    Evidently not enough people were listening. If that speech had been given today on just about any college campus Antifa stormtroopers would be there to shout him down and then riot (oh, excuse me. "Peacefully protest").

    He was one of a kind. Literally, tens of millions of people probably saw what he saw, and he's the only one who stood up and did what he did, as effectively as he did. I'm reading the 3rd part of Gulag Archipelago and I'm so glad I was told about it!

    It is truly disgusting the way that the Western middle class Left helped hide the horrors of this vile regime while spitting their poison at the USA - always the USA. Through their attempts to sanitise and ignore this part of history these loathsome lefties are thoroughly implicated in the vast crimes of the Soviet tyranny.

    Brilliant! Solzhenitsyn is one of the few great thinkers of our time. His suffering at the hands of wicked people, not to mention his commitment and great creative gifts, allow him to occupy the highest of all moral grounds.

    He is right, yet he is also misguided by being short sighted, as history is measured in centuries. There is an undoubtedly fall in courage, and decline in morals, and there will be a resurgence of these values as happened many times before. United States has a interesting trait, that was absent in Soviet Union, and is absent in many other western nations. This is an ability to eventually adapt or correct course, albeit after many failures. Churchill said it better, "Americans will always do the right thing, only after they have tried everything else."

    Russia has seemed to always have the role of a guiding intellectual pointing the way for the people and government. And in a fatherly way point out for us the pitfalls and narrow paths to guide our spirtial and cultural development upward. In the tragedy of the soviet union the man appointed this God given role was Solzhenitsyn. I love him dearly. In the foot steps of Solzhenitsyn, Jordan Peterson has been given this mantel. And what a cowardly weak job he has done. As in his own words what he fears most through this libertine hellscape is the rise of authoritarian right wing government arising from it! Not the desecration of all that was once holy to our people. Nor the disenfranchisement of native peoples of Europe and America, who through love of justice and obedience to God created the greatest civilizations and beauty this world has ever seen. God save us all, our bulwark against terror and hell itself has fallen.

    The Russians and Eastern Europe teach Solzhenitsyn in school to their children. In the US he is basically banned... for pointing out there was a particular clique of people that was the primary driver of the Soviet Union's ideology, atrocities and depravity. Russia will eventually be a much freer place than anywhere in "The West", if it isn't aleady in 2022.

    Today the very idea of inviting and allowing someone like A. Solzhenitsyn to deliver a commencement address at Harvard - or any Ivy League university - would incite campus-wide protests and riots and car burning, and his words and ideas would be labelled 'hate speech'. The totalitarian tyranny of the Soviet system may have expired in Russia - but is today reborn, alive and well in America, VOTED IN by Americans.

    Is it in this address where he effectively condemns the then US media corporations for sabotaging the war effort in Vietnam? His belief at the time was that the spread of communism by military force and terrorism was an existential threat, and so considered the US fight in Vietnam to have been a moral and virtuous one even.

    Why don't you take the time to listen to it and answer that question for yourself? To make such a bold statement should have integrity behind it, and if you're commenting to check if something is part of an hour long talk, that you can't be bothered to watch and listen to yourself, really doesn't show a lot of integrity on your behalf. If it's in there, provide us with the timestamp please.

    The difficulty is that these things are usually well meaning in their conception, they just get adopted by the politicians to try and win more votes. Unfortunately total equality will never be possible, yet some insist on tearing down everything our ancestors built to achieve it, and allege that any equality means that the system is corrupt.

    Thinking of him now during the abortion uprise. What is a right?

  • @volleyballvideos6426
    @volleyballvideos6426 Жыл бұрын

    I think the tricky part is that if a right shouldn't trump the right of another person, and an unborn baby is a person, then that baby would have a right to live. Then we have to compare the right of the mother to the right of the baby; which then is more important: to be unobstructed when making a choice or to save your life?

  • @peterjansen3846

    Pro Abortion denies the right to life of the unborn. Abortion is murder of the defenceless.

  • @aaronvannatta9329
    @aaronvannatta9329 Жыл бұрын

    abortion is an entirely different topic. I think it's an honest conversation of when life begins, what constitutes it, and subsequently at what point we owe that life human rights. Although one may think Western 'democracy' is the best form of governance, no honest form comes without difficult introspection and conflict. It's inherent to our societ. Abortion is a debate that will go on for a very, very long time (and may only be complicated by AI), and it boggles my mind how either side could fail to consider their own fallacies. There are great arguments on both sides, and the more I listen to both, the more I realize this is a topic that can't be resolved in the foreseeable future.
