  Why does this engine have to be revved so high between shifts? With 12 cylinders and a power cycle with every revolution I would think that this engine would have a lot of low end torque.

  It isn’t revving high, it’s two stroke, which makes it sound really high RPM but really maybe hits a max 4500 rpm

  My Pops was a lifelong trucker up here in Canada. I remember him calling the 12v71 Jimmys "Honda's" because of how high they revved. Well tonite I finally understood exactly what he meant!! Just WOW !!!🤪🤪

  Very nice truck!! The in line 6-71 has a distinctive sound all of its own compared to the V engines. This brings back memories, in '79 I drove a '55 KW with a 6-71 & 4 x 4 trans for awhile.

  We have in Verona a 1980 Bedford Tm truck series with a Detroit diesel engine 6v 71 with a 10 speed Eaton. Along the years we own all the trucks model because of our job ,but the sound of that engine is absolutely unique and incoparable to the nowdays truck that sounds like an Electric car.. what a sadness. Now and then we start it up and Remember the great days of the past..with lot of pollution but with old glory trucks on the road😂
