    Unfortunately, that's how filming fishing videos goes sometimes. If the fish aren't on a fire bite, you have to fill the video somehow. If I just posted a 1 minute video of me just catching the fish, the algorithm will put it in purgatory. If you don't like the editing style, then I can't help much. I just came across this video and see it’s close to my old stomping grounds. I use to fish behind the Mariners Boathouse back in the 90s and I will tell you that place was hopping with snook, reds and blacktip. There was an inlet behind the resorts that had 2 cuts channeling in from the ocean and when the tide came in or going out the fish would go nuts. Since then I think it has closed up with sand I would catch greenies in my cast net Even behind the holiday inn was a spot where smaller snook would hang out. It was full of muck and mangroves but great times Once even saw a dolphin chase a snook up into the surf on the beach side. Miss fishing there!

    Love to hear the stories of how my home waters were back in the 80s and 90s. Lots has changed since then, but lots has also stayed the same. Still a good number of snook, although from the accounts of those who have been fishing here 40+ years, they are significantly less common than they were. One thing is for sure, they still come in and around the fort myers beach area heavily during the summer time. Plenty of good memories to still be made here even though it was absolutely destroyed by Hurricane Ian. Still can't believe it.

    Hi, can someone here give an educated guess on the 6500 model? I'm looking forward to went fishing for cod and halibut in the north of norway in a few weeks, and i need a reel with capabilities to fish pelargic in very deep depths AND also trolling shallow under the surface and in all depths in mid-water. In other words, I'm looking for a durable allrounder for sea fishing.. recommendations? thx

  • @f2fishing628
    @f2fishing6284 ай бұрын

    Hey there, if you're going to be trolling and deep dropping, you will likely want to get an open face reel also known as a "conventional reel". Trolling with a spinning reel will result in line twists and such. You'll also likely want to look at one with the dual gearing which is a button that allows you to change the gear ratio while fighting a fish to give you more power to get it off the bottom. I believe penn and shimano both make reels that have this function. Hope this helps.

    This is gonna sound really pedantic and goofy but those little bows would be wild instead of native. The only natives you might have in Georgia would be any brook trout at the southern extreme of their range. The way the terminology goes is this: Wild = born there with stocked lineage, native = has been in the area since the last ice age (probably even longer), holdover = stocked but survived its first season. Holdovers are really fun sometimes…they’re often the most aggressive feeders so they’re enthusiastic and occasionally big.

  • @f2fishing628
    @f2fishing6285 ай бұрын

    Not at all! I appreciate the comment and clarification. I didn't know there was a difference between native and wild, but it makes sense since, as I understand, rainbows were introduced to georgia during the 1900s at some point. I'm going to pin this for others to see.

    Good video man. Please help me with some questions about Lakes Park. 1. how much is the entrance to the park? 2. If am in the park, am I allowed to walk and fish freely? 3. is a fishing license necessary to fish in Lakes Park? Thanks in advance.

  • @f2fishing628

    Hey there! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I will answer these to the best of my ability. 1. Lakes park does not have an entry fee. However, the parking fee is $1 per hour or $5 for the day. 2. You are allowed to walk and fish anywhere within the park, with the exception of fishing from the bridges that span a part of the back of the loop. However, there is plenty of bank area to fish the bridges from without standing on the bridge itself. 3. A standard fishing liscense that covers freshwater fishing is required to fish within the park. One side note to keep in mind is that due to hurricane Ian the park was closed down for several months to act as a staging area for resources and contractors. It may be open by now, but i haven't had a chance to drive past it in the last few weeks. I would give a call to the lee county department of parks and recreation or department of tourism for a definitive answer on if it has been reopened before making the trip.

    @@f2fishing628 word...I have been there. Next time I'm gonna fish. I had no idea there was decent size snook in there. Anything else crazy in the water??

    Yeah, it's a fun little spot right in the middle of town, lots of snook in the 30-35" range. A lesser known secret is that there are also big tarpon in there, but you didn't hear it from me 😂

    @@f2fishing628 yrs ago I used to bring my kid there...I guess through the main entrance...where all the stuff for the public is. Anyways, I looked at the map of the system & it seems like a huge connected body of water. Bigger than I knew of. If you know where the tarpon live....I know how to hook em....jump em few times, and sometimes even land them...lol. That blows my mind, I worked as a charter & commercial deckhand for many yrs at FMB. I never knew of this. If ya need ever need someone to hold the camera for ya, I'm down...lol. Tarpon videos would blow up. LMK

    I'm always down to fish with people, from my experience there's only a couple dozen tarpon in there, and ive only hooked one once, but a couple years back i helped someone land one that was over 70 lbs

    So you use the same water instead of pumping in fresh water? What’s the difference between that and just using an air pump?

  • @f2fishing628
    @f2fishing6282 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for asking! The main difference is the capacity of bait that the circulation head can sustain. For bait that need high amounts of oxygen such as ladyfish, the recirculation head is superior. So they do serve the same purpose, also a pump can be added to pump new water in if desired, however with my boat setup, i do not have a desire to drill an intake into my hull at this time
