not ready. The nitrites are super high. What can I do to expedite the process?

I use Myxazin daily then soak my fish food in octazin and aquarium salt and seams to bring the fish around, if the fish looks at deaths door i put in a quarantine small tank and 5x octozin dose then 12 hours later myxazin as worked for me, however, i understand some one say is heavy on the fish.
