I love the repashy gel food. I put it in a little silicone chocolate mold shaped with hearts sand I actually freeze it. I found that freezing it keeps my danios from eating it all before my otos get any. And I like making it it’s kind of fun! I also ground up a few other dry foods I have and I mix that in as well.

I do the same. I make tons of Repashy shapes of various sizes and freeze them. My current mix is two parts Super Green and one part each of Bottom Scrapers and Community Plus. My molds are flower shaped 😁

It took me a try or two to get the bbs hatching process down because I didn't realize you couldnt see the brine shrimp when the pump was on because I wasn't making that much but it's surprisingly easy! I'd recommend it too!

The bug bites bottom feeder formula is an absolute must for me as I have corydoras and of all the foods I've tried it seems to be the one they are the most ravenous for, even over frozen bloodworms surprisingly.

Way way back in the day, long before you were born. All the expert's always said Discus would only eat tubifex worm's, and I would use the freeze dried and stick it on the glass. It was and is great for angelfish and pretty much any fish. Excellent video! I really love your video's, sometimes I over think what to do. FYI first my son used to live in Edmunds Washington while working for a little company called Boeing. He left a great job to go fight the war on terror. He used to send me beautiful picture's of Washington. He live's in a small town near Winslow Arizona and that famous corner was owned by my daughter In-laws family. Problem living their is you can't find live fish for a hundred mile's. Would be a great place to open a fish store.

I've come down to 3 favorites. I love somethings phishy but only their medicated flakes, Hikari, vibra bites being my favorite, and aquarium co-op everything. My fish adore the big fella kind. Pleco, cichlids, even my fire eel would have some.

Raised my Pseudomugil Furcata fry with the powder at the bottom of the freeze dried brine shrimp bottle. Also every time my Corydoras place eggs it's after feeding freeze dried tubiflex worms.

Great video Irene, how about easiest live food for someone who only has one tank? Not a lot of space and being in the hobby for decades.

Hello, always enjoying the videos. What are the fish pictured eating the bottom feeder wafers that are black and white blotched? Also, I never hear anyone talk about Cobalt foods. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I prefer Omega One, New Life Spectrum, and Bug Bites as they have the best ingredients. I use pellets and freeze dried first, wafers second and then flakes. Also Rapashy. The few extra dollars a month makes price unimportant. Frozen bloodworms are fed periodically. I have used most Xtreme foods, and while the fish liked them (especially krill), they much preferred my other foods. Because my tanks are in the garage, the occasional cricket, spider, or flying gnat-like things fall in; those are fought over. Earthworms from our organic garden are eagerly devoured by all.

This is why i dont like hikari or extreme plus the ingredients are full of fillers. I don't understand the hype on either. Spectrum, northfin and big bites are my go to. Personally i wasn't happy when coop switched

I love repashy food too. I use itty bitty ice cube tray to mold it and freeze the extra. I have hatched live brine shrimp before but I got some questions. 1. How long do brine shrimp live in the aquarium? 2. If fish did not find all the live brine shrimp put into the tank, would it turn it like ammonia later on? I too love to get tonz of variety of fish food and our fishies are spoiled:-) I feed extreme spirulina/krill, cobalt smartemia/guppy pellet, NF fry starter,NF kelp flake, Dr bassler nano (this nano food seems to make fish color up faster)/green/chorella/regular etc etc.

Did you know you can freeze the bbs the same way you freeze the repashy? As for bbs in the aquarium,I think they die within ~2 hours due to osmotic pressure. As long as you aren't overfeeding, the beneficial bacteria and housecleaning crew (shrimp, bottom feeders and snails) should prevent the leftovers from causing an ammonia spike.

Can't get Xtreme food out of the US.. but I use Hikari for all the fish.. Betta Pellets, Micro Pellets and Vibra Bites.. Also our very own API fish (Life Aayu) foods are a must try

My wild mahachaiensis females prefer the Xtreme nano pellet over the NLS betta pellets. They seem to like the high protein in the nano pellet.

My first experience with Repashy was awful. I fed a tiny amount to my tub pond and it caused an ammonia/nitrite spike in a fully cycled and stable tub. Decided to try again recently and feed it as just the powder and ended up with my guppies clamping up after a single feeding in 2 of my 8 tanks. And I wasn't overfeeding. I'll never feed it again. I stick with dry foods. Frozen foods caused my guppies to have clamping. They do very well on a variety of dry foods. I like Bug Bites and Hikari brands the best so far. I also feed Sera Micron, freeze dried Cyclops, and a mix from a guppy breeder I know. My goldfish gets pellets and dried seaweed. My Dojo Loach gets Bug Bites bottom feeder granules and a few other pellets. He goes nuts for Hikari Vibra Bites and Big Bites Tropical granules

I take all my dry foods and mix them all together in a shaker container. This way I don’t have to remember which food I fed on which day. I just walk thru the fish room and shake some into every take.

