Er...... If the tank water passes through the medium vertical sponges first before flowing through the two stacked trays, why would you bother placing the coarse sponge at the bottom of the trays? The medium vertical sponges would stop most of the waste from getting to the coarse sponge. The vertical sponges had a bit on unused space with the egg carton design pattern. Once you have loaded the trays into the canister, you could fill the gap between the vertical foams and the canister wall with some washed crushed coral. This will disrupt the water flow, catch a lot of gunk and release calcium into the water to help with the Ph level. External prefoam filters might have some good points, but they look so messy and spoil the clean vibe of the tank.

Can you hatch eggs from a spawning mop in this box if you want to breed egg scattering fish and do not have room for a breeder tank? Would you hatch them in a tray and then add them to the box? Or are these breeder boxes mainly for livebearing fish?

When you say week you mean only two doses correct? Because it says to give para cleanse on the first and third day and then do a water change on the fifth day. I just gave my second dose of paraclens and my third dose of maracyn. The water is cloudy but I can't do a water change for three more days because I have two more days of maracyn. The guppies are at the top of the water since I brought them home staying by the bubbles from the sponge filter. I've seen them eat a little bit but haven't seen them anywhere except on top of the water. One died the day I brought it home and the other ones just stay at the top and kind of swim strangely. The one that died look like it's gills on the side of its head were red. If they don't look like they're getting better, can I repeat the maracyn And if so when can I repeat it? I will wait two weeks and do the para cleanse again for two more doses.

my betta has had a swollen stomach for weeks, with it extra protruding out her right side and at first we thought she was bloated from eating too much but when it didn't go away and there started the be white stuff sticking out of her right gils (almost looking like a little worm at times, or whiteish yellow stringy thing) and eventually falling off and more coming out, we got worried that was an infection or parasites. I've done a ton of research but can't seem to decipher which is the problem. What do you think? We have another betta fish separated in the tank that is unaffected, and they have both been together for almost a year without problems.

Why do you have deformed females that should have been culled, not only for sale, but housed with males? This is very irresponsible fish keeping.

I will not keep them as an addition to a community tank but as a separate feature in a designated tank. It's nearly impossible to match the water parameters for these snails and fish that like soft water. Bettas don't like hard water for instance.
