Glad I watched this as this is my exact dilemma I'm having now so any thoughts appreciated.... My heart wants the GT4 it's the car I've always dreamt of but my head and the wife want me to have a 911 (992) probable the GTS because I do have children and although it's tight in the back of the 911 it does mean we can all go out as a family... Honestly I'm stuck I just don't know what to do...

@@carcaveofficial in the UK not to sure but worth looking into... the GT4 sits around £80k mark base model Carrera around the same in a 992 and the GTS is around £120k. I have the funds available for the GT4 but an owner of multiple super cars I know said maybe it would be best to keep money in the bank go with the GTS 992 keep for 5 years and it wouldn't devalue too much if at all especially if the right spec is bought... it's definitely a dilemma

458 is as close in a DCT to coming close to the almighty gated gearbox in a 355, F40 etc. F355 is beyond amazing to drive and makes all the F1 sounds while rowing gated gears. Ferrari is the best at judging and matching all components of the car.

Awesome video and a real driving enthusiast it seems. If the driver is serious about enjoying all the sounds, vibrations, and sweaty palms I would highly encourage him to buy a Gen 2 Viper that is properly sorted and maintained. Nothing has come close to visceral driving experience while still being quick enough to keep up with modern stuff. Forza Ferrari and Hell yeah Viper!

they still made Turbo S 997's in 2013, they didn't come out w the turbo's on the 991 gen until 2014, so 2013 was an overlap year w the turbos in 997 and rest of the 911 line up in the 991.

I am getting one but I am only driving it in dry conditions. No rain and snow winter driving. Summer I get caught in a thunder shower I will live with that. But every vehicle I ever DD looked like crap in 4-5 years. I will baby by Turbo S.....now I just have to decide on a color. If I go pts I will get some color of blue like ocean blue or basic color white or gt silver.

You can't go wrong with GT Silver, but personally, I would get Ice Grey Metallic before I got anything other than GT Silver.

I like cobalt blue, ocean, blue, yachting blue and will be going to my local Porsche dealership to check out the swatches in various lighting, ie outside bright sunshine, indoors in darker light etc. I just went into the Turbo S configurator and there is no horizon blue available at this time for the Turbos S.

GT3 is based on the 911 which is rear engined, the GT4 is based on the Cayman platform which is mid engined, and the GTR is a full blown racecar based on the 911 and isn't street legal at all

We just purchased the ‘24 Taycan RWD with several options that were built into the car at our Porsche dealership. There is no way we could have afforded the Turbo, or an other upgraded model. Having said that, we will use it as a daily driver, do plan on taking road trips, of course, and this is a beautiful car all the way around. The ride is smooth, has more than enough power for us and the charging time is very quick, no time to have lunch, let alone a coffee! The car does sit low to the ground, and it is imperative to use the parking assist when parking or turning corners in a parking lot, we hate to scrape the wheels! This was a huge purchase for us and so far, we are very pleased with it. We try to avoid reading all the negative things on massive depreciation, etc. One more note, we think the Taycan is so much higher quality than the Tesla S we drove and almost purchased! Just our opinion…Thanks for this video.

The Taycan is UNDENIABLY a better build quality than the Tesla. Depreciation is going to come with any car purchase unless you get a 911, some limited edition Ferrari, or a Land Cruiser, so I wouldn't let that bother you in the slightest. Enjoy the car, put plenty of miles on it, and bask in the stunning looks! No need to have money for the Turbo, when the RWD looks just as good!

I have a ‘97 993, coupe, six-speed, in Forest Green Metallic, and my older brother looked at it closely one day (he’s a former Porsche mechanic and owned numerous Porsches) and compared it to his ‘12 997.2 C4S, and then told me: “Your 993 seems a lot more 911 than my 997.2.” I’ll never forget him saying that. It rang bells. And honestly, I believe he’s right. In 10, 20, or even 30 years, most probably won’t care about a 997.1, 997.2, 991, or even a 992, etc. They’ll still admire and desire the looks, sounds, smells, and undeniable thrilling driving experience of the air cooled 911s. 964’s and 993’s being at the head of that pack. But this is just my opinion.