I tend to make a concoction of different feed so they get multiple multiple forms of proteins and nutrients. I only mix it in small batches, keeping a majority of each type in their respective containers and feed them one of those at times, as well as other feed. Frozen feed, flakes, and/or pellets (bug, shrimp, couple other kinds). I've gotten the best results with the Omega One Super Color Flakes. High protein, no artificial preservatives, made with whole meat, veggies, and proteins (salmon, herring, shrimp, peas, kelp) instead of meal or fake/replacement proteins. That's my base, so I'll mix those flakes with at least three other kinds of foods and have that as a hearty mix. Worst part about the flakes would be the price, but only for the small bottle. It's about $8 for a 1oz bottle, but just over $10 for a 2.2oz bottle. For someone with 4-10 fish, the 1oz bottle is a better financial decision, as you'd be wasting less/no food. For at least 20 or more, I'd go for the 2.2oz. I have a bit over 60 fish right now, so the large bottle is a better choice for me. I got some foods with extra nutrients (like vitamin C) because, earlier into raising them, I started having a few issues with Guppies or Tetra's that didn't get enough vitamin C in their diet, so I always made sure I got some food with moderate-high levels of vitamin C to mix in with their other foods, or give them that every little while to keep their levels up. Roughly 50 of my fish were bred in-home (20 Platies, ranging from 1-3 years, and 25-30 Mollies, who're not even a couple months old yet), and 15 that I bought from my local fish store. Platies are all solo breeds (Sunburst, Red-Wag), while the mollies are a cross (Sailfin and Lyretail). Some look like the father (Sailfin), some look like the mother(s, Lyretails), others are an odd gold/bronze color with either a mix of the two or favored in one direction. Quite the unique mix for only two batches of fry between a (less than) two-month period. Note: The molly fry were from two seperate batches, the first mother being Choco, the second being Lattè. The father is Named "Tupor Saint Milk", a play on "two percent milk. First group is the "Choco-Milk" batch, being less than two months old, and the second is the "Milk-Latte" batch, being about three weeks oldm. Love 'em all, and they're very friendly :]

2 Chinese takeaway containers filled with green scourers and pet food in the middle, easiest worm culture by far. You can even load them up on veggies etc for omnivores. They do need to be humid so I dont think this culture is popular outside of Australia and Asia. Certainly easier then some of the more well known worms

I’m debating whether I should buy some Spirulina Flakes. Do omnivore fish really need plant based food in their diet?

My fish don’t like the xtreme krill flakes, does anyone know why? I’ve been feeding them the krill flakes for 3 months and the only fish that eat them is the plecos

No true rotation, have to have a quality pelleted food (currently the Xtreme Nano), a quality flake food (currently Xtreme Krill and BugBites Spirulina flakes), and a month supply of frozen food (frozen BBS, bloodworms, blackworms, and my LFS just asked me to review a "variety pack"). I seed tanks with blackworms before I add fish, and grow snails and amphipods as live food. Used to do BBS live, but now living in a small apartment and need to invest in the BBS hatcher because my Patient Spouse™ asked for no more soda bottle hatches😅 Guppysnail has taught me the beauty of fresh vegetables, so every other day I prep carrot shavings, green bean pods (de-beaned), squash, cucumber or zucchini on bamboo skewers and pour boiling water over them for a quick blanching action. The skewer allows me to remove in the morning if there's anything left. (rarely)

I became a fish food hoarder, but not by choice! I had 7 of the pickiest Bettas ever. 6 only wanted frozen brine shrimp and blood worms. The 7th wanted nothing to do with blood worms. I tried every betta pellet from Hikari, to New Life Spectrum, to Omega One, to Xtreme, and it was a big NOPE from ALL of them. I tried Fluval bug bites betta formula. NOPE. I tried Fluval bug bites betta formula flakes. NOPE! 😂 I finally got them to eat Hikari Vibra Bites. Except for the blood worm hater, because it looks like worms! At this point I just gave up and stuck with frozen foods and just fasted Mr. Blood Worm hater on Blood Worm day. Then out of nowhere (after years of being pellet food snobs) they now will eat Xtreme Betta Pellets. Geeeezz...

I have 4 different food for my bettas 😪

I don't think the xtreme flakes are very good, most of my nano fish spit them out a few times before they eat them. Guppies like it though, they eat anything.
