According to Scalemates, this kit has an interesting backstory. The tooling was produced in 1988 by Twentieth Century Imports, but wasn't released. A year later, Lindberg acquired the tooling, and brought it out under their label. Overall, it's a decent model of a T-55, but it's parts breakdown is kind of a 'throwback' to early armor kits; especially with its multipiece lower hull. The lack of figures is also a minus. But I do have one in my stash. My plan is to build it in a diorama setting (in the School of Shep Paine) with the classic Monogram M48A2 Patton, which first came out in 1958. Had this T-55 kit been produced thirty years earlier, it would have had a much better run. Thanks for posting your review! 66th Like.

This looks like the old Revell Camel model I built in the early ‘80s. The one I had was in a plastic bag, attached to cardboard with art printed on it. It was moulded in dark green. I also had the red tri-plane Fokker. Same packaging (moulded in red).

I built that Revell 1/48th scale MIG-25 way back in the late 1970s (I still have it on display). The kit came with decals to represent the MIG-25, # 31, which Lt. Viktor Belenko flew to Japan back in September 1976 to eventually defect to the United States. That's how mine was built. Anyway, nice trip down "memory runway" seeing the parts of the kit and thanks for sharing!

This kit was released in 1989, it isn't *that* old but certainly no recent pressing either. The actual car débuted in 1953 which was quite a long time ago! The Ferrari 250 GT is a very uncommon sight in the car modeling hobby, when was the last time you saw one built up? I'd like to snag me a copy of this kit for myself, shouldn't be difficult. Happy modeling!

I haven’t seen one built. Everyone always goes for the GTO instead. I looked for a long time for this model. I like some of these classic grand touring cars.
@NORTHERNROVER1Ай бұрын
Thanks for the review. I have a couple of these and find there are some pros and cons with the kit. It is a fairly simple build and I like that it has decent engine where as some of the 250 models don't have any at all. The tires are awful no matter what you do with them, you do get another set of wheels, grille etc, that do not have the toy like chrome applied so that is nice, and I really like the 250 SWB shape but on this model it just doesn't look like the proportions have been caught accurately however I still like the finished kit. I think the Esci and Ertl may be the same kit and they are quite economical. If you want a really nice Ferrari 250, although not a SWB, get the Fujimi kit which IMO is excellent, but considerably more money. Cheers!

As with the 1/8th models that I build, the detail isn’t much better than 1/24th, but it does allow for adding lots of scratchbuilt detail. Pity at this scale that the doors don’t open....and what’s with the moulded in wipers? Having said that, I have one winging it’s way to me as I write. 😁👍🏼

Impressive results with basic techniques; you give me hope for my own attempt to get back into the hobby after 20-plus years. One correction: The Camel, like many planes of its day, did indeed have a rotary engine; the prop was rigidly attached to the engine and the whole assembly turned around the crankshaft, which was rigidly attached to the fuselage. Torque? You bet it had torque.

One of the last steps was gluing the upper hull to the rear hull. Mistake. Now, there's a great big ugly seam where there doesn't need to be. Next one, FIRST glue the upper hull to the rear plate early on. That way, you can clean up and paint over the seam, making it invisible. Leave the BOTTOM of the rear plate to glue last, after the wheels & tracks are done. That leaves just one tiny seam down low, easily cleaned up or hidden. Gray is also a better color for the tow cable ends.... GREAT WORK!....nicely weathered!

One issue with this particular version of the Huey: the only units that flew a UH-1 D or H model gunship were the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). Google RAAF Bushrangers for more info. I flew as a Crew Chief / Door Gunner on a UH-1H with the 114th AHC "Knights" out of Vinh Long RVN in '69-'70. The Aussies were a tough bunch and did wondrous field mods of the H-model.

David R Lentz, USA A very professional job, sir, both in the quality of your work and in the pleasant manner in which you speak. Another bloke building this kit on his channel swore like Quentin Tarantino after a month in a nunnery, repeatedly grumbling that a friend had asked him to do this job on short notice for a promotional event; he accepted, even though the topic was well outside his usual purview. It showed, too, for he glued into place upon that huge, 80 cm (31.5-inch) hull lots of fiddly bits prior to painting the exterior, then next neglecting to take the time properly to weather it. Oddly enough, it took him four videos to finish the job! I note this to contrast with your approach to the task and manner, that you might see the depth of my appreciation for your pleasantness, as well as my admiration for your skills in model-building, and your acumen with the subject matter. I had not known that SMS U-9 German WWI Submarine “Das Werk” had been a vessel of the Great War. For years have I sought a 1:72nd-scale plastic model kit of a DKM Typ VIIc U-Boat. Perchance would you know of one? (kit length: 106.61 cm, 41.9724409 inches; 41 ft 11.6691 inches) Hours on, whilst reading further, I found this: DKM Typ VIIc/41 U-Boat, Platinum Edition 1:72nd-scale plastic model kit, Revell 05163. (kit length: 93.3 cm, 36.73”) DKM U-Boat Typ VIIc/41 Eduard Detail Set for Revell 1:72 105mm Anti-Aircraft Gun for DKM U-Boat Revell 1:72nd-scale kit (Photo-Etch & Resin) Also, this later version: DKM Typ IXc U-Boat 1:72nd-scale plastic model kit, Revell Eduard 1/72 Typ IXc/40 U-Boat Tower Detail (Revell) 53160 DKM U-Boat 105mm Anti-Aircraft Gun for Revell 1:72nd-scale (Photo-Etch & Resin) What could serve as a worthy opponent in 1:72nd-scale in a tableau together with either of these? Revell has a PT Boat kit (though to meet the standards this submarine kit sets would require comprehensive modification and scratch-building, at significant expense). Hasegawa has an excellent (though expensive) kit of the Consolidated B-24D Liberator USAAF Heavy Bomber, which one could convert to a PB4Y-1 Liberator U.S. Navy Patrol Bomber in the tri-colour camouflage scheme. Matchbox, and later, Revell, offered the Flower-class Corvette, which seems to me the best option, though as with Revell’s PT Boat model, it “would require comprehensive modification and scratch-building” to upgrade, “at significant expense.” Trumpeter also makes a DKM Typ VIIc/41 U-Boat kit in 1:144th-scale, and Revell AG a kit in that scale of a Fletcher-class destroyer; I would present them together in a dramatic, seagoing diorama depicting a close-quarters surface engagement in the overcast gloom of midnight. In the background, I would place models of several Liberty and Victory cargo ships in various scales-one suddenly aflame and thrown heavily to starboard from a torpedo strike at the waterline-to form a forced perspective display. Trumpeter makes a 1:48th-scale kit of the DKM Typ VIIc/41 U-Boat, for round 500 USD, if I recall correctly. It includes the interior, several crew figures, and a means to display them. What fighting ship kit could meet that? I know of none. Perhaps Revell’s re-boxing of the Monogram Consolidated B-24D Liberator USAAF Heavy Bomber kit, again made as a U.S. Navy PB4Y-1 Liberator Patrol Bomber, might work.
