BobbyBroccoli

Howdy, I do deep dive broccumentaries into science scandals and controversies. Currently I animate in Blender, and previously dabbled in Google Earth for a bit. Studied engineering physics and photonics in school. My old videos focused on video game content, shoutout if you've been here since the Spongebob days.

I've got a Patreon and a Twitter! Channel art is my own, but my profile picture was commissioned from @RealHeayn on Twitter!

    Excellent presentation in every way! Engaging, educational, well researched, awesome graphics, great storytelling - which helps the laymen understand the world of scientific discovery of elements. Loved the methodology of weaving together the research with storytelling presented in an easy to understand format! 🙏 Thank you!

    The avro arrow was never stealth, nor was it designed to be. The shape kinda looks like a b-2 if you squint, but then you could say nazis invented stealth tech with thw HO-229. Really it was first theorized by a russian physicist, but they didnt see any military value in it. Eventually lockheed got ahold of the paper and made the F-117, the real first stealth plane. The arrow wasnt a particularily good plane either compared to its contemporaries.

    I have to admit, after all the videos ive seen on youtube since coming onto the platform from 2009 and even after dabbling in content creation myself, this is my favorite video on youtube. You are incredible, so much so that i am doing my graduate work on Viktor Ninov now. Thanks!

    @@BobbyBroccoli Damn. Didn't think you'd reply. Essentially, yes, but with a big emphasis on Ninov. I do plan to cover the Bogdanoff twins too, and if the size permits, even more examples. But the main point is Ninov: i find his story the most interesting, and by far one that is strangest of all. Through him i feel i can truly portray what im trying to say.

I find your documentaries fascinating, but I think sometimes you adopt a somewhat too romantic approach to science, especially regarding human reality. I believe that as one evolves to a certain level in life in terms of competence and responsibility, certain flaws in human character can sometimes influence one's ability to make decisions. You seem to lack a bit of this necessary perspective, although through your documentaries, it becomes evident that you are genuinely brilliant.

    I'm someone who constantly second-guesses myself, so if I ever did something like this, I'd probably have to take extra steps like turning the sketches into an animatic in the video editor before even _thinking_ of moving on to Blender. To make _absolutely sure_ everything that would be hard to change won't have to be.

    I am baffled on how his papers are still cited TO THIS DAY. It's not that they're citing the scandal, no they're citing the actual made-up work that was retracted in 2003.

  • @BobbyBroccoli
    @BobbyBroccoli2 күн бұрын

    It's likely that people see it cited in other papers, and they never check it. Or, they are citing it in the introduction to show how the field evolved over time, which is still valid

  • @eXorikos
    @eXorikos2 күн бұрын

    @@BobbyBroccoli Call me oldschool but I was taught to never cite a paper that I haven’t actually read and as a reviewer I check all papers cited. However the papers I checked that still cite him have over 200 references (which isn’t allowed in the journals I have published in). I can imagine you cannot check all. Normally, there is also some automated reference check from the publisher. So these should be caught. I agree your second example would be legitimate.

    I'm sure someone has already pointed it out but I need to say this for my own sanity. There is no such thing as a fancy Peugeot. Peugeot doesn't make ultra luxury super cars for rich people, they mostly make small cost effective hatchbacks. Hwang Woo-suk was admonishing his employee not for driving a Lamborghini but for driving something that in Europe is considered less fancy than a VW. I imagine the real reason Hwang Woo-suk was so angry was because the car wasn't Korean.
